Passives:
Beacon of Ytar - Required for BoH uptime
Exhalted Soul - Required for more damage output
Harmony - Recommended. Really good defensive passive. You can switch it out if your gear does not have secondary resistances for some reason.
Aclarity: Optional. Can be switched for: Near Death Experience, Seize the Initiative, Determination, etc
--------------------------------------------------
Gems:
Helmet: Diamond
Armor: Emerald
Weapons: Emerald
Jewelry: Simplicity's Strength, Gogok of Swiftness, Bane of the Trapped
--------------------------------------------------
Variations:
Cyclone Strike - Wall of Wind in conjunction with Ancient Parthan Defenders
--------------------------------------------------
Gear:
Since you are not allowed to benefit from any set armor bonuses, I opted to get additional damage through my shoulder and boot slots.
My Shenlong's Fist Weapons did not have Life per Hit on them, but I had a level 25+ Simplicity's Strength which indirectly provided me with LoH through the vitality on my weapons.
Amulet and Belt slots are flexible.
We use Strongarm Bracers in conjunction with Cyclone Strike because displacement abilities are treated as knockbacks.
--------------------------------------------------
Cube:
Weapon: Flying Dragon - helps to keep your spirit high
Armor: Spirit Guards - Defensive choice, you can use any other type of bracers from the wrists section. Use Leoric's Crown if you are really lacking CDR.
Jewelry: Unity - Defensive choice

Follower:
I chose to go with the Templar because I didn't run a revive passive. Obviously equip him with an Unity.

Left
Right (you can use the left one if you don't need help to stay alive and are running out of spirit too fast)

Core:
You'll want to increase your Maximum Resource in order to increase your damage ceiling.
--------------------------------------------------
Offense:
CDR is needed to be able to use Breath of Heaven on cooldown.
ATS to keep your Spirit up.
You take CHC over CHD because you already gain a lot of CHD from the sockets in your weapons.
--------------------------------------------------
Defense:
We take Resist All over Armor because Monks naturally have a lot of armor due to Dexterity being their main stat.
Life Regeneration is kinda meh in this build, we already have a decent amount of Life on Hit. And as already mentioned above, extra Life means more Life on Hit due to Simplicity's Strength.
--------------------------------------------------
Utility:
Most of the things here don't really affect us that much. Life on Hit is the only decent one here due to our high attack speed with this setup.
Build Guide
This is the build I used to complete the conquest "The Thrill" in season 4 in around 8 minutes.
The idea is that you hold down your generator and use BoH on cooldown while using Cyclone Strike every few seconds to proc F&R. It's important that you have 100% BoH uptime to keep your spirit full for maximum damage.
This was mostly a quickly thrown together build, you won't need to optimize your gear, I didn't even use gifts on my weapons.
Worked as advertised, first try. Thank you.
Why cindercoat? Does it affect dashing strike charges?
read the achievement. not all sets are listed there. Btw it also states armor sets, in which rings and weapons are not included
Can I not delete this?
Unfair. Shenlong monks are top tiers. Its a strong set.
Its nonsense allowing ANY SET in this conquest. It should read "no sets at all".
What this monk lost in comparison with regular shen long ones? Only 2 Pieces of raiment of storms.
Unfair, unfair, unfair...
Tip: Switch flying dragon for scourge (45% chance when attacking to explode with demonic fury for 2000% weapon damage as Fire) and amulet and belt for blackthorne set (+250vit and +10% elite dmg), and you will explode mobs and grift boss.
Edit: oh, and death bargain or pox faulds is a good choice to put in the cube, if you having trouble to survive, change the rune of Breath of Heaven to Circle of life.
Used Sage's set with spirit guards in cube. Magefist gloves, cindercoat chest. Didn't need to use leorics crown as I had enough toughness in gear alone. Great build idea!
Awesome build, was super smoothe using rank 50 gems at 510 paragon level.
Fantastic build, worked first try with no problems! Thanks!
did try it and worked on first try... ty
Why the Bracers, I see no knock back abilities?
Thanks so much for this guide! It was the last achievement I needed, and it worked beautifully, as described. I didn't have an Eye of Peshkov, so I used a crappy Leoric's Crown, but other than that I followed your suggestions and very basic optimization. Didn't want to sink in a ton of resources into re-rolls... Got it on the first try! Much appreciated!
As an aside, I'm glad we don't have to play this build all the time, because it would give me carpal tunnel.
Cyclone strike counts as a "knockback."
