Introduction
Over the last few seasons, people have requested that I make a guide for speedfarming Greater Rifts with Unhallowed Essence Multishot. Now that there are a few new powers introduced in Patch 2.6.6 to refine the build, the time has come to produce that guide! This build is particularly good for solo Demon Hunters that are looking to speed mid-tier Greater Rift content (90 to mid 100s) for fast gem leveling and decent experience. Once you get one of the better pylons for the build, things particularly accelerate and you should get average clears in the 2.5 minute mark.
Why I Use What I Use & Gearing Options
In my testing (see the video below), I simulated being decently geared by removing nearly all of my Paragon from Dexterity except what you would have at Paragon 800. I still had good pieces with augments on them, so it landed me with around 12,000 Dexterity and I also still benefited from some high level gems. The point is to showcase that even before you get to a higher Paragon level or have amazing gear, you can still take great advantage of the build and your speed clears will only go higher/get better as you further gear your Demon Hunter out.
The first choice comes in the amulet slot. Traditionally, you would use a Hellfire Amulet since Demon Hunters have great passives, but both Flavor of Time and Squirt's Necklace have very awesome powers for Multishot now. In my testing, I found Squirt's to be a bit inconsistent. It was great when it was active, but you'll be surprised by how often you get hit by things if you're not playing carefully and playing carefully is pretty counter to speedfarming. You want to be aggressive and blitz through the GRs, so I prefer Flavor of Time currently. Good luck finding a well-rolled one! If you get even a decent one, it also helps you meet your 37% CDR requirement for 100% uptime on Vengeance with a Dawn in the weapon slot of Kanai's Cube.
For bracers, I think the choice that will consistently produce the fastest GR clears will be Nemesis Bracers. You already want to see pylons because of your Flavor of Time, so this makes them doubly rewarding. If you find your defense to be lacking, however, you can opt to use Wraps of Clarity instead. The reworked Captain Crimson's should help you feel tankier in general though, so I think you only need one more source of damage reduction, which is what the Visage of Gunes in the armor slot of Kanai's Cube takes care of. It is worth noting though that if you find yourself not being able to manage your Hatred well, what you can do is put Cindercoat in your Cube. This essentially grants you near infinite Hatred.
For passives, I would go for the four I equipped above. However, if you're playing Hardcore, you may want to substitute Ambush for Awareness.
Put Flawless Royal Diamonds in your chest, pants, and helm and a Flawless Royal Emerald in your weapon.
Make sure you have Max Discipline rolls for secondaries on your Cloak, Quiver, and Bow.
Everything else, including CDR requirements and ideal affixes, should be self-explanatory or further explained in the video below! Good luck in
Season 18!

Excellent guide! Would a Leorics in the cube be a worthy alternative on SC? Best of luck on Friday night!
The more and more you stack of CDR, the more it will diminish in terms of added damage. 50% damage reduction from Gunes would be more worthwhile in allowing you to play more aggressive rather than watching out for everything.
Looks fun
Shouldn't CC 20%, paragon 10%, and gem 12.5% give you 37% CDR for the vengeance uptime?
The one thing that should be mentioned is the absolutely ludicrous amount of bounties that need to be farmed in order to both find the plans and to craft the two pieces of Crimson in Ancient form.
It is good to have CDR on 3 other items because it will boost the DPS, Either way, with the 20% on Crimson's Vengeance shouldn't be a problem. Prior to the new set bonus I had no problems, now I overlap it because my CDR is more than enough.
I don't know how it is on seasonal but on non-season, the Crimson recipe dropped after my first bounty... I've read that some people have had a hard time finding it but this wasn't the case for me. Other than that, yes, to be able to craft a near-perfect ancient would take some time, depending on your luck but at least this is something fairly new to go after, if all other items are okay For me, it's okay because I decided not to do the season and the Crimson items were the thing for me to go after.
Run Impale until you get the pieces.
Yeah, there's a bit of RNG to getting the Captain Crimson plan for sure. Some people get it right away while doing their first set of bounties and others have gone hours of bounty hunting without getting it. I'm surprised they made it so rare, but it works out either way, since, like you said, you need bounty materials to get good Captain Crimson pieces crafted anyway. Good luck!
I got my Crimson set instantly off my first Bounty. However, it's the rest of the gear that is being tough.
I was just wondering, since Stone of Jordan can roll 10 discipline, and im sure some other ring in the game also can roll it, is it worth to put 2 rings with +10 max discipline each instead of Focus and Restraint, I mean, it would be 7000% more damage, instead of the around 100% damage?
Can this build be adapted at all for bounties? Are you planning to do a separate bounty build? Would love one! Thanks for the great DH guides!
The Belt and Legs where can i get recepie for them. Or are they only avavible on season
you aren't plugging it into the full equation. mathematically anything passed 80 max discipline will only net you 3-4% more dmg. FnR is a separate multiplier of 125%. FnR is 125% = .50 x .50 +1. And yes all of this has been known for the passed 3-4 years. This is also why the premise of the build has stayed to same.
FnR is BiS because its raw damage versus endless walk. EW is pretty much only used if you are horrible at stutter stepping. So yes, you can go glass cannon with the new ammy, but since you are guaranteed to get all 5 pylons (you need to manipulate the spawns of the pylons correctly), its best to use Flavor of Time.
Hi. Need your guidance. I'm following your your advise and I'm wearing unhallowed essence set. But how am I able to achieve bonus 6 set but in fact I just have 5 and legs replace with crimson set...
