-This build will allow you to constantly spam shield bash without having to worry about wrath!!! I am by no means a D3 expert, so if anyone has any constructive tips or suggestions please let me know.
-REQUIRED ITEMS
Roland's Set: Raw damage output and attack speed
Piro Marella (crafted item): Wrath management
-RECOMMENDED ITEMS
String of Ears: Toughness. If you want more damage, try a Witching Hour or other damage focused belt of your choice.
Drakon's Lesson: Wrath Management and decent damage
Focus & Restraint: Crazy damage boost
-For your primary, use whatever is your highest raw damage weapon if you do not have a Furnace or a good Maximus (I use an ancient Skywarden).
-STATS
I always use the standard model of focusing on +damage (CHC, CHD, IAS, STR, CR, Fire%, SB%) for gloves, amulet, rings, primary, and off-hand. Then focus on Toughness / Recovery on shoulders, chest, legs, belt, and boots. Then I like to use a healthy mixture of damage and toughness on the helmet and bracers. I try to stay above 1.5m base damage and 25m toughness for GR45+
-GEMS
Helmet: Strongly recommend the highest level diamond you have. If toughness is an issue, switch to an amethyst.
Jewelry: Bane of the Trapped and Taeguk for damage, Molten Wildebeest's for toughness. Switch Taeguk for Esoteric Alteration if toughness is an issue.
Everything Else: Rubies for damage, diamonds for toughness.
-POSSIBLE CUBE CHOICES
Hellskull: Nice 10% overall damage boost.
Blood Brother: 30% damage boost and 30% less damage inflicted to you after blocking an attack.
The Furnace: 50% increased damage to elites!
Cindercoat: Makes wrath management a non-issue. Possible to replace with your choice if you are good with SG.
Unity: Toughness when soloing grifts. Replace with Convention of Elements if you want more damage
Convection of Elements: Elemental damage boost

Build Guide
Spam Shield Bash, watch enemies melt. Simple as that! Just remember to use SG to proc Bane of the Trapped and Punish to proc Focus.
When fighting elites or tough groups, pop Akarat's or Iron Skin. Make sure to pay attention to your CD on Indestructible and Prophet!
You can't proc focus using your current skills. SG doesn't count unfortunately.
Ah sorry, just noticed I had steed charge there. Meant to have a generator
Sounds like a good call, but I've never even seen a Furnace drop so I haven't been able to try it.
Final Witness would work well if you have problems positioning. But unless you have a great roll, I would equip Piro Marella since it is craftable. You can keep making it until you get a perfect one.
if you don't have cindercoat, try reaper's wraps+final witness in cube instead, 360 degree blind and i personally never ran out of wrath for shield bash in battle
Switched RCR Law of Valor for Crit Damage, and Blood Brother in Cube instead of Hellskull
For speed runs, I would probably leave everything the same except switch the Unity for a CoE or Zodiac
Honestly I don't know, the highest I've done is GR 50. I've heard of some people doing some insane damage numbers with the right weapons. Personally, I don't have a good ancient Maximus or a cubed Furnace to give it a shot. But if you get a good map layout, good monster density, and get the right boss, I think GR60+ would be possible. You would need to be a very good player and have near perfect rolls on your gear to have a shot though
So, the problem isn't running out of wrath when going up against large amounts of mobs; but the problem is running out of wrath when you're taking an individual boss -- such as a GR Guardian.
Definitely don't bother using Roar for your Punish rune. It's Fire, but that is its ONLY advantage. The damage from Punish is utterly insignificant, and an occasional +15% crit chance on your Shield bash from the Fury rune is way better.
Makes sense, I'll definitely give it a shot!
Have you considered the Angel Hair Braid as the belt since we are using punish? That should more than make up for any stat difference gained by using the WItching Hour.
switch string of ears for an angel hair braid and you get more out of punish. just saying All punish runes >30% possible melee reduction.
Thanks for a great build!
Got started on it today. Tweaking gems and that 5th passive. Im debating Wrathful and then going without shield glare or else also long arm of the law. Got one with Vigilant now its decent.
So heres an idea.. instead of string of ears what about using that belt that gives you the debilitate rune for judgement??
Ive been working judgement in and I like it Either in place of shield glare or Akarats. Im not convinced Akarats is fully necessary especially since the uptime is just less than 50% for me.
Gizzard definitely necessary.
Not convinced about taeguk.
Using Gizzard, esoteric, and bane of the stricken myself.
Fun build to play with this rules!
I completely agree with your choice of gems, but I made this as a non-seasonal build. I'll definitely update it when bane of the stricken comes to non-season.
I LOVE this build! Thank you Thank you Thank you!! I have been looking for something to improve my Crusader and this build has done it. So much fun to clear rifts this quickly. I've been using a Sunder with Furnace cubed and couldn't figure out why it took so long to get through rifts. I guess the Leg Gems make a HUGE difference. Plus, today I got that ring that lets you complete a set when missing 1 item and I can finally where Roland's. Shield Bash melts those monsters away.
I just now completed Akkahn's. I might modify this somewhat and change the skills to a Blessed Shield type of build but I'm not sure. This build is working great!
Thanks again!
How would a Unity increase toughness while doing solo grifts?
How does this compare to the condemned shogun build?
shotgun has nothing on this, maybe it has more toughness. But the damage that this build does is insane.
True, it doesn't directly increase the toughness stat, but if you use it with a follower then it gives you a ton of damage reduction. Just make sure to equip your follower with an item that makes them invincible.
Ah ok, thanks!
