Hello everyone,

Let's begin with a small introduction:

Three weeks ago, we set a goal to collect 100M gold in diablo 3 and to create a lottery website for diablo 3. The development phase is now ended! So here is how it works:

There will be for 5 weeks 100.000.000 gold to win on Europe server, which is 20.000.000 per week.

- Your first participation is free!
- Pool is guaranteed to be of 20.000.000 gold, regardless of the number of participants
- Only 100.000 gold needed to participate
- The winning draw will happen on live stream

Feel free to post a small message here to say if you will participate or not (why not?).

I hope you've been seduced by the idea and we hope that you choose to participate. Good luck everyone and see you soon!

Register on: www.d3lottery.com (it takes less than a minute, no email needed)

Winners
09/11 : OLIIVE#2841 won 20M gold
16/11 : SCHNORZEL#1203 won 30M gold
23/11 : KOUDBOUL#1237 won 20M gold
30/11 : SEITH#2365 won 20M gold
07/12 : SCRATCH#2961 won 20M gold

Whether or not it's a scam, I suspect it might be illegal in quite a few places.  I'm no lawyer so obviously take this with whatever salt you require, but the issue is that the redistribution of things with monetary value based on random chance (or even skill, oftentimes) qualifies as gambling in a lot of places.  Since the RMAH quantifies exactly how much cash value gold has, I'd be really careful with something like this since it doesn't seem much different than running an actual real-money lottery.

You'd probably be better off taking donations and allowing anyone within the channel to win, regardless of contribution.  I've seen several streamers that do this.
...and if you disagree with me, you're probably <insert random ad hominem attack here>.

Yes you are absolutely right, we already have been discussing that with others people. But since the amount needed to participate is really really small (100k/ticket is actually 0.04€, which is a maximum of 0.4€ for a full participation) it shouldn't be considered as a real lottery.

But I'm not a lawyer either so I might be wrong (I hope not) and if there is one here, I would be of course glad to hear what he thinks about it.

I'm guessing, obviously, but I agree that it's unlikely someone would prosecute over that little money.  I'd still be worried about Blizzard banning accounts in order to avoid liability though since I remember people talking about how they had to do a lot of promising to various countries in order to get them to allow the RMAH.

It's a good idea, but you might want to limit this to a stream and only for participation in-game.

Also, it looks like you're EU-based. Might want to point that out.

Well you can only participate from the game actually. The website is just there to make things easier!

Anyway yeah, it's only for EU and it's clearly visible on the website. But I should add it somewhere in the topic you are right.

Thanks : )

Lottery in Blizzard Games will yield you a permanent Ban.

Remember this little Games in Ogrimmar....
paying 100g rolling a dice, above a certain amount you get double your gold back, below you lose it ?

They have banned people for that as well.

/edit/  Ah here you go, this is taken from the WoW terms of agreement...
I am pretty sure there is one for Diablo3 as well :

Quote

Are in-game casinos against the rules?

While players may opt to privately run or participate in an in-game casino, advertising for this particular practice is not permitted in-game or on our forums in any form. Casino advertisements can degrade the quality of the environment we want to provide for our players and thus are not appropriate for the World of Warcraft.

Please feel free to report any casino or gambling-based advertisements you see within public chat channels to the Game Master department. You may do so by submitting an in-game petition or by right-clicking on the name of the advertiser and selecting the "Report Spam" option.  When submitting an in-game petition, please be sure to include the advertising character's name and realm, as well as a brief description of the chat you witnessed.

Should you find a casino advertisement on our forums, you can bring it to our attention by clicking the red 'bio-hazard' symbol in the upper right corner of the post.

I have been banned for that in world of warcraft , its the same in diablo. If some1 in blizzard notices this post or some1 reports you ( there are a ton of ppl that will do it if they see you are earning gold just cos they are hating ) you will get a ban.

Diablo 3 is not Wow.

I didn't see anything about that in Diablo 3 ToU.

Just telling you... dont cry if you get permanently banned.
Perhaps ask the Support first, before you pull something like that.

I know, and I'm not gonna cry if they chose to do so. I hope they won't though.

And yeah, we already send a message 2 weeks ago to inform blizzard of our website, but no answer yet.

Blizzard allowed gambling in Wow, my friends did it all the time.  You could only get banned if you advertised it in any of the global chats ie (/say /yell /1 /2 /3 etc.)  but keeping it in /party /whisper and /guild was allowable.  That is what gms told me through tickets, and I think it was even posted on the blizzard forums at one point.

There is 30,000,000 gold to win this friday and only ~80 tickets have been bought so far. So if you buy 10 tickets, you have approx 1/10 chances to win the jackpot!

Come on guys : )
