  • This Focused Feedback thread is dedicated to The Darkening of Tristram 20th Anniversary event, a re-imagined homage to the events of the original Diablo game.

Here 's a rundown of what the new, limited-time event entails:
A mysterious group of Cultists is stirring up trouble! Hunt them down in Adventure Mode to uncover clues that reveal a portal into Tristram’s past, and rediscover the terrifying darkness that took hold of the town so many years ago…This event is only available in January
Please note that the anniversary event features a pre-cursor eventThis will start a few hours before the rest of the event is available on the PTR

    Features for this event include:
A custom-built 16-level dungeon filled with monsters, bosses, and mini-quests that have been updated or recreated to represent the events of the original Diablo gameRetro-Vision Graphics FilterRetro-style sound effects and animationsThrowback cosmetic and collectible itemsSeveral new achievements and rewards

For more details on what changes have been made in Patch 2.4.3, please see our PTR Patch Notes.

If you'd like to include a build, feel free to link your Armory page or use a service like D3 Planner. What do you like most about The Darkening of Tristram? What areas of the event do you feel could use improvement?

With that said, thank you to all our PTR participants. Your feedback is appreciated and continues to be integral to our design and iteration process. Happy testing!

  • I think it's worth reiterating that, during our BlizzCon presentations, we probably should have been more clear that this event is a reinterpretation rather than a true 1:1 recreation. The event overall is meant more as an homage and an opportunity for players to delve into a unique experience reminiscent to the original game while still taking advantage of the tech and combat systems of Diablo III.

Again not sure what the above is referring to. Did I miss the pre-cursor event and that is why I couldn't find a starter quest?

Correct; the pre-cursor event was only live on PTR for a couple of hours. The primary reason for its inclusion on PTR was to ensure the event rolled over properly.
