Guys,  I really need some good advice.  What is the main characteristics for a good MH weapon?  High dps?   1200plus with a socket or what?  Double crit?   IAS important on a MH?

A near perfect (godly) mainhand would have

high dps (1200 ish for a 1h, 1600 for a 2h)
frost damage (for the slow)
strength
attack speed
80%+ crit damage (180+ for 2h)
lifesteal
socket

Depending on the rest of your gear, having str, crit damage, and a socket would be decent if they are in your price range, but the item i mentioned above would be well over 2 billion easily. If you are a WW barb, IAS is nice to have, but I dont run any, and hardly notice any difference.

you cant have a 1200 dps 1H with frost dmg, with some other elemental dmg perhaps but with cold damage you cant because the + % damage affix on weapon doesnt apply to elemental dmg but rather only to min and max damage

Ah, iv'e never seen something as beautiful as my example, so I was just citing what would be near perfect. In that case, replace the cold damage with % chance to slow/freeze imo.

if you can get 1200 dps without attack speed that would be better too.  a mace would be the best because it has the slowest attack speed (compared to axe, both have the best weapon master bonus) which guarantees a high damage range, which is important for tornados.

Doh,  I had thought attack speed was good for tornado ticks,  have I been mistaken on this? So does a MH want IAS or no IAS?

He probably meant better for your wallet rather than better overall. Ideally you want both crit damage and IAS with a socket, but it is ridiculously expensive.

right now i am stuck with a 1090dps axe due to it being my only weap with leech, but if i do manage to get my hands on a good offhand with leech id like to replace my mainhand,
thing is, i am really unsure if i should just go socket and insane dps or socket and cc with lower dps.
any pointers?
