Convention of Elements
will require a thunder-fury optimized follower (high attack speed w/ tfury) for bane of the trapped and cull the weak triggers,
RCR on chest = hatred per second
generally CoE with a few extra toughness rolls will out perform unity with a few extra damage rolls, so
the reason for RCR on shoulders and not quiver/gloves is you can get 1k vit on gloves/quiver, while shoulders only offer 650
lacking unity, unless you opt for full glass cannon, you will want to take advantage of some 1k vit rolls (gloves/quiver/helm) many balances will work comparably
for full glass cannon you would run;
area damage or hatred per second on quiver,
area damage or RCR on gloves,
area damage and/or RCR on shoulders
Multishot dmg on helm
strongarms over wraps of clairty with leonine bow / cold bola over calamity
Top tier HFA passives; nightstalker, steady aim, leech, perfectionist

Build Guide
the video is optimized for torment, this text guide leans more toward GR progression
the convention of elements is key to maximizing damage potential with this build, whenever possible you want to push forward and create density while you are on other elements (lightning, cold, phys) and make sure you have nice density to dump hatred on when the fire proc is up, also timing the wolf with the fire proc helps a bit (this is much less significant)
some potential variations include changing;
taeguk to striken (recommended on seasonal)
bait the trap to mark for death contagion and ambush to steady aim (in groups)
wraps of clarity to reaper's wraps / bait the trap to seethe or displacement / calamity to solanium (speed farm)
vault to smokescreen, displacement (higher grs)
cindercoat to hexing pants (potentially, high solo grs)
bait the trap to mark for death mortal enemy (potentially, high solo grs)
calamity to leonine w/ cold bola (for crowd control)
Hello,
First, thanks for the guide. I have built a very nice DH using it, and i appreciate your efforts.
Two questions:
1 - in the comments section, you say that RCR on shoulders is important, but under the shoulders, you have the stat priority listed as: Dex, vit, AR, life. Can you confirm that RCR on shoulders should be there instead of %life at the end?
2- I finally found an ancient yang's! Should i re-roll the 10K life after kill in favor of +discipline? As you can see by my terrible recovery, I very much miss having 17K life on hit on my non ancient Yang's. here it is: http://imgur.com/EDZ7155
3- life on hit -- i currently swapped paragon priority, putting life on hit before area damage (as my new ancient yang's only had 40% RCR and my prior one had 50% -- so i need the RCR paragon, too. Where would you look to add life on hit, and in place of which slots?
Edit: here is my DH http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Cauhauna-1722/hero/65741256
Thank you!
@Cauhauna, yes you should reroll le 10k life after kill for +12 maximum discipline. this will give you a good 180% increase dmg.
Would Hungering Arrow - Serrated (+6 Hatred) be better than Evasive Fire? EF's 20 yard range proc BoW harder. Or you must keep enemies close, which defect Zei's.
Probs a dumb question here. But I see in some of these videos that people have these insaaane drop rates for legends and stuff, like 2-3 dropping at a time every few seconds. What's making that happen?
What items can roll with +discipline in secondary? Is it just bow, armor and quiver? Would plus 10 discipline really translate to +150% damage with multishot?
Decided to make a DH because I was sort of frustrated pushing my Crusader in Season and this is a lot of fun. I have maybe 3 hours at 70 and III is already a joke. 6 piece + F/R set + bracer + belt + OH, need to get the bow before I really start experimenting and leveling gems in group play. I don't have CoE or Calamity blown up yet and I can see those being huge boosts as well
Just a big THANKS because this is great
Quick question why stricken over taeguk for seasonal?
hello, I have recently returned to diablo 3, and just getting back into the game. i am using this build with a few different skills/items
and i was wondering your input on them. Instead of caltrops i use vengeance(seethe) (I know you said there is play with these two was just pointing it out)
and instead of convention of elements i use Obsidian ring of zodiac. this allows me
spam wolf pretty much non-stop along with almost always having vengence active. im also using
steady aim over CtW, because im usually atleast 10 yards away at all times. wondering what you think
also does Steady aim act the same as zei's gem, i notice you mentioned that the 50 yards
will still be active to monsters further away, even though you have monsters on you.
does this apply to Steady aim? any advice would be great.
First of all great guide phil, you've been the top DH resource for information for almost half a decade now.
To answer your question Bagelzend, you aren't able to roll AR on those pants because they already have a resist roll on the secondary.
Damn... using this build since october... getting around 20++ Yang Recurve all without ancient...
Damn pissed off... Can only push up to GR55 without the ancient Yang Recurve...
How should i get the god damn ancient Yang Recurve..
Hi there! What's the rational for prioritizing fire % over CHC % for the amulet slot?
Hi, you can show a optimization for the follower? Please!
I found the video on youtube, thks a lot.
Ive got dawn in cube insted of clamity and vengeance seethe insted of caltrops beacause they're useless and for passives thrill of the hunt ballistics cull the weak and ambush I did a 50 in 9:30 with a four piece set effect of UE and it worked fine for me,my friend did a solo 85 in 13:41 seconds so change a few of the skills and passives and put dawn in and you'll be fine trust me
