Unexpected error crash immediately after launching game

  • Diablo 3 is not playable anymore. Upon launching the application, D3 will immediately crash and give me an "unexpected error". Here is a report ID for the issue:

It seems that quite a few people have had this problem as well. I've already searched for a fix on multiple occasions. Deleting all Blizzard related files and reinstalling doesn't work. Is there a timeline for when this problem will be sorted?
  • Heyo!

Took a look at the crash logs tied to that error code and the main thing that stands out is this line:
    <code>DBG-MODULE<0000000000450000 00037000 "RTSSHooks64.dll"</code>
That dll is generally included with MSI Afterburner so we'd suggest uninstalling that and giving the game a try ^_^
  • If the issue was MSI Afterburner then its a conflict with their software causing Diablo III to crash. You can try reinstalling it and making sure its up to date. Apart from that though, there may not be much else we can do as the game does run with the program gone.

You look to be on Nvidia drivers version 359.40 which look to be a bit over a year old. Let's grab the latest drivers here and give the 64 bit client another try.
  • @Sheetal
The drivers I'm seeing in each of those crash logs look to be from 2014. Let's try installing the Crimson Edition 16.2.1 Beta drivers here.

The GPU isn't being reported in your crash log. Mind posting a DxDiag report?
