In the void of pvp i thought it could be fun to see how fast i could do a speedrun on the überbosses. (needed a break from the endless alkizer runs)

I manged to get the killtime down to 10min and 37sec using my throw build. (used my normal high mpl farming build/gear)



Can any of you godly geared ww+tornado/HotA barbs do a run so we can compare the killtime of the different builds ?

The funny thing is that I saw the post and the first thing that sprang to mind was "I bet this is Det0x's vid". I wasn't wrong.

I do play a throw barb myself but I have picked it up recently and a musician's life isn't suited for really fast gearing up, so there is no way in hell I can compete with that.

Deathyz: the trick is to have fury cost reduction on WT and a high crit chance so that your critical hits will generate fury in considerable amounts. Most throw builds don't have a fury generating primary at all, and you'll see variations with Ancient Spear, War Cry, Leap and the like serving as the kick-off fury generator, as the WT spam will fill your bar quite fast from there.

Well, this is what is possible when most of your gear is 95% perfect rolls for all stats. Very nice gear and build. I have been considering trying out a ranged spec recently as my WW spec is starting to get a little stale. I may give this a try later down the line. It obvously wont be as fast for farming, but it may be a better spec for me to run ubers with as I usually 2man them with a DH, sometimes 3 with the DH and a WD (or 2). Seems like it would be fun (though less broken than being able to down IK/Maghda solo through arcane sentries and the bugs without caring whatsoever).

Hi there it might be a stupid Q but how he managed to selfheal so big during the vid with only 2 items 300 hp/sec and no life steal / loh anywhere else ? any one can explain that 2 me ?

IK Belt has LS on it, I just have around 100-120k dps unbuffed and just that heals me fine, (with rend though).  I am sure with his dps he's healing pretty well.

Since nobody responded i made a Hota build run myself.



KIlltime with Throw build = 10min and 37sec
Killtime with HotA build = 9min and 14sec

That fit pretty good with my experience ingame also. HotA got the highest single target damage output, throw comes in on second place, and WW is the lowest singel target damage output build. (of the standard 3 barb builds)

But if we try to compare farming speed (xp/hour) the WW build wins hands down, with throw on second place again, and Hota last.

The reason for this is the AOE damage.

All the main damage from WW is aoe spells, with the throw build you have ricochet (hit 3 targets) + Hota (small aoe), and with the HotA build you only have the small aoe from HotA itself + rend (mostly good for heal).


All three builds is viable in high mpl levels, but you have to modify the HotA build a little if you want to play in low mpl levels..
So you can pick the build that suits your playstyle best.

If we look ahead to the pvp patch i think the throw build gonna be the strongest, but we gotto wait and see

Funny thing is Im sure there will be a video of other classes doing this run faster soon, its just barbs are more motivated and less Emo (for the most part, don't hate me good non-barbs! lol)

On another note, anyone else notice the trend I'm seeing with barbs that the records are done with Throw/Hota Barbs, would like to see if a WW barb can come close, but haven't seen it so far. I think the damage ability of WW has been exagerated far to long, no doubting the speed though (I still use it for low level exp/farm runs)

Very nice, I would have accepted the challenge myself but 1) cant fraps on my comp and 2) I'm not a godly geared barb lol

What are the minimal gear and stats requirements for this build? I would assume SoJ and IK belt with TW bonuses and a decent 300'th Spear (SPARTAAAAA!!!)? Would that work with a 2-hander like Skorn? Is Echoing fury required as one of the weapons?

Hey Det0x... looking back over your video and it hit me that you might be able to shave 30sec or more off your HotA time by using Overpower: Crushing Advance or Killing Spree. As Dual wield HotA you can easily keep those rolling at 100% uptime, as for which is better I'm not entirely positive, I'm fairly certain Crushing Advance would be huge on rak/gom.

Not sure if your even interested and retrying it for a better record but I thought I would throw it out there

Minimal stat requirements are a belt with -5 WT cost and preferably a healthy amount of LS. Lamentations are dime a dozen in the AH if you want to try the build without investing a ton of moolah.

300th Spear isn't essential, but a socketed spear does work very, very well in the higher percentages of WT bonus (45%+ if you can nail it), and the raw damage boost is better than having base crit damage, in spite of what papersheet dps indications would suggest. To not depend on Into the Fray to use a more suitable rune in Battle Rage (Bloodshed is awesome for farming), a Skull Grasp or SoJ with -3 or more WT are ideal, -4 being optimal. Even if you score one with -5, there won't be any throws if you don't have any fury - no idea if that's a bug or intended, to be honest.
