Is that true?! let's say 3 milion on 3 realms out of 15 milion, wth are you doing Blizzard, don't you care about your money from auctions if you make the game like the gamers want?

I made a headcount a couple of days ago on public games , the number of players doing quests from normal trough out inferno was not exceeding 1000 , it wasn't even close to 900 . So , europe has about 5000 players playing?! Jesus Christ is it completely dead?

Afaik, public games don't support MP. And almost no one wants to play MP0 these days - the only reason to do so is for real quick and efficient act 3 farming runs, which you wouldn't make "public" then.

Unless they change something about the multiplayer (e.g., sort them by MP and create categories like "key run act 1/2/3", "ubers"), public games are virtually dead.

And some people like me never start/join public games. I'm just not interested in 'social' part of the game. And I don't believe I'm alone.

Also, two million people got the game "for free" (quotation marks because you had to pay a wow sub and all)
and its very easy for a game that's just shoved to you for free to be like "wow, this game... yeah i dont like it, good thing i didnt spend a buck on it"

and then there's the retarded kind that thinks they're entitled to a refund after playing 500 hours...

Your numbers are .....well let's just say you're wrong on many fronts.

I'm going to quote Billy Madison's Principal, as I feel his remarks address your post quite accurately;

"Mr. (EuQuad), what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

Their matchmaking is just not working..

They should really consider bringing back Diablo 2 game browsing. FCKING LOVED IT :<

On this note, I would like to know why "matchmaking" became such a popular thing in the first place. I have been playing PC games online since QuakeWorld (15 years ago), and the interface for basically any online game since then (atleast until a few years ago) was a server browser with a list of server names and other relevant information for each server (number of players, latency, etc). This was never complicated in any way. Then, at some point, video game companies decided that we were too dumb to pick a server that we wanted to join, so these matchmaking systems come out where you click a button and then the game picks which server you will join. I feel like this is a result of online console gaming services like Xbox Live and PSN. I remember when I first played Halo online and was completely confused that there was no server browser.

Point is, atleast give us the OPTION. I don't get why companies change vital aspects of games and then refuse to give you an option to do it the other way if you still want to. For example, in Team Fortress 2 you can click "find a game automatically" and just join one with one click, or you can select the server browser and choose a server.

Also, allowing monster power in public games seems to only have upside to me, so not sure why that isn't allowed. Basically, do something like this (basic layout):

Server Name Players    Act   MP Level

Act 2 Key runs!    2/4 2   5
Act 3 farming    4/4 3    2
Ubers (bring machine!!)   4/4 1    7

ok the formatting isnt working out so well but you get the idea.

How is this not a great (and tried and true) idea? And for the super casuals (are there even any of those left?) then leave the quick join button there or whatever so they can just join any random game.

Baal run 93849385
Baal run 93849386

Are you kidding? So much stuff to do. Even the Alkaizer/act 3 runs are not "all the same" because there are many different zones you can do or skip. And then when you're bored you switch to key runs on higher MP. Or you do something different. I love it - MP and NV are steps in the right direction, as they allow you to do different things and not just the same "new game, kill one boss, rinse&repeat".

The problem with matchmaking for key/organ runs that I could see is that people kill the warden before everyone has 5 stacks. And I don't see an easy fix out there... but I'm sure Blizzard is thinking about this already. Similarly, who is the poor guy who opens the first portal on an uber run, and who is the lucky guy that doesn't need to provide a portal?

Ive actually enjoyed the game more (socially) since public games died.

Before, the way to find people was to join a random game and cross your figres (somthing I barely ever did).

Now, with MP, general chat is MUCH more active - I've found several groups of people to do key runs, uber runs with just by chatting in general chat.

Much better now than it was, socially I think.

Can I just point out that pub games are virtually pointless until MP is compatible there?

Also, the number of games you see available are ones without full parties. Full party games will not show up on the "players on this quest" icon.

Still, the guy has a point, the game "sold" 15M copies and I'd be amazed if 1 million people still play Diablo 3 once a week, and I'd also bet half of the players playing on a daily basis do so because of the RMAH. I personally play when I have a podcast to listen to, otherwise this game is a borefest, even with its flawless gameplay. I've said it and I'll say it again, they need to tighten the affixes ilvl60+ can roll to the top tiers.

My opinion of Baal runs isn't good. I abhorred that was how leveling was done ala D2.

However you're right. Social has been crippled by poor design and seemingly bizarre development choices.

Currently, public games only serve ONE purpose. For random group MP0 farming, and that's about it. It's a complete mess. You've got 3 people that want to run 3 different routes, all going skitter-scatter and one poor guy who just wants to level his new char on the games mission and didn't realize that everyone else is just mega-speed farming.

It is an utterly broken system. Quite sad really.

Far more than 1 million people play this game regularly.

Show me any data to disprove my assertion?

I visit pub games with my alts time to time to drop off free items. I actually don't see people scatter that often, but there are people who are absolutely clueless and just wander around with the group.
