If you get free 800 stat points, where would you put it?

I am not biased to either side as I don't know what will happen if they really allow stat allocation, but I would like to know. So my question is how would YOU allocate stat points if it's allocatable. Assume that the total stat that can be allocate is 800 points. (imaginary number, but makes sense as it has to be not too low or it won't matter, and not too high or gears won't matter.) Remember that these points are PERMANENT; you can't respec.
I assume you either want it in damage stat (str int dex depending on classes) or vit. Also assume that 800 points is at lvl 60 and paragon level does not give more allocable stat.

only main stat and vit.. i think most people would choose 800 main stat and 0 vit, especially the ranged classes. but i am eager to see what the results are.

- Vitality/Life % is much easier to get from items than dps stats
- MP10 EHP requirement is easily attainable compared to the dps requirement
- Most MPs don't require high EHP anyways.
- Mainstat provides nice boost to passive defenses/EHP too (except maybe for Barbs, they get only a minor boost).

Also, I play a wizard solely, and vit isn't all that great for us after a certain point. For low MP Archon, I don't need much because the mobs don't hit hard. For high MP CMWW I don't need a lot of hp because I have diamond skin to absorb most damage done to me. I only need enough hp to not get 1 shot by Mag's swarm or to give a little buffer against burst damage. Any more hp than 35-40k for me is mostly wasted.
My wizard, mostly useful for killing demons and collecting loot.

And if you made it so you could never change stats once chosen.......yah, no. If they did that everyone who played from the beginning would have most of there stats in Vit, and be cursing Blizz right now (more than they already are
In D2 it was highly encouraged to make many different characters, and even if you had just one, there were resets. D3 has no resets, anything that they make permanent is a bad idea. Unless they go with the D2 system and encourage lots and lots of alts.....but I think it's clear thats not going to happen. For whatever reason, they want you to have 1 main.....and at most 1 of each class. Anything more than that is highly discouraged. I dont agree with it, but its true.

D3 stats are terrible for allowing choice. if they wanted players to choose stats they need to rework the whole system. as of now, everyone would pick mainstat, period. and people who split into vit would be kicking themselves once they get gear. in what world is that even a choice, its actually more insulting than taking the choice away like they have done already.

So for me it's all on the damage stat.

...Oh, 800% movement speed sounds pretty cool, too.

But then, the bulk of DPS in D2 came not from the primary stat, but from skills and skillpoints (and a reasonably good weapon).

He said they were free, meaning they are in addition to what we already have.

Dont forget about the 800% increased armour, and the 800% Life steal.

Over 80% of the people who responded to this poll would use no more than 200 in vitality.
That's exactly what people mean when they say "illusion of choice." What choice is that? Based on this poll, the only reasonable choices are "little vitality" and "no vitality at all." In the scheme of allocating 800 stat points that's not really a choice, it's more like a minor formality.
