before i think it was like 5 pages per level to train the BS? now it costs no pages from like 1-5 and then after that it increases more n more n MORE till it takes ONE HUNDRED EFFING PAGES TO GET HIM TO MAX LEVEL.

i wonder how often pages will drop, if they dont then the pages just became a great item to sell on the AH and it wont be as easy as ppl think to max him out now. i like it better this way because i was worried it was going to be super ez mode with him being so dang easy to level

It's really a little silly. Making them drop less often (ie very rarely) then keeping the stack size lower to level removes that feeling of grinding, but adds that feeling of exaltation, when you finally get one to drop.

Not a huge fan of needing x-billion things to get a prize.

Given your Blacksmith is shared for all your characters (IIRC) it won't be too bad. They will be stackable in your inventory, but I'm hoping you can drop them off every now and then, so instead of 100, if you return to town and go to your Blacksmith you can drop 15 off and only need 85 more.

Could be a great money spinner on the auction house early on though :)

I am quite excited for this. Why?

I rather enjoyed the item hunting of d2, while goofing around with my friends. I look forward to item hunting these pages, should be work to get the good items since the BS can craft legendaries and sets.

I would much rather it be extremely hard to max out the blacksmith. I don't want it to be something like I can easily max out my blacksmith by level 45. I hope it takes more like at least two characters to level 60 plus some inferno to max out the blacksmith. maybe that is a little much but you get the idea.

i doubt itll take 2 characters to 60 but you definitely wont be able to max it before 60 unless u farm nightmare lol. which im fine with maxing it shortly around/after 60 VS having it maxed by 45 like u said.

This will be a fun challenge. Do you need the 5k gold plus the 100 pages or is it one or the other?

The shared blacksmith is a fantastic idea and its going to be fun to see the wiki pages show what drops what more frequently (unless there is some sort of plug in i guess it will be user feedback)

This will be a fun and purposeful grind.

I actually am, because it at least tells me I'm closer to my goal more often. The only issue I have is inventory space (but I don't know how high they stack).

Can't really compare the two though, Jewelcrafting has no intermediate gaps, you just go up a level at a time. Also the Jewelcrafter has less reason to be leveled unless you have completely filled your gear with gems from the previous tier so it is more of a luxury.

If beta is any indication, the BS is going to be a HUGE source of gear while leveling.  It is kinda disheartening to hear he is so hard to level up.

I counted, 1090 PAGES & 59000 GOLD total to lvl up to max.
Holy snikes!

People were complaining we would have too much gold and that blacksmithing doesn't cost enough gold to max out.

I told them the pages and mats would be the real cost, not the gold... and look where we are.  :(

Aren't crafted items going to be the best items in the game?

Kind of makes sence if that is the case.

Crafted items are no different from dropped items, really.  A rare with 6 affixes is the same no matter where it came from, and a perfect rare is the best item you could get... but good luck with that.  For the most part, good solid legendaries will be the best items most people use, and the rich will be able to purchase the ridiculously perfectly rolled rares.

Well it's designed to be a long term process, just like other systems in the game. I'm not surprised to be honest, even though 100 is a lot, yeah. :P

But other systems will require a lot of time as well before you can max them. The game is designed around that.
