For farming paragon levels, the most efficient MP usually MP0. This is because lets imagine a mob has 100HP and you have 100Damage per hit, it will take you 1 hit to kill that mob. Lets imagine that the mob give 100XP. (All these numbers are made up btw for the example). This means if you kill 100 mobs an hour, you gain 10,000 xp.
If you switch to MP1, the mobs have 150% HP. So in this example they have 150HP. You are still doing 100 damage which means it will take you 2 hits to kill the mob. It basically takes you 2x the speed to kill each mob, but you gain LESS than 2x the benifits. Even with 1.0.7 the gain is not 100% per MP level. So with the current numbers of 10% bonus EXP, you will get 110XP per kill. However because it took you 2 hits not 1, you can only kill 50 mobs per hour. This means your xp/h on MP1 is 50x110 = 5,500xp.
As you can see, MP0 was giving you 10kXP/hour but MP1 was giving you 5.5k/h. Which means MP0 is better. Because of the way the scaling works, even with the BEST gear in the game, you will never be able to reach MP10 and farm efficiently for paragon.
(Please note that this is not the only consideration, things like travel time do factor into this and other small factors but this is the basic of the logic)
The best paragon farming spec for monk atm I think is tempest rush. I have build myself a set recently and my GF and although neither of them are perfect, and some items were bought and then I realised they were a mistake, each set cost about 50mill.
If you spent some time you could spend 100mill on a tempest rush set that would be really good for farming MP0 act 3 and 1 shotting all the mobs to be as efficient as possible. 100mill gold costs $25.
You are free to spend your money how you like, but my advice is to spend $25 and build a really nice tempest rush set while you farm paragon levels, and learn more about the game. As you learn more, you will know what stats/items/etc to go for, and will also have found items in game.
Being the top 200 geared for PvP is pointless, as there is no queue, and you can only fight people who agree to fight you. Chances are, this will be people with the same gear as you. or people who have more experience and skill than you. Which means gearing up for pvp when you are new to the game at such a high cost is a waste of money and tbh, time.
Search youtube for "tempest rush monk" and look for the video by "LastHopeForRaoha". He explains the build and also the gear. The only personal thing I changed from his build is using blade storm glyph for sweeping winds, and i cannot remember if he uses seven sided strike but I do for elitest. Blade storm = better for white mobs but not as strong as cyclone for elites. But with SevenSidedStrikes you can 1shot all eliests. Customise the build as you like. With 1.0.7 snapshot changes, chances are this will be a more standard tempest rush build anyway.
But remember, this will cost you no more than 100mill ($25) inc good crit gems and exp gems for helm.

I'll just say: Spending real money on this should be limited and is mostly for people who are investing a lot of time into this game. You can have a lot of fun without spending a single dollar, some would even say you'll have the most fun without spending anything at all. Learn the game first, knowledge is power. Wouldn't be much fun anyway to spend all that money now only to find a few months later when you're familiar with the game that your investment was all wrong.

I got the game a few days ago and hit level 60 paragon 3 with the help of my friend i fell in love with the game but cant really find any good items cause i'm only able to play on inferno lvl 2.
i need help making a build for around 1000$ i have no idea how the item system works and i have yet to find a legendary. only rare items.
My friend was telling me about end game items and i would be interested i'm buying some if i had a complete set.
Any ways i hope this site and its users can help with my problem.
You're SO LATE to this party it's not worth dropping that much money on it if you were thinking you'd find enough items to sell and break even or profit.

Ok first off you are the shit
Thanks for you're input, i just read what you said and i decided to spend about 300$ on gear to farm mp0-3 not 1000$
I doubt ill be interested in doing PvP at all until i have played the game for at least another 400 hours :/
I have been farming mp0 with what i have now just to learn how to use my build a bit more, and so far its working pretty good

That being said, there's some pretty standard best in slot pieces that usually are universally good for all classes.
A high end mempo of twilight with 5%+ crit. A solid witching hour. A Vile Ward with lots of Dex. A lacunis and of course being a monk, inna's pants accompanied with probably a second inna's piece.
Take all that with a grain of salt. Again, check out the videos for more in-depth advice on specific gear.
Also, on a side note, don't give any mind to these people bitching at you for spending a grand on the game. I personally haven't spent any money personally, but I'm a huge advocate for spending money towards your hobbies. If dropping some cash on the game allows you to get more enjoyment out of it, and you don't mind spending it, power to you man! Enjoy!
Oh pitiful shadow lost in the darkness,
Bringing torment and pain to others.
Your damned soul wallowing in your sin.
Perhaps...
it is time to die.

