Some of these upgrades have IAS on them. The 8% is always cheaper than the 9% - but my philosphy was that if I was going to drop a lot of gold on something, it might as well be the best I can get for that specific attribute. Its just going to be gold you have to spend down the road.
New Main Hand with a socket
- Going for something slow with your Echoing Fury is fine - but you need that socket and the CCD you can gain from it. I would suggest looking for one that has lifesteal on it, rather than life on hit. Once you are above 100k dps, you gain so much more from lifesteal than life on hit.
- You are going to lose vit and resists. Unless you can afford a pair with it - but my approach was to go for as much dex and CC that I could afford at the time.
- A pair with all resists is going to be expensive. So I went for a pair that has my chosen resist on it. Look for something with CCD in the high 30s to low 40s.
- You can go for a ring with CC on it - but again its going to be rather expensive. I haven't invested in these yet, because the price difference between a ring without CC on it and one that does have it - is huge. So I'm waiting. But with the two pieces you can add another 7% CC.
Check out this dps calculator site: http://theasiangamer...age-calculator/ and play with the numbers in your armor. I theorycraft there, to see how adding IAS or CC will affect my dps.
Hope it helps.

I would focus on DPS upgrades and mow through lower MPs. Then you don't have to care so much about EHP and more about clear speed. It doesn't sound very intuitive, but I find that as I upgrade my DPS it helps my survivability in higher mps more that defensive abilities. High dps directly increases your life steal and reduces the average number of hits you take from enemies. All you really need in EHP is enough to take the hardest hit or two anything can dish out, as long as you have enough life steal/life on hit to get it back quickly.

The gear that I'm using on the live server was to farm mp3 for paragon exp grinding. I haven't played on the live server in a few weeks, as I'm waiting for the patch before I go back to the exp grind. My chosen resist is fire - I use a Cindercoat as my chest - which gives me 111 fire resist and a lot of dex and vit. I also have rare shoulders with 150 vit or so and high fire resist and all resist.
Total I have 749 all resists with OWE and 40k life. I only have the 2.6% life steal from the off hand I have loaded now in my armory tag. This is enough for me right now to stay alive in mp7. To go up higher, I will need another 2.5% at least. I can take Reflect Damage at mp7 or so, fairly well. But I wouldn't worry about it too much - because in the new patch you can see when the mobs are reflecting damage back at you and you can slow down your dps or move away.
If you get lifesteal - you will be pleased I think.
This is going to get you a bit higher - but to be able to get above 200k dps and compensate for the loss of vit and resists - you are going to have to get the cookie cutter gear like a Crit Mempo, Nat's ring with CC and so forth.
To comment on JKlimek's post: right now farming at mp1 is the way to go. However with 1.0.7 and the significant boost to exp gain per mp level - farming at higher mp is the way to go. Imo.
edit: typos and I are good friends

I suspected, that higher DPS means higher survivability, but I don't know, how much EHP i can sacrifice without being one-two-three-shotted

Agreed. I was speaking from an exp gain point of view rather than an item point of view - as the item hunt for me will be based around finishing up the 100 paragon level.
