So according to http://www.d3rmt.com...-house/gold/us/ gold is now at an all time low, only $0.25 per million.
This this is about as low as it can go or do you think it will continue to fall and fall and fall forever?

It will fall until a PTR hits, or the next patch notes are posted.
A lot of people are just selling items and gold right now, and not playing. Waiting for the next patch, or any news on whats coming next and why. The same thing happens every patch cycle. There are a ton of people who only play D3 for a month or so after a patch, then lose interest and stop.
Partly because they are impatient, but mostly because Blizzard can't seem to figure out a system that holds our attention for longer.

Someone on IRC mentioned that $0.25 is the cheapest it can go, that it's a minimum. Is this correct?

Yes, $0.25/1M gold is the lowest battlenet will let it go. So if you're a buyer, nows the time to buy like crazy.

Seems like a waste of money right now for a dying game. I mean if they bring out PVP anytime within this year then maybe it's a good investment to buy now and sell later.
But if you're buying gold to use for an item then you're just wasting your money.