Also note that Blizzard plans at one time in the future to nerf the passive one with everything, so I wouldn't invest in gear that goes towards that (trying to stack all resis on gear plus a certain resis on the same gear).

I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is and personally walk you through the process of purchasing items if you haven't already done so because I hate it when people waste money without realizing it. In fact, we'll take your $300 and start with the same $50 I spent. I'm betting that's plenty and that whatever we DON'T use you can donate to me, to your cookie fund, to a random stranger in this thread, to charity or whatever else you want.
I have helped many people purchase gear sets both on my stream (have stopped streaming for the moment) and via 1 on 1 sessions like what I'm offering you. I have an strong understanding of the game and know how to work the AH. I can actually TEACH you how to continue buying good gear rather than just pointing you in the direction and hoping you don't mess up.
If you're interested in my offer, shoot me a private message and we'll discuss what kind of build(s) you want to use and how we'll get you there.

I have not spent any money yet.
I am just playing with my build as is on mp0 right now to learn what to do with skills and all that stuff.
I would like to be able to farm mp1-3 without the risk of dying... but i understand it's as much skill based as it is item based.
I just might take you up on that offer but i'm pretty set on what i want to spend.

If your budget is $1,000 you can easily add $20 to the game to buy gold with. That will get you 80m to play with. You can get a very nice set of gear for 80m, and if you blow it on a bad investment? It is worth the education. Twenty out of a thousand is not very much, and it will give you a boost to your performance so you can really experience the game.

Right so me stating that this game wasn't worth $60 is complaining and saying that doing uber runs repetively is also complaining? Make sense before saying anything. The fact is that games that are similar to this game, again let me say this again, games that are similar as in not exactly the same, aren't that high. PoE and torchlight 2 were games I've played and I've enjoyed playing PoE more than torchlight and diablo 3, yet PoE is free as of now. I'm also stating this so people like inglewood doesn't drop $1000 on a game that its all about pay to win, as in no skills required, as in doesn't take a rocket scientist to just level your paragon levels to 50+ where items drop for you to either use or trade. And not to mention that the fastest way to level up your paragon is doing act 3 runs on MP0-MP2 with mediocre gears. So when I said that the game isn't worth $60 and all you do is run uber bosses plus level paragon, you don't need to drop $1000 for that.

For one thing, damage output is very random in d3 due to crit chance, crit dmg, and large ranges between min and max dmg on weapons so the 1 hit vs 2 hit example doesn't really ever happen. Because of the randomness, 150% more hp translates into 150% more time to kill on average unless you can kill it in 1 shot with a low roll non-crit.
I can't really comment on monks in particular since I don't enjoy it, but aoe'ing is a big part of efficiency and for some classes/builds if you kill things too quickly then there's no time to regain resources from procs and the whole build falls apart. You need to pick an MP level just high enough that you're not killing things too quickly nor too slowly.
To figure out what's most efficient for you, it's best to keep track of a few runs on different MP levels and see which one gives you the most xp/time or drops/time or whatever you're farming for.

OT : Man spend as little as possible, learn the game play and see if you really enjoy it. You are para 3, you havent even played basically.Reach para 50 then think about what you're gonna do. You can get a gear set that alows you to do Mp1 with your eyes closed for 10 mil if you know what you're buying. (hell I've done a set that allows you to do that for 1mil, a month ago , so that set is prolly worth ~300k right about now ).
There is trully no sense in spending that large a chuck'o'moneehh on a game that is based on finding gear to sell/to wear.300 is way too much. You are going to get some pieces of gear that in order to upgrade them you would need 2bil+ gold per piece. And most likely you arent going to find so many 2bil stuff to sell.So take it easy and enjoy the ride.

That's 100% wrong.
I farm MP10 all the time. Anything else is out of the question. I did low mp for paragon lvls ofc, but now the only challenge is MP10. And look at Invis and other streaming monks. They do MP10 100% of the time when farming.
