Purpose: Rush HC, 60 and Inferno as fast as viably possible (ie world firsts)
At Launch: 72-96 hour marathon session (ideally getting to 60 before sleeping)
Commitment: 1 straight week of HC play, 12 hours a day minimum (I'll personally be doing 5 weeks)
Voice Chat: Skype
Groups: 2 full (4 player) groups (so when people start dying off/falling behind there's still a full party to progress)
Request: 4 more people able to commit to the above
Contact: If interested contact me at DarkPhenomenon@shaw.ca

Thanks!

Rushing through hardcore? Why do I have a feeling that even I might get there before you. :)

Apologies for the OT!

I don't know why but I'm starting to get the feeling that people are actually going to die once Diablo is released O_O you know? Like that guy who played League of Legends for 4 days straight (I think it was in Thailand or Korea).

How are they going to play in the afterlife is the thing I wonder the most :P
Work in progress :)

Cause you have first hand experience with the higher difficulties right? Cause there won't be a worlds first HC run through and it is impossible for this guy to do that right?
Im sure the game will be difficult at the later stages, but don't be so blind to think it is unbeatable even early on.

What does that have to do with anything? nobody knows how hard it's going to be because no ones played it, what does that have to do with attempting to be the first person to 60, first person to Inferno and first person to clear Inferno?

Don't want to discourage anyone from going for it, but I have a feeling a hardcore level 60 might not happen for weeks. There will be so many unknowns in the game that can outright kill you, that there will be a HUGE learning curve for playing Hardcore.

If you're trying it though, I BOW to you. You sir, ARE HARDCORE! GL!

/agree with this... well, except perhaps the 'weeks' thing. Regardless of whether or not it is as hard as the developers like to claim it is, going straight at it with a HC character is going to be a tough goal. Rushing blindly in with absolutely zero experience in any of the significant difficulties, and especially doing so with a mindset to get to <insert goal> first, can only lead to a lot of deaths. More than likely some hardcore but more careful players will get there before any who try to rush it straight out of the gates. And if that's not the case, then Blizz is doing something wrong and will most definitely be eating their 'you will die' words. Heh.

Shrug. I guess we'll see how it goes. Shall be interesting. I would have loved to have a shot at this a few years ago, but now there's work and a girl and all that other stuff to think about, :), so going to take it slow (but still play whenever I get a moment free!).

G'luck.

Half naked toons, sleep deprived, clueless about what to expect from mobs/bosses or more generally the game, rushing through inferno, hardcore mode. I don't see how this could possibly fail !

Err...

Yeah. I'm just gonna quietly go through hardcore super carefully.

I always thought avoiding dying was more valued in hardcore than quickly doing something. Of course, if you can avoid dying quickly, that's even better, but I don't know.

While I consider myself a hardcore player I personally think this approach is ignorant.  What would be far more effective is to garner a solid group of players to play, trade, strategize together without the "rush" element.  There is absolutely no reason to rush to 60, especially considering levels mean far less in Diablo 3 than in other games.  Calm down, take it slow, and focus on not dying while filtering out the retards who will get you killed that are sure to be bountiful.  I guarantee you this will grant you more success in the long run.
To Jay Wilson and everyone else: Diablo 3 can be competitive without being an E-Sport.

I don't think many of you know what viable means nor do you have any idea how I plan on getting to 60 and past Inferno aside from spending obscene amounts of time.

I'm a HC D2 vanilla veteran, I know how Hardcore works but thank you all for your concern.

The term "rush" implies that you actually rush in the game itself (i.e., skip levels). One can rush with a lot of free time or little free time. I think that's what most of the people here are referring to: that you will progress through the game in a manner that is not cautious. And they believe it will gimp you in the long run, as do I.

"I will invest obscene amounts of time" is quite irrelevant to the rushing aspect. You can do so while playing very cautiously. And, obviously, with more time, you can die and re-run more often. Could this potentially mean you can get higher on the ladder with a more bullheaded attitude? Maybe. All I know is I won't respect it and not consider it a proper playing of HC. I like HC specifically because it discourages rushing like an idiot.

Or, you won't really be rushing. I.e., you'll be playing like everyone else except you have more time to play, which isn't really that interesting.

So which one is it?

As I said in my original post I'll be rushing Inferno as fast as viably possible. That means going as fast as I can go without getting myself killed. If I run headlong into the unknown I'm not going to be getting very far, I'm not going to be stupid about it but I'm not going to take it slowly either.

I don't anticipate being able to do inferno, or possibly even Hell without gearing up before hand, but as soon as I'm confident I'll be able to progress I will. If you have a different understanding of what rush means or than replace rush with a different term if that helps you.

72-96 hour marathon?  I would likely pass out around 36 without the use of.... uhm.... well, nevermind.  In any case, good luck to you and your group! :)

I'm taking a week off for release so I'll likely get 80-90+ hours in on the first week, so I'll be in a similar "push! push! push! go! go! go!" mode.  But not all at once like that lol that's just insane!
