Cyeron has put together a full analysis on the effects of Magic Find in conjunction with the Goblin creatures. In his analysis, he tests various percentages of magic find with hundreds of runs for each sample. He tests item quality, number of items, and ilvls, all in relation to MF.
You can check out his original thread with all of his data and results here. There is a great deal of information to be found in this thread which leads to his conclusion: MF increases only the quality of the gear dropped, not the amounts or the iLvl

Enchantress Completes Inferno Act 1
When Followers were first announced, Blizzard had stated that they were primarily to be used for Normal game mode only and would be next-to-useless in any further difficulty. After an outcry from the players, Blizzard decided to change this decision. Not only are Followers useful in Inferno, with the right gear, they can do most of the work for you.
