Important Note:
Max Fury under priority is really Max Essence.
Looking for:
Items that increase:
(1) Max Essence
(2) Multiplicative Pet / Weapon Dmg Increase
(3)
Worn Items:
- Reilena's Shadowhook - Needs: Int, +Dmg, CHC, as many sockets as possible. If you can get Attack Speed and CHD also added those would great, though I'm not sure if that is too many primary stats. 2H weapons provide more DPS than 1h (even more than Jesseth Arms set with set bonuses).
- Rathma Set (except for one piece, your choice) - With the Ring of Royal Granduer this is a full set with all the bonuses, the cooldown benefits AotD, the damage reduction keeps you alive, and the Skel Mage benefits the entirety of this build. The only potential draw back is using Mask of Scarlet Death, which reduces the effectiveness of the cooldown on AotD gained from this set (because it will take a while to get all 10 minions going).
- Blackthorne's Battlegear - 2 items (waist and amulet) with RoRG grants the three-items bonus (reducted elite damage received)
- Bracers - Nemesis Braces would help with getting through GRs quicker, but Reaper's Wraps help restore essence quickly. Match Reaper's Wraps with Life From Death and use Devour Aura and this would give a lot of Essence. That combo has potential. Will need to test.
- Krysbin's Sentence - When you stun enemies with Bone Spike it allows your AotD and minions to deal +300% damage.
- Ring of Royal Grandeur - This let's you wear one less piece of Rathma without missing out on the 6-set bonus. It gives you some flexibility, so if you think there is a better piece of equipment for a certain part of the body, you can swap out one Rathma piece for another.
- Hellfire Amulet (MAYBE?) - Get this with the Spreading Malediction passive ability. This will help you clear a room and focus on the elites quicker.
- Dayntee's Binding - this is a requirement for all necromancers, really. The 50% damage reduction in essence doubles your toughness by simply having a single enemy with a curse. That alone with half of this build can get you to GR50.
Legendary Gems
- Bane of the Powerful - At rank 25 this gains damage reduction against elites, which compounds with Blackthorne's Battlegear
- Bane of the Stricken - does this also apply to pets attacking consecutively? If yes, this likely gives them the rank 25 boost against bosses / rift guardians.
- Gogok of Swiftness - Increased DPS, plus rank 25 gives up to 15% cooldown reduction
- Alternate = Moratorium - Staggered damage, at rank 25 there is 20% chance to clear all staggered damage on kill
- Alternate = Mutilation Guard - Max of 22.5% melee reduction, rank 25 gives the ability to move unhindered when below 50% Life (good to avoid being trapped).
Kanai's Cube:
- Bone Ringer - The longer your minions fight an elite the more Grisly Tribute will heal, because your pets attack increasingly fast healing you 10% of your Life On Hit each time. The longer the battle goes, the more Life Per Second you receive.
- Mask of Scarlet Death - (Maybe interchangeable with Fate's Vow which adds Unconventional Warfare rune to AotD) - might be too slow to raise a full 10 revives, but this would be a powerful addition regardless.
- Circle of Nailuj's Evol (Love Julian in reverse??) - Twice the Skel Mage at the same cost? Yes please! Each cast of Skel Mage increases your entire build's DPS by 2000% (instead of just 1000%) up to a total of 4000%. Your AotD will make you nearly untouchable.
Calculations:
Damage Reductions
* 50% - Dayntee's Binding
All Minions Damage
* 4000% = 1000% * Active Mages (Rathma 6-Set Bonus)
* 300% (Krysbin's Sentence buff with Bone Spike Stun Rune)
Revive Minions Damage
* 400% = Default Skill base damage based on weapon damage
* 1500% = 150% * 10 corpses (Mask of Scarlet Death)
* 200% (Circle of Nailuj's Evol raises a second mage)
* +720% = 3% * Essence used (Singularity Rune, at 300 Essence, 900% bonus)
Skeleton Damage
Mage Damage
Army of the Dead (AotD)
* % base damage
* 4000%

Core
Max Essense - Top priority because it increases Skel Mage damage up to 172% based on equipped item stats
Intellegence - More damage boosting
Movement Speed - Helps you move on to the next group of elites in GR quickly
Vitality - Last because health is the least of your concern
Offense
CDR - Obviously, the quicker AotD is ready, the more carnage you can cause and the faster you can take down the next elite group
AS - Two-fold reason: (1) DPS and (2) Bone Spike Essense Regen. The latter helps you get your Essence back faster after each Skel Mage, and keeps the enemies stun-locked.
CHC - More important than CHD, as it boosts you and your pets' DPS significantly. CHD should always be second (because what good is CHD if you hardly ever land a Crit to begin?
CHD - Explained above.
Defense
Life - The higher your health, the more you benefit from certain Life on Hit abilities.
Armor - Tankiness
Resist All - More tankiness
Life Regen - This will never be high enough to make a huge difference.
Utility
AoE Dmg - Bone Spike and AotD both gain massively from this
Life on Hit - This couples with Grisly Tribute, so 10% of this increase is passed on to your minions for them to pass more HP to you
RCR - I'm not sure if this really helps much, but maybe?
Gold Find - Least important, you'll be making enough as it is
Build Guide
BUILD CURRENTLY A WORK IN PROGRESS
BLUF: Maximize Essence to capitalize on Skel-Mages Singularity Rune (DPS), Rathma set to Cooldown AotD (DPS), lots of minions to maximize Grisly Tribute (Survival)
Potential problems:
- Looking pretty good so far, not seeing any at the moment
Gameplay:
1 - Curse enemies to increase their damage taken.
2 - Use Command Skel to have your Skels lead the charge, forcing enemies to target your minions.
3 - Run into the group and cast AotD.
4 - Cast Skel Mage immediately after AotD, use Bone Spike and pop off another Skel Mage to rapidly raise an army of Singularity Mages (to get the Rathma 6-set bonus of +4000% pet and AotD damage).
5 - In between Bone Spike and Skel Mage, cast Revive (Mask of Scarlet Death raise one uber powerful revive each time), also cast Frailty on new enemies joining the fray.
6 - After six to ten seconds of this, you should have about 6-8 fully empowered mages, 3-4 revives, and AotD should have nearly cooled down with your minions having such high attack speed and each hit healing you along with reducing AotD's cooldown.
7 [optional] - During GR, DO NOT cast AotD if elites are dead. Save it, grab the Rift orbs and move on to the next group of elites (I don't bother with non-elite units, they really are just resource builders to me; corpses, Life/Essence on Hit (Grisly Tribute and AotD), and Cooldown on Hit).
