GEAR
In this edition, we will be using the new Mundunugu's Regalia set that focuses on the Spirit Barrage Skill! The Items are spelled out fairly in-depth above so I will not go into too much detail here, but I wanted to explain a few things before we get into the nitty-gritty. First off, this build tends to be on the squishier side of the spectrum, and as such we have made several choices in order to boost survivability. Damage creep has been kind to the platers of Diablo 3 which means even with all the focus on defensive items, we will not be without enough damage. The two major choices in this regard are the Captain Crimson's and the Endless Walk sets. Both of these will offer large amounts of defense while Captain Crimson's has the opportunity to buff our damage at the same time.
*Note* The individual pieces of the Captain Crimson's set that are worn do not matter. Just wear two.
*Note* As an Intelligence class, we will receive 1 point of All Resist for every 10 points of Intelligence. Keeping this in mind, we will be especially vulnerable to physical damage. It is important that when attempting to min-max your gear that you search for gear that has armor as a primary stat and resistances as a secondary.
SKILLS
The skill choices are fairly cookie-cutter and should be easy enough to understand.
- Spirit Barrage uses the Manitou rune to help automate our build a little, and because it gains the increased attack speed from our Gazing Demise.
- Locust Swarm uses the Pestilence rune in order to help spread the debuff and allow us to focus on other things. This also helps maintain our mana.
- Spirit Walk - I chose the Jaunt rune because I like the extra time to get out of dodge, but you can use whatever you like. Severance is also popular.
- Piranhas use the Piranhado rune to help group the enemies while providing the damage increasing debuff.
- Big Bad Voodoo uses the Ghost Trance rune which will help to keep us alive. You do much less damage when you are dead.
- Soul Harvest - Languish has been a staple of every WD build since the dawn of time. MORE DEFENSE. NUFF SAID!
- Rush of Essence helps to keep our mana levels up. Casting Locust Storm will drain your mana very fast.
- Spirit Vessel will give us a cheat death in case we mess up or get a little too greedy for those pretty purple orbs.
- Grave Injustice will help us passively gain back our mana and health as enemies die around us. This skill will also reduce CD of skills.
- Swampland Attunement is a free 120 resistance to physical, poison, fire, and cold. Stay away from the lighting and arcane!
CUBE
The cube is also pretty basic stuff. The Barber could be swapped with the Sacred Harvester, though it is generally better to cube it in order to make sure you get the entire multiplier. The Mask of Jeram will increase the damage of our pets by 200%. Our pets in this build are the Spectres that will be placed by the Phantasm rune for Spirit Barrage which is given to us for free by the Gazing Demise. You may have up to three of these placed at any given time, and the Mask of Jeram will increase the damage of all of them by 200%. Lastly, the Ring of Royal Grandeur. As with the weapon, you may swap this ring out for the Ring of Emptiness, but because the RORG only drops from bounties, it's usually easier to cube this. However, if you have an extra, it is advised that you reroll it until you get the stats you need in order to cube the RoE. This, however, is expensive and shouldn't be done until the mid-late season.
GEMS
The three legendary gems are fairly set in stone when it comes to true end-game pushing. However, feel free to play around with them for farming or lower-level runs.
It is mandatory that you use a diamond in your helm in order to get the best out of Captain Crimson's Regalia and an emerald in your weapon for maximum damage. The 5 remaining gems that go in your armor and pants slots can be either topaz for added damage, or diamonds if you feel like you need a bit more survivability.

Paragon
Paragon points are mostly a set and forget thing these days. The important thing is to make sure you pay attention to your overall speed within the details tab of your character sheet. Place paragon points into movement speed until that number shows 25% without any skills going and while in town. The rest can then go into main stat.
*Note* that the paragon level needed to fully fill all stats within the Offence, Defense, and Utility tabs is 800. After this, all points will go into main stat.
Build Guide
This build is meant to be a solo push build. As I am able to test more group content throughout the season I will come back and update the build on the viability and any changes that are needed in order to take your group play as the Witch Doctor to the next level!
It has been a very long time since I have released a build guide on Diablo Fans but my previous builds have been very well-liked and I hope that this one is no different! I am back on the Witch Doctor with the new set and loving it!!! Please ask any questions that you have or suggestions on improvements and I will do my best to get back to everyone as quickly as I can!
Good hunting and may RNGsus be with you this season!!!
Just a question had someone else got a Mundunugu piece roll with Strength instead of Int i had to roll Int on my Chest piece now it has both and no i could not reloll the Strength for Int?
I'm sorry it took so long to get back to you! The best thing to do in this situation is to take it to the cube and use the reforge legendary option. This will reroll ALL stats on it, but it will always be with stats that your class uses. In this situation int. I hope this helps!
Also, if the other rolls are good enough to keep, then rerolling the str for int is also a very viable option. It is just hard to make the call without seeing the item myself.
Hi. I'm curious why you don't use Voo's Juicer equipped in your Spirit Barrage builds, it can give 45-60% damage bonus to SB.
Hello! This is a great question that I should have mentioned in the build guide. The reason we do not use the Voo's Juicer is that we just do not have room in the build for everything. When it comes down to it, the 60% damage increase is just not nearly as high as the other multipliers we have in the build. The Barber is 500% and the Mask of Jeram is a 200% increase. We need the Ring of Royal Grandeur in order to wear the Captain Crimson's set and the Sacred Harvester is a WD MUST. That really just doesn't leave much room. It is too bad bc the Voo's Juicer is an interesting weapon, but until it is buffed to match its competitors, it just isn't viable right now.
So why do you have ROE but no haunt? Am I wrong in assuming that you have to have BOTH Haunt and Locust Swarm to get the ring to proc?
That was the case until this season. Before the season launched, there was a patch that allowed the ring multiplier to take effect as long as at least ONE of the buffs were active. This allows us to keep a skill slot open for other things.
Ok, that makes sense.
I'm definitely missing something. If I use crimson on legs and boots don't I lose my Mandunugu's 6piece bonus?
That's why RoRG is cubed by necessity. If you don't have it, farm Act 1 bounties because it only comes out of the Horadric Cache from completing the bounties.
See my previous post...
Thanks makes sense
Just started playing again and just read the guide. Just wanted to say this is a very detailed guide and I'm looking forward to leveling as a WD
A poor man's alternative for Mask Of Jeram in the cube may be The Grin Reaper. While not as damage heavy, the mimics do cast SB. This may have the benefit of more bombs for less damage at lower Torment levels. Currently wiping T7 using all my pets.
Guys, for God sake, how u guys handle the 120+ GR rift bosses? im having a big trouble to kill high rifts guardian
Is this still in effect even out of season? What should we use instead if not?
