I can't think of any high level gear that has bonus exp, other than the hellfire ring.

MF is not worth a penny. Sure you find more rare, but how many of the rare is keepable? Like 0.1%. So out of 1000 rare or so, you may have 1 worth keeping.

A ruby in your helm and a Hellfire Ring are worth wearing. If you can afford it, a Leoric isn't too bad either, but on the other hand you can get a lot of DPS for the same money. Don't get Cains Set, it's not worth it.
Put MF on your follower. Your first and only objective in the beginning should be to go DPS all the way. Run act 3 MP0 as fast as you can, and you'll quickly gain some paragon levels. This will give you much more magic find, and in turn you'll find better gear, become faster in leveling, get more gear faster, and so on. Don't waste money on MF/exp gear - just get enough EHP to survive and DPS as much as you can.
Questions about wizard gear? Helpful tools? Common wizard builds? What gear for my follower? And what is a black weapon?
Answers to these and many other questions in the Wizard Gear Guide.

I thought MF also increased the chance you might get a legendary as well as rare and magic items?

Don't 100% agree with this. Cain's set will provide more exp/hr if you are able to clear a run at mp0 (wearing Cain's set) faster than you can clear the exact same run on mp3 (wearing DPS gear).

Funny... you are linking the info, but are you reading it?
Magic find affects the quality of items you acquire from killing enemies (but not treasure chests, vases, weapon racks, or other environmental objects). It doesn’t give you a chance to get more items on a given kill – instead, it increases the chance that an item you find will be magical, and more potent than it would be otherwise.
edit: i suggest farm xp, the first 50ish lvl's go rather fast. 50lvl's = 150%mf/gf

MF is nice to have but it is definitely not required. My view is that is is far more important to have maxed %EXP bonus and high damage output to level Paragon fast rather than get MF on gear but limit your damage/survival. Paragon levels are a boon that boost your damage, survival and MF all at once. Bonus from paragon levels will start to be noticeable at around plevel 40, which is relatively easy to get to.
Drops will come along the way. All you have to do is kill enough mobs.

I would go with XP first. Get to about 50 as quickly as you can then get yourself some MF gear. The 50 levels of paragon are an easy 150 to your main stat, 100 to your vitality and an easy 150% to your MF. That way you can keep your gear high in main stat, vitality and AR then find a couple items that have good MF on them without sacrificing the stats you need.

Look everyone has their own little feeling about MF gear and MF Find, i would just agree to right now focus on max dps out put survival and focus getting paragon level, the loot will come along the way as you farming xp, but don't get me wrong As MF gear does make a differnace
