Yes whimsy is worth it for leveling monster 10 in normal - hell mode

For farming as a ranged class also since it has so many choke points.

Besides being somewhat fun and a change of pace. I never got a good drop there.

legendaries always had a chance to drop from chests, even after they were nerfed....

Sorry, chests still suck.

Yeah I think the pony level is worth it, I use it to boost myself or others, the XP is crazy at MP10 on Hell when they have only just hit 50 or Nightmare at 30 etc etc.

Meh....It's a different flavor for topping off an Act 1 run. Something different to do I guess. The way I look at it, I'll likely be playing this game for many years and "buying it" is a one time thing that will likely get countless uses out of. For core fans and purists alike, we want to touch every corner of Sanctuary. So having access to Whimsyshire is considered by me as crucial to having the whole experience of the game.

That being said, I'd like to add a little editorial concerning Whimsy....

I think it was entirely arrogant, misguided and wholly disconnected for the developers to replace our beloved cows with fucking teddy bears and unicorns. I get it, I get the attempt at humor here and I have an appreciation for such things. However I think it was extremely poor taste for them to not only shit-can the Cows, but then to seemingly thumb their noses at core-fans by calling it the Staff of Herding, Having the Cow King grant access to WS and the message as you load your game saying "There is no cow level".

Must've been the same misguided fucks that reviewed the Legendary items and gave them a thumbs up at launch.

Let me get this straight, you think that it's misguided to make it funny, when the original cow level was a joke with devs making cow noises and crappy art?

How can you call whimseyshire Bilzzard thumbing their nose at us? The cow level was a funny response to uran legends about wirt in D1. Whimsyshire is a funny response to purists being overly critical of D3 cause it isn't what they wanted while CONTINUING the theme from D2. To me it is just about perfect the way it is. I didn't want to see the same thing I saw in D2. I wanted something different, but that was still a funny, inside joke. Well, guess what? Yeah, they found it. That level is freaking hilarious. If your pissed that it isn't the short farming ground from D2, well then you just weren't paying attention. They have said over and over again that they DO NOT WANT short farming runs because they realize that's not fun.Expecting them to build the entire game around not letting that happen only to have a secret level where you CAN do that is just crazy.

Actually you are completely wrong here.  The reason it is not worth it is because it is incredibly short, and lacks mobs and elites.  You get to 4 stacks and the entire place is empty.  What is the point of that?  Blizzard really screwed up here.

Not sure if above poster is serious. You realise Whimsy is part of Act 1 and u can have 5 stacks before getting in right?

on topic tho : Its worth it if if you want a change of scenery. Best way to get legenderies or have chance at them is to kill high density of mobs while still killing lots of elites.Where can you do that ? Act 3.

Tho there is nothing wrong with doing it every once in a while if ure bored of Alkaizer run 24/7.

I guess you misunderstood me.

I think it was arrogant and misguided for them to remove Cows from the game....to replace them with whatever (it happens to be they choose unicorns and teddy bears).

Cows became somewhat of a cult-favorite with core D2 fans and we were all looking forward to seeing them again.

I think with the introduction of monster power, cow level farming may be viable again
A short, well packed instance with many chests and the occasional "resplendent" chest (piñata), it's a good thing to add onto anyone farming act 1 or as a place to farm on it's own
Imo, anyway
the North Pacific Salmon

And we'll ride... the rails, with our pistols drawn
Can the Lord... above, forgive what we've done?
Can we fight to save our souls?

And that doesn't make my point any less valid...  So you waste your time getting 5 stacks with mobs that have a low chance of dropping ilvl 63s just to go kill a measly 4 or 5 packs of elites with a regular act 3 drop rate before you have to reset.  Waste of time.

Uh, did you hear about that monster power system?

Some people did farm whimsy very efficiently even before 1.0.5 (actually before 1.0.4). It lost some appeal in 1.0.4 because it's not optimal for exp farming, but it's perfectly viable now.

Besides, this was never intended to be a new "cow level", in the sense that it is not supposed to be THE best farming spot in the game. But it's something that is worth visiting once in a while, and that you can very well include in an Act 1 farming rout if that's your thing.

Totally agree. Its actually really nice to play act 1 again and whimmsy is great every now and then when u feel like. In fact just a few days ago I got my first double legendary drop (both lvl63's) from the same elite.! Couldnt beleive it.
May the heroes rise from the pit of despair and the bards sing of the day of death renewed to everlasting
immortality....awaiting your return to the lands of Sanctuary may peace be with you on this day...your day of birth.

the mob density in that area is so low that its not even worth it.it also takes a lot of time to gather all the materials unnecessary to craft the wand.

Completely worth it for a reason of Ubers. Say you are at the end of you NV timer and you haven't gotten any of the ubers killed. Running out of locations to farm up to reset the timer. If you have Whimy then that is one more place that you can farm up another reset.

If they would flood the map with more trash mobs then it would be more inviting.

This a million times. If there was just TONS of mobs packed into Whimsyshire, I would actually bother to go there from time to time.
