"REQUIRED" - build defining legendaries

"RECOMMENDED" - items that are better, but are not absolutely necessary

"ADEQUATE" - will do for a start or there are no real useful items for that gearslot.

tips:

* Attack Speed increase is welcome stat, especially on Weapons. It'll maximize chance to apply paralysis and therefore Manald Heal ring ability

* It's easier to get a usable Ather Walker, as it's just a single non-ranged legendary bonus, whereas it's very hard to get a well rolled Fragment of Destiny, so to maximize it's bonus, it's better to extract FoD power and use it in the cube.

* There are pretty much no decent shoulder option. Use whatever Legendary or set item you get or even craft, especially if it's ancient. If you go for "The Thrill" Season Conquest (no set items GR45), you need to make sure you use non-set item.

* Very fast attack speed also helps tremendously with Shielding from bracers and Magic Weapon and Simplicity Strenght gem.

* good Life on Hit (especially if ancient) roll on a bracers is very welcome, it will help you with sustaining incoming damage.

regular gems:

helm: Amethyst for higher life pool

chest/pants: Topaz (if Flawless Royal), at lower levels Diamond

Weapon: Emerald

This build relies on little to no resource cost reduction nor Cooldown Reduction, but having few Attack Speed increased rolls is not a bad idea. With fast attack speed you'll replenish your teleported AP quickly and regain Aquila chest bonus. Area Damage is okay (for selfcasting Spectral Blade), but it doesn't apply to manald heal damage.

How to get items (optimal way):

* unless you find yourself, craft 1 hand level 70 yellow wands and use "upgrade rare" cube recepie to get both Aether Walker and Fragment of Destiny

* If you run out of white/blue/yellow materials, visit Act5 Battlefields map on any comfortable difficulty and go open up Armor Racks for all the white items (there are lots of them) and collect them. Then convert them (or part) to desired blue/yellow material using cube recepie (buy cheap blue or yellow item from vendor to fill the recepie). Once in a while, you'll get Nephalem Rift with battlefield layout and these have lots of racks too, so you can collect white items there too.

* Gamble your Blood Shards at Kadala to get Depth Diggers pants and after receiving these gamble for other recommended items.

* Cosmic Strand is craftable Source (and makes a rare return), so craft it yourself at the blacksmith (you'll get recepie from running bounties) and try to craft it as ancient for maximum LoD bonus

* Reforge only sparingly and if you have a backup version of this item. Primarily, reforge your equipped wand, as it'll provide highest benefits when ancient as it'll buff the damage range on it.

Build Guide

IMPORTANT: This is a teleporting build: most of your movement will be teleporting, not moving around walking

NB! Enable "Elective Mode" from Game Menu ->Options ->Gameplay, so it'll allow to bind different category skills to different buttons.

So, first things first: learn to properly teleport.

rebind SPACE bar for "Force standing Still" (and rebind "Close all open Windows" to something else convenient, like APOSTROPHE (tilde))

why:

teleport is not left mouse button clickable skill, so it won't activate on its own: if you click on something or somebody, open chest etc. In Diablo 3, character moves (walks) typically using mouse left button (either click or keep down, alternatively some use force move, but thats "advanced" stuff), The position of the mouse cursor around you will dictate the direction.

Now, if you press SPACE, Teleport will activate. If you need to teleport multiple times in a row, then just hold down SPACE. This will make Teleport much easier and natural to use and will be like a part of normal character movement and you'll get more precise teleporting and less unwanted ones, especially considering teleporting cost with Aether Walker or if not, it's cooldown.

In D3, keys have "priorities". Right mouse button /RMB) has a higher priority than Left Mouse button (LMB): even if you keep LMB down, once you click RMB, it'll stop doing what LMB does and will cast skill. Then, 1-4 skill keys (default number 1-4) have higher priority than both, so even if you keep down both mouse buttons, char will do what that skill key does and not the mouse ones.

Keybind setup: LMB: Teleport and RMB: Spectral Blades is the most optimal, as you only then need SPACE bar for regular gameplay to trigger teleport and only if you're not lazy, occasinaly you can activate Slow Time (for defensive and offensive reasons), but even that's not essential. Very simple and intuitive. Other skills are there just to buff you and you have to enable/recast them once in 10 minutes.

ELI5 (explain-like-i'm-five) guide:

WHY Legacy of Dreams (LoD)

Wizard sets are quite underwhelming or often finicky or require certain situations. Some straight up don't work at low difficulties at all (Firebirds, the Season 21 gifted set), while Vyrs for example really only works with other required items (and stack cooldown reduction) that you need to find in the first place or is not readily available at the start. LoD is a legendary gem, that is guarranteed to drop on your second greater rift (at any level) and provides easy and dependable damage reduction and bonus damage pretty much from the start and even at low gem levels can provide decent bonus. It scales very well with both gem level-ups and gathering ancient gear (although not required at all on lower difficulties). It has little downsides and provides bonus all the time for all skills.

WHY Lightning Blades:

  • Spectral Blades with FoD wand and Shame of Delsere belt will attack at insane rate and highest chance to activate Manald Heal (MH) ring damage bonus
  • Lighting blades have very decent area of effect and even if you don't get MH damage, it will dish out reasonable damage on its own with Simplicity Strenght and Depth Diggers
  • with ultra fast attack speed, you'll get excellent sustain with shielding and life on hit mechanics
  • It's easygoing, looks cool and casual gameplay. No Reliance on either resources or cooldowns, just jump and zap.

START

  • Play your seasonal journey, so you have done at least chapter 3
  • Finish your second Greater Rift and you'll get a "Legacy of Dreams" legendary gem (aka LoD). Run few Greater Rifts more and level it up as high as you can, preferably to level 25, but this is not essential at start.
  • Gather "REQUIRED" items through normal running or crafting or upgrading rare items. Or maybe your friends can help you out with sharing loot or helping you at higher difficulties.
  • Slot legendaries (even if they are temporary and not all "RECOMMENDED") or Set items to your gear. but MAKE SURE, you don't have any active set bonuses or the bonus from LoD gem will not work

HOW TO PLAY

  • Teleport around (do not spare teleports) until you find a meaningful amount of monsters or Elite pack and zap them to death
  • Your teleport will have both good damage reduction and low upkeep with 2 runes active (one seleced and wormhole through source). If you feel your AP is depleting, just do few zaps with Spectral Blades between teleport and your AP will be full very quickly.
  • Activate your 2-3-4 skills and don't forget to rebuff them once in at least 10 minutes.
  • This build is quite melee heavy, so try teleporting slightly farther to activate Halo of Karini defensive bonus and then TP back in the middle of the pack
  • If you bother, activate slow time on heavier elites for even higher attack speed, but this is optional.

TIPS

  • If your LoD gem is level 25 or higher, ancient items will provide higher bonus to both dealing more damage and receiving less damage so these ancient version items are you ultimate goal. A good non-essential or set ancient item is better in that slot than any "adequate", even it does not provide any other meaningful legendary bonus.

just a note: this is "Common People" tagged build, so it may not be neither super optimal nor it's designed for super high content. Also, it's mainly designed for casual/solo playstyle.
