Beyond The Gate - Patch 14
Users have been posting all over about the post on the battle.net forums. It seems people have found a way though the locked gate, and are now able to see more of the game that is usally not included in the beta. There are reports however that this has already been hotfixed VIA a teleport, though this has not been confirmed. (Keep in mind, though finding bugs is okay, trying to exploit a known issue is not according to Blizzard) If you like seeing new areas of act one, check out this thread.

I don't think inherently waiting to use a skill is fun, but it certainly reinforces skill-based play as it's a restriction you have to plan around and use in tactical ways. Obviously resources are the other big limiter, but we like our resource systems to be able to be gamed a little, and if they can be gamed you're essentially opening the spam gates. That's fine for some abilities, but not for others. So the question really comes down to should we ensure every skill can be used back to back, or do we throw another limitation on their use so they can stay awesome?
Diablo II was a great game, but I don't think anyone can argue the combat model was really deep or engaging. People played because they wanted awesome characters, not because it felt really cool to spam blessed hammer millions of times and kite monsters around. For Diablo III we think we can have awesome characters and deep and engaging combat, and we're not going to get there by just copying the previous game. (Blue Tracker/Official Forums)

Why would someone not be trying to build up their MF?
Also is there an expectation that you're going to be able to just stack MF/GF at the cost of offensive/defensive stats and be able to survive?
There's a lot of reasons why someone wouldn't be trying to build up their MF - just like there are a lot of reasons why they would be. No point trying to write you a large list of reasons, I'm sure everyone here can think of plenty.
No I actually can't think of any reason why someone would not want better item drops (ie MF). Since that's the point of the game, in what scenario are there people attempting to completely avoid getting more/better item drops?
Also, the MF solution as stands, encourages people to sacrifice magic find for killing speed so they can leach off of people who have invested in magic find.
So I'm building a set completely devoid of MF in the hopes that someone jumps in that's completely sacrificed their survivability to have enough MF to average out so that I both get a worthwhile amount of MF, but am also able to carry them? And I hope that it's a situation that occurs every game AND I'm clearly not interested in ever playing solo, but instead just jumping in multiplayer games praying some MF stacker arrives to make sure I can get better items.
It's a nonsense situation built out of the ether of WHAT IF! and not how people actually play games.
What about an organized team that games the system? Specialization usually trumps "jack of all trades" every time in games like this.
Having an organized group will always be more successful than random players. That really has nothing to do with any specific mechanics, though. (Blue Tracker/Official Forums)

You'll need to hit 10 with a new character to unlock hardcore. it's kind of a weird side effect of not wiping characters, but it's that 'ding' to 10 with a character that unlocks it. Was it a new character, or a Barbarian that was already level 9? As of right now, you need to level brand new characters to 10.Obviously this won't be a problem at launch because no one will have characters. (Blue Tracker/Official Forums)

Level 13 Demon Hunter leveled up before the newest patch: Strafe tooltip and skills page show 'Unlocked at Level 19'. Strafe is still in my #2 skillslot, and I can use it in battle.
Enjoy your bonus! Since we did not wipe characters, any skill that was on your action bar before you patched can be used even if you haven't unlocked it. It won't be usable as soon as you un-equip it. (Blue Tracker/Official Forums)

Yes, there is a Diablo III -themed authenticator in the works. As with previous Blizzard titles, it is being prepared to go along with the release of the game, and we'll make sure to show off the artwork as soon as it's ready.
