hey y'all,

i was wondering if there will be a D3 authenticator. i'm not really interested in the SC2 one, which seems to be the only one available here.

There was one given away at blizzcon. I'm sure they will release a retail version one soon though.

I might have to look into getting one.  I have my Android phone setup to be my authenticator, but it's not Diablo themed, darn it.

Haha never thought of this. Still have the wow one back from when I played wow (note I bought it cause it was pretty fucking cheap at some point) and honnestly I would have liked if their authentiactors were more blizzard/neutral themed actually mostly cause wow have turned so bad I no longer care about anything they do with that franchise.
Did they stop having "sales" on their authenticators after the mobile version or was that just a one time thing for wow to try and make money (not on the authenticator but in less hacked accounts)

Yup, I remember a blue post stating there will be a D3 themed authenticator released to match the game too. shame we can't see it or order it now though. I'm currently using my old phone still, which has rubbish battery life. Refuse to order an authenticator until it can have awesome D3 art on it.

I'm just wondering whether it'll have Diablo head shot screaming art on or Tyreal. Maybe a montage of them with Cain/Leah as well. It better be awesome or I'm gonna be pissed for waiting!

dont give ur money for shit like this .. use ur phone like me actually i bought 1 authenticator... but i gifted it away to a friend which phone didnt support the mobile version .. its way more smooth ;P

i have a question about authenticators in general, how long are they supposed to last? Ive had mine about a year 1/2 and made the horrible mistake of buying a blackberry. So i need it to last atleast until the end of the year so i can renew my contract with an iphone or android.

Google is your friend but since u actually got me "thinking" about it I did find a blue post:
The estimated lifespan I've heard on those is 5 - 7 years on average

So unleas you use it a lot and it's being exposed to rough climate or other abusive use I think your good

Personally I find it much more practical to use the authenticator..

1. Press button
2. Type 6 numbers

As opposed to:

1. Turn on my phone's screen
2. Unlock the screen
3. Find the app
4. Press a button on the app
5. Type 8 numbers

And it's not like the authenticator is expensive or anything..

I think the RIM one was Java based and Blizzard stopped supporting it.

Blizzstore EU (I'm from Italy), ordered it on March 1th, arrived about a week ago.

I checked for curiosity sake and right now only the SC one seems to be available....weird.

I know some shop online here in Italy offer the game + the authenticator.
Maybe Blizz signed a deal for that kind of offer and removed the item from their own online store?
