This is a modestly gear dependent build for patch version 2.2 that focuses heavily on the new changes to Roland's Legacy and the addition of Drakon's lesson.

The Gear:

In order to complete the build as you'll see it You will need the following items for the following reasons,

Roland's 5 piece- Pretty self explanatory, while the 500% damage increase to shield bash is additive and not multiplicative, its still A huge dps modifier, and the attack speed from the 6 set is what gives the build efficiency in higher greater rift. Need a ring of royal grandeur, build dependent.

Drakon's Lesson- With this item we see one huge and necessary change to the Roland's play style that takes the shield bash to a grift capable potential, multiplicative damage and single target dps. this takes what petered out against elites and rift guardians and actually rewards you with more damage and efficiency when you're presented with a challenging opponent. The resource cost reduction is an added bonus that keeps you from overextending and makes the build more breezy.

Cindercoat- We use the cindercoat not only for the additional 15-20% fire skills, but the huge added bonus of RCR on crumble its a best in slot and absolutely necessary for the build.

Piro Marella- Again like the cindercoat, this item reduces the cost of shield bash by a further 40-50% giving you and insane amount of total RCR even after diminishing returns, and has the added bonus of being craftable, meaning farming one or even getting an ancient to pick up necessary toughness is completely viable for a budgeted non-optimal variation of the build.

Weapon- For this slot I left open several options because it is entirely dependent on your own personal play style, I would say test the different builds and find a play style that suits you. I personally use scourge because the proc does and insane amount of area damage, procs highly often, and the item automatically rolls a socket which makes farming for ramaldnis or sub-perfect maximus and furnaces a non issue.

The Gems:

Esoteric Alteration- I would say that because a large failing of the build could potentially be BEING crowd controlled do to the nature of the non akarats champion crusader, esoteric alteration is a must, the gem alleviates tons of damage from nearly all mod types keeping you safe in both hc and non-hc play.

Bane of that powerful- This gem gives you compounding returns and while bane of the trapped gives you multiplicative returns more consistently and doesn't rely on elites, you'll see that the clear speed and damage of this build is more then high enough to keep the proc of a level 25 bane of the powerful up at nearly all times making it a best in slot.

Bane of the trapped- While I'm not a fan of giving up a damage mod on my neck, bane of the trapped would be worth using for the damage due to the nature of the build and how much cc is used, as well as trapped level 25 proc actually proccing itself, where this build is extremely close range, works quite well.

Mutilation guard- plausible damage mitigation, testing using this gem, feel like I might use it over a damage gem.

Core-

Go strength until your total strength exceeds 10k, at which point migrate to vit for added toughness.

Offense-

Critical hit chance unless you have 40%< then prioritize critical hit damage instead. attack speed after that followed by cdr.

Defense-

Resist all is a must even with esoteric alteration because it gives you physical damage resistance, which with the exception of very lucky stackable resists on items you don't want all resist on is very difficult to get. after that get %life>armor>and then lastly lps.

Utility-

You can get quite a bit of RCR here so take it first, after that prioritize loh over area damage as you'll be attacking very quickly and lastly pick up aoe>goldfind for obvious reasons.

Build Guide

A mid-geared build for efficient high greater rift farming and clearing.

The Gameplay:

All revised, made divine verdict new shield glare so no generator is necessary for build, allowing you to use iron skin for enhanced mobility+more survivability. Prophet is an oh shit button(everyone needs one). crumble proc is fairly good at wave clearing, and provoke with too scared to run+ unstoppable force makes your shield bash up time full-time.

If you have any questions or feedback I'll try to get back to you as quickly as possible!
