I actually don't think anything relating to the original being can be destroyed at all at this point in time (or there is no known way to destroy it/them), seeing as how at their core they are all aspects or concepts of the original being and interconnected with each other- as if some good/bad can't exist without each other kind of relationship.  Could very easily be wrong though.

The strong must rule if we are to survive.

in the Book of Cain its said that Tyrael was thrown out of this existence too after the explosion of the Worldstone and there was already a glimpse of him in the diablo 3 trailers. So i think its possible for diablo to to be back from the this othe existence they were thrown to^^.
Besides there cant really be a "Diablo" without the bad El'Diablos!

Who said he's dead? Defeating is one thing, but killing? Wholeee different ball game and yea its true, DIABLO cant be a game without have DIABLO in it. IMO he's probly the second to last or last boss.

I like it to focus on the remaining lesser evils that we haven't seen yet.  Some of them sound pretty interesting according to Book of Cain.  Azmodan will obviously be a major player.   Level design could be really cool if dungeons match the M.O.'s (major objectives) of the evils as stated in book of cain.  IE.  azmodan : azmodan's den at first does not appear fearsome or disgusting..............but as you go downwaard one rapidly descends into madness.

Since lesser evils don't have destroyed soul stones, their resurrections seem to make more sense to me.....wouuld love to fight duriel again..............he was rediculously hard on normal if you didn't know what you were doing.

fighting diablo, kinda feels like a been there done that kinda thing.

I think Diablo will come back, and this time he will be stronger than ever.
1. Diablo looks very different compare to its looks from D1 and D2.
- they look very similar in D1 and D2. But not D3. we can tell it's Diablo, but he looks way different. This can mean something has changed for Diablo himself.
2.Diablo used to be the one who came up with most schemes...
-As Mephisto said in Act 4 in D2, he is "wise diablo." he was the one who came up with most evil schemes throughout the D1 and D2, and no doubt he will in D3 too.
3.Even though the game name is Diablo, it could be boring to go against him again...
-So why not make it even epic to make it not boring, but with more thrill and excitement?(such as this time even stronger than ever!)

And I believe this time Diablo will rise with the Black Soulstone's power in his position!..with his evil plan.

Well but this game series is ''Diablo'' . What could happen if the Lord of Terror itself would not be in game? It wouldn't be Diablo then. But still i think destroying him is much, much harder than ''destroy the soulstone, Diablo is gone''. He's not like his brothers, he is much stronger, even in other body or especially in his physical body. He cannot be killed by any mortal.

Well, I suppose the game title says it all. And even if he doesn't come in the game right now, he'll probably come in an expansion. I for one would pre-order that right now =)

Think of Diablo not as dead but on another plain of existance. Since they could not destroy Diablo directly in D2, but destroyed his soul stone that was his hold to world.

Did something change here? It was my understanding that the soulstones were prisons, which is why Mephisto was not at full strength when we fought him (his vessel, the Que Hegan, had only the largest chunk of Mephisto's shattered stone, with the others going to the other council members)--he didn't have his entire soul. Shattering them was supposed to kill their very souls and not send them back to the Void, and I don't think anything was offered yet that contradicts that, unless someone can quote something directly and not just make a vague accusation. It has, admittedly, been a long time since I've played the game and I finished the books some time ago, so this is not exactly fresh on my mind.

All this leads to one of the more popular ideas behind Diablo's re-emergence in Diablo III, which is that since Leah was conceived by a human possessed by Diablo, an "accidental" (perhaps or perhaps not, since Adria was involved) human "soulstone" was created. So, Diablo was, theoretically, destroyed, but his essence lived through the shattering of the soulstones in baby Leah.

Quote

Remember the fact of the matter is you can't kill a demon unless it's ACTUAL physical body is there(or so I assume).

I don't believe this is the case. The Horadrim killed the physical bodies of the Prime Evils during the Black Exile and then used the soulstones to imprison their souls. If what you're saying is true, then there would be no need for the soulstones.

The Prime Evils, as far as I know, can not "die" so to speak. The way I understand it, is that you destroy their physical bodies, and they get sent to another plain of existence. Which explains how Diablo can keep coming back, he just gets another body.
What is this thing called "real life?" Is that some sort of expansion pack?

IMO: The difference being that the essence ("soul"?) that would originally transfer, which was, I believe, to the Void or the Abyss (I always mix them up), was contained entirely within the soulstones. So, you destroy the stone, you destroy what's inside. That was the concept behind using the Hellforge. Smash, Mephisto's dead. Smash, Diablo's dead. Smash, Baal's dead. The civil war in hell can continue!

I don't know what the Book of Cain says about the soulstones, but as far as I know we still don't know for sure how they work.

I certainly hope he will be back.. Diablo as a game wouldn't be the same without him :P

After all the game name is, Diablo and not "evil evil"
