tl:dr
MP0-4 is to grind paragon levels
MP5-9 is to find gear
MP10 is to get 100% keys/organs, for anything else it's a waste of time

Not really... you can find the same gear at MP1 and if you're steam rolling clears you're finding more loot at a faster pace.  I dropped down to farming MP3-4 and im finding a lot more items over that time span. It ultimately boils down to how fast you're clearing the runs .  As you level higher in paragon levels you can drop down to a lower MF level to scale your overall MF if you so choose.  Thats why most people that I've seen hit 100 para just go to MP1 and clear shit pretty much instantly.

Challenge and efficiency. At some gear levels (This is different from class to class), some higher mp's can be more efficient than lower mp's ( If my ball lightning 1 hits everything in mp1 and 3, and my spiketraps kill elites in the same time span in these same MP's, then MP3 > mp1 for me. This keeps going up until you hit a wall where elite's TTD (Time to Die) isnt compensating for the extra MF you're getting and the extra drops from whites and obviously rares. It's all about finding what's right for you and your current gear, and move from there.

As long as you one-shot white mobs with a multi target skill, you're still efficient at a given MP level. One-shot with a SoJ is even better.

I see you're using Sever (for the proc I guess), can you tell me more about it?
Does it proc often and is it worth it?
Every time you kill a mob you crit for crazy amounts of damage. 10-20million.
This damage will heal you to full with just 2.5% LS. I get healed for ~44k when I kill something with bash.
So basically you pull the elites in a pack of mobs and you never die no mater what they throw at you.
Also the extra damage to demons helps alot in ACT3. Most mobs and champs/elites are demons.

Sever works nice early game,mp0-3 but for higher mp it is rather useless. You can buy them for cheap cheap.

Just an example, was playing mp5-7  for farming gear i got drops, then i went to mp 1 the first trash mob i kill drops me vile ward shoulders...No Valor buff no nothing was paragon level 20, after that i have just been steam rolling mp1 and the drops is allot more than mp5 or higher because at the rate you clearing the runs.  but yah everyone has their sweet spot where they farm and how they farm and what feels right to them.

If MF was pointless, people wouldn't farm paragon to increase it...

I believe people don't farm parangon in order to get more mf, they just farm it because they want to be lvl 100 (ie : for no real reason actually).
I think most people just want to get to 100 and get the mad Alkizer runs over with. Because i just want to get to 100 and not worry about any more grinding :)  it gets really boring

Haven't read any of the other posts, just answering OP: I farm higher MP to have greater chance at keys and organs, all other time I farm mp1 A3 for xp and every now and then some epics.

Me, I think (in my own un-scientific opinion on this) that as you go higher up in the Paragon level, Legenderies come less and less and finally almost non existent if you don't go up in Monster power.   Monster Power 2 for me seems to have dried up completely although I do get some fairly decent rare items. I'm at lvl 22 now and just bumped up to Monster Power 3 which seems to be not too bad as my gear (imho) is fairly good and my game skills are adequate. I suppose I'll likely have to go up another notch as I approach paragon level 30

Nope, Westy357. You're just on a bad streak, shit happens. For example, I didn't find a single legendary item on level 53; for about 100 million XP I killed and killed and killed countless mobs without a single "beam" indicating one of these legendary drops. And to be fair, at level 22 your magic find is not that high anyways.

If you're MF capped (high paragon + some MF items + NV5) you'll find tons of legendaries even on MP0. There's no such thing as "penalty for outgearing content" - rather the opposite, many people who could potentially farm MP5 decide to stay on MP0/1 because it's a bit faster and results in more legendaries/hour.

Questions about wizard gear? Helpful tools? Common wizard builds? What gear for my follower? And what is a black weapon?

Answers to these and many other questions in the Wizard Gear Guide.

Thanks for the info, I just put it back to mp2 because mp3 seems to just tie up more of my time, and if there is no benefit why bother.

As a ww barb i was just farming mp3. It seemed to be the sweet spot. But once my dps started to near 200k, i couldnt even get cyclones started before stuff died and was running out of fury all the time. So i bumped it up to mp4 and it feels fine.
