Hi just wanted to see what your guys thoughts were on what will happen with prices of crafting materials when they release the notes on crafting imoprovements. Is it a good time to invest now?

I highly doubt they will fix crafting in one or even 2 patches.  An expansion *might fix it but i wouldnt hold my breath.  Save your money.

best investment right now are flawless square amethysts, they are bound to go up to 3-4k when next patch hits since there will be massive demand for life/life%

I don't think it's going to take as much time as Nodnarb presumes, but I honestly don't know if they have anything in mind in terms of crafting for 1.0.7. Patch notes are coming really soon though, so hang on to your seats. :)

Before logging off I seen prices at the 8k mark.

Whatever, crafting prices are winding up just because the expected raise in demand. It's not a real demand yet, just AH sharks doing their gamble. If you got a huge stock of materials wait until prices peak.

I'm certain the prices will flop once the patch hits (or right after we see the details on PTR), just like with Fiery Brimstones in 1.04.

I expect that rubies will settle to be more expensive than yesterday though, after the initial rush passes.

If you do decide to speculate in gems and crafting mats during the hype of a new patch, I advice you to sell right before the patch actually hits and prices are at their peak. Every time I've seen the AH prices go bananas over a hype, this was the exact right tactic for most mats - prices stooped in a matter of days after the patch went live. I can't tell you you have to follow this advice but keep it in mind.

Instead of before the patch do it before PTR release.
