Very well could be. My main point is that the time to get actually angry at Blizzard for a "delay" or "missing the goal" is if they officially and publicly announce we're going to release the game on 'X day Y month' and then they whiff. There's no reason to expect the game to come out any sooner than when they give you a real, exact, press release, officially announced date. Projections are just that, hopes and goals.

actually Q4 2011 was their goal as they have mentioned. so, technically it has been delayed but not because they never said that was the actual release date. But Blizzard did say they were shooting for late 2011 originally.

Edit: sorry, didn't read your post right. I agree that they "aimed" and it was their "goal" but they didn't give a release date for 2011. But since they consistently said they "aim for late 2011" and "2011 is looking good", they apologized for it and pushed it back.

The game release in Q2 sounds right, since (it was discussed) Blizzard usually gives a two-month-ish gap between when they announce the release date and actual release date. If they give us a release date by the end of this month, we're looking at an April release, unless they really internalize their fans' rage and release with less than a two-month gap.

At any rate, it's good to know they've narrowed it down some more, but nothing is more appropriate than an actual release date after this. They should have known better to announce Diablo 3 to its fans so early. Diablo fans are intense.

Please, do yourself a favor and read again what he said. I can't be bothered to look for the links now but it was smth like

2 - "our target is Q1 2012"  =  ppl got crazy howling about the release in March or even Feb which made him come back and say
3 - and this is quote word by word : "Sorry I wasn't intending to imply anything by writing first quarter, just an honest mistake. Our official target is still "early 2012". Not sure if it makes too much difference one way or the other, but I don't want people to nitpick a mistake. "
And just as a bonus : "Just a mistake on my part. Q1 is definitely more literal, so I suppose I should correct it."

Now ... check the actual facts before you randomly rage at ppl... you and everyone who is saying that they never said Q1

Don't get me wrong... I am not pushing this in their face now that they said Q2 ... talking about Blizz is rly nothing special when they keep delaying a game... rly! I just felt that some1 should remind these ppl about what Blizz rly said.

And the last thing... I understand that some ppl are special fans of a certain franchise / company but please: do yourself a favor and don't imagine that if you gone try to induce yourself into something, that something is the reality...
I too am a fan of Diablo and WoW but I do understand that trolls like Bashiok have nothing to do with the actual games and all the history behind them...

Blizz targets and reality don't mesh. I'm not mad, it's just fact that more often then not they're missing their targets. Ok, so they never stated Q1, but "early" sort of implies that. Not to mention they missed the late 2011 target. I like Blizzard, but their PR department needs to be reiterated as well...

Early is january and february. Noone in any business says early 2012 impling an april/may/june date. They delayed it, period.

But i don't care. As long as the game is good enough for the wait.

Well this is never going to end.  November.  January 17th.  February 1st.  February 9th.  There is really NO point to hope for this.  Seriously.  How long does it take for you to get strung along and amped up to be disappointed.  This s will never end.  Blizz is freaking stupid.  

Did anyone look at their numbers?!?  Look at the Development Cost section...it speaks for itself.  Pretty freaking lame.  The Diablo team is constantly explaining that there is not that many people actually developing the game.  CLEARLY.  After looking at the Development cost, check out the COGS and Cost of subscription base.  Look at the % to the Operating income.  Its a joke.  That margin on subscriptions makes me want to freaking stab blizzard in the face for all the money i put into WOW.

Soon my ass.  Doorstep my ass.  Q2 is just not early 2012, by any means.  Blizz will keep the plate of "info" or rather bullshit coming as long as they have people to read and hype up the game.  How much hype did they put out originally then cut?

No more hype from me.  I will just sit the next few stupid fanbuilt hypes out.  Sorry.

But seriously. I do get April and May, if you stretch it, falls in 'early 2012' but June... hmmm

I just hope that the 'targeting' for Q2 doesn't mean 'it can yet be pushed back'. Otherwise, it might be possible for me to be playing RE6 sooner than D3

They never said Q1.  It has been early 2012 since Sept and it hasn't changed.  He was simply mistaken, as he so clearly put it.
