So I'm trying to choose a good off hand weapon and need some advice.  I have a 1200 DPS echoing fury with socket, Dex, and 700+ LOH.  I've been researching what to get for the off hand weapon and what kind of stats/dps, but the only thing I've found definitively is get as high DPS with good stats as you can.  Makes sense but is a bit vague.  What are my cutoffs for DPS/Stats?  How low should I go in DPS?  Should I go with a fast weapon or slower harder hitting?  I'm going with an IAS/CC build as I think monks generally are.  Doing FoT/Cycone, but I also throw in combination strike and DR/FS.

I do have a WKL with 900 DPS and 64 CD, no socket though.  Should I try and get the best WKL I can get or are there other good weapons I should be looking at.

Any advice that will help me narrow down the parameters of what I'm looking for woulb be greatly appreciated.

Depends what you wanne do? Farm lower mp level for paragon grind? MP10 for ubers? If the loh on ef is your only source of "liferegen" then its not enough for mp10...

- For pure Dmg...Get a mace with highest dps AND avg. dmg you can get along with ccd and open socket. Dex on top if possible
- For surviving mp10 get a fast offhand(dagger, sword or fist) with 3% lifeleech, loh, ccd and open socket. If possible with dex too
. For lower mp xp grind just grab a skorn and try tempest rush builds with "spirit regen gear".

So I'm asking to make the most powerful monk I can.  I TR MP0 with Skorn for farming.  I have around 1100 LoH not counting off hand.  I'm not necessarily trying to do MP10 Ubers, would be nice though, I'm just trying to figure out what offhand type/dps I need to increase my damage so I can get towards those higher MP's and generally put out as much damage as possible.

EF is in first place an offhand. People just tent to use it as a mainhand since they are only looking on the wep dps and not for the min/max dmg and dmg range...

But its hard to tell without knowing the whole character. You might post your battletag?

You just farm mp0/1 since your res and vit is kinda low? Some rules i follow when building a gearset myself...

- Make up my mind what spec i wanne play. The classic FoT/SW Cyclone build requires a good mainhand and a statstick as offhand if played properly i.e. activate sw when the mainhand is active and you are fully dmg buffed from boh and bf.
- Get enough vit for what you wanne do. 40k is a good goal for anything up to mp3/4
- Have a decent amount of res. Prefer stacking resist over all res since its cheaper!
- Have enough loh/lifeleech to survive the worst packs i.e. reflect phase beast or demon tremors in act3
- Use either only 2pc inna´s or get the 4pc bonus. 3pc bonus is just meh

Start gettin more dps if basic things are sorted.

So things i would work on:

- Get a good rare chest with lots of vit(at least 200), a total of at least 100 resist, some dex and 3 open sockets
- Make up your mind what kind of resist you wanne stack. Your shoulders havin poison and the bracers cold resist. Keep one and sell the other item. I would keep the bracers and just sell and rebuy the shoulders.
- Get gloves with +150dex, +9% crit chance, +30% crit damage and high stacking res roll. If possible a vit roll on top.
- Your current neck just offers a shit load of dex and armor(from strenght) but it lacks crit damage. Try get a neck with lower dex but havin crit damage, stacking res and maybe some avg. dmg on it. A vit roll would be nice too. Depends if its within your budget,

In terms of weps i would use the ef as an offhand. Try to get a high dps with high average dmg mace or spear  as mainhand with lifeleech and open socket. This wont be cheap but in the long run its what you want for this spec.

Well, I've actually been running without OwE for quite a while.  I've only recently decided to go back to it.  I have a poison/AR belt that I usually where with this spec and with OwE that gives me 650 AR and 36K life.  I've been key farming and Ubers (in a group) on MP 5&6 with no problems whatsoever with around 500AR and 30K life (my character is usually the highest DPs in the group).  Maybe it's a difference in playstyle but I don't feel I need really high resists for surviveabilitey.  If you want to stand still and facetank then yeah you probably need higher resists.

I farm MP0 max magic find with TR and skorn.  I farm MP1 with max MF and FoT/Cyclone.  You will want to farm MP0 or MP1 (unless you have crazy DPS) for pure efficiency.  Many people have posted many results indicating that lower MP's are far more efficient for everything.  I've dones some testing as well and my results agree with that.  I think everyone has a sweet spot, but it will be a MP lower than 5.

So my monk is still a work in progress, but I do have some good items and good set bonuses.  I agree that I need more crit damage and I'm working on that.  I'm hoping to get a fair amount from second weapon that's why  I'm trying to get advice on how low I can go on DPS or what type of weapon in order  to get the stats I need.  I'm working on finding an amulet with CC and CD and hopefully some resists or life.

I've been very happy with my monk and the playstyle just want to find the best upgrades efficiently without wasting money.  And by money I mean gold as I have not used the rmah.  I've found most of my gear, bought all the Inna's so I could TP efficiently.

Agreed...Prices on the WKL are insane right now.
