I received and e-mail from Blizzard about 3 hours ago stating that my account has been closed..

Said e-mail stated:

Account Action: Account Closure
Offense: Unapproved Third Party Software
A third party program is any file or program that is used in addition to the game to gain an unfair advantage. These programs may increase movement speed or teleport heroes from one place to another beyond what is allowed by game design. It also includes any programs that obtain information from the game that is not normally available to the regular player or that transmit or modify any of the game files.

I have NEVER used, or attempted to use, third party programs while playing diablo 3. I am not looking for sympathy, I am asking for help as to what I should do, and if it is even possible to get my account back. I hope that I am not wasting my time for something that is impossible. I have submitted a ticket to Blizzard, but from what I have read of this happening to other players, they usually send back a generic e-mail and never disclose what the details of the actual offense are. I am in complete shock, and devestated that this has happened to me.

PLEASE HELP!

Edit: I have an authenticator and am the only user of this account.

Maybe your PC got infected and you didn't know it. I can't tell you what to do other than try calling them up and explaining. I dunno if that'd work, but its worth a try.

P.S. Bad luck. :(

Have you tried actually logging in on your account? Is it truly gone?
I hope you didn't click any links in that email and submitting your login information, it might be a scam.

None of the above.. No third party pograms related to D3 period. Just plain and simple D3. Never broke any terms of use.

you possibly got banned by mistake in a bot banwave, it's not the first time this happens. Blizzard isn't perfect and they have banned several innocent players in the past. I would call anyway and give them a talking-to.

If you don't call, say good bye to your account.

If you are genuine, there must be a way.

Make yourself visible, call them, send e-mails, create a forum post. Complaint to a consumer's protection organisation (dont know how they are called in your region) if they don't listen. You are a paying customer, if you did not break the mutual agreement and they still denied you access to a product you paid for, demand at least an apology.

This could actually be a law-suit, even though a bit comedic, considering how little money is involved here. Even if your computer got infected by virus, it cannot be considered 'using' a program with intention.

Well, good luck to you sir, I want to believe that in your case, the ban was just a mistake. Mistakes happen.

...even though the e-mail specifically stated multiple times that calling would do absolutely nothing to resolve this matter, as the customer service reps would NOT have access to this information, or even be able to comment on it for that matter????

I wish I could post on the forums, but battle.net will not let me post on the forums due to the ban.. I sent an email, and opened a ticket. No reply yet. *fingers crossed*

Unfortunately it cant be a lawsuit due to the fact that we all had to agree to the Terms of Use in order to play in the first place. These terms state:

"BLIZZARD MAY SUSPEND, TERMINATE, MODIFY, OR DELETE ACCOUNTS AT ANY TIME FOR ANY REASON OR FOR NO REASON, WITH OR WITHOUT NOTICE TO YOU."
-Blizzard TOU-

You are right, I never bothered reading the legal shit, because I usually don't care. But I'm pretty sure there could still be a case based on a principal of a fair-trade, because law is above agreements.

Anyway threat is always a good weapon, if let's say you have the power to cast shadow on the companie's name, they would be more then willing to rather open your account then go through the shit.

But anyway, this isn't about legal cause, this is more about Blizzard having a sense of fairness. But believe me, you have the power to convince a considerable amount of people that this is bullshit from the companies part and Blizzard certainly doesn't want to that to happen.

pretty sure you'd be laughed at immediately.  The ToS is very clear. So you threatening them over something that is ironclad in their ToS something you sign prior to even playing the game...good luck.

You kidding me?  Look at all the flak they get already about botting, crap content, recycled content, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc in all their games do you think someone complaining about their account got banned is going to do anymore damage? Get real.  My suggestion to the person who got banned would be to run AV/Malware if their truly genuine about not having 3rd party stuff.  Also take into consideration macros from keyboards/mice have also been picked up to be 3rd party software before (something blizzard DOES take into account sometimes). However threatening legal action is a waste of your time and theirs.

I am not kidding you. Company reputation is something they value a lot. You not figuring a creative way does not mean my idea is completely stupid so there is no need to be snide. It actually worked for me (not with Blizzard, even I admitted in my post that this cause would be somewhat... comedic).

On the topic, do you use any programs with your peripherals? Mice and keyboard? Macroing commands might be considered a use of 3rd party programs. What is actually strange is that even the officially approved Diablo 3 mice from steelseries comes with engine that allows use of macros.

Also are you trying to run D on linux? And check your system for any malicious software.
