I don't know if this was said anywhere, and I'm not sure if it's new with this beta patch.  I can't find any information on it anywhere, so I'm wondering if anyone else has seen it or knows what I'm talking about.

I keep coming across rare spawns in the beta, and under their health bar where it says what they are enchanted with (ex Mortar, Arcane, etc) it says, "Must Be Shoveling Off."  I THINK this is what it says anyway, they go away so quick it's hard to see it for very long, and that doesn't even make sense to me.  I can never get a screenshot in time because they seem to disappear, and if I do get the chance to hit them they don't drop anything other than gold and maybe a white item.

I thought I was imagining things at first, and maybe I didn't even read their description properly since they're never on my screen long.  I'll keep trying to get a screenshot if I see it again, they just sort of randomly appear.

Anyone have any ideas?

I swear I'm not a crazy person.

Edit: Now that I think of it, I think it's always been one of those gravedigger ghosts, so maybe the shovel part makes sense.

I actually spotted a rare monster (purple name) that was a gravedigger ghost. His name was something like "Digger Olden" (made up, but in that direction :P). He was in one of the crypts. Never seen him before so I reckon it's a new one that's a rare spawn, similar to the one summoner guy in Cathedral level 4.

Maybe it's related :P?

Weird!  The one I keep seeing has a yellow name.  Every time I see him I try to hit him, and after that he just disappears.  Next time I see him I'll try to not hit him, and see what he does.  Doesn't make any sense to me!

And he's also always been in the crypts as well.

Hmm, kk. I think it was a purple name at least.. Can't really remember clearly, he kinda died fast. Didn't drop anything significant though.

I'm not sure if I keep killing the mob fast or he just disappears.  I always assume he disappears because he won't drop any loot, but the one time I know he died for sure, he dropped gold and white items.  So maybe he doesn't disappear, and most the time I kill him he drops nothing at all.

I'm going to be hunting for him now though...  :dh:

Thanks, I won a key (my entry is over in the fan art forum here).
Then I'm glad as well. Everyone should be introduced to the awesomeness that is Machinarium :D

OnTopic: Hm.. I might have caught the mob when I was recording last night. Not sure, gonna look it through.

Yup, I encountered a couple of those, but most of them died so fast I couldn't even take a shot of them at first :)

That's not the mob I'm talking about, but I have seen a few of those.  The one I keep seeing is only in the Crypts, and always one of those ghostly guys.  Under their health bar where it says "Undead Mauler" in your screenshot, it would say "Must Be Shovelling Off."  Again, wtf?  They have yellow names, not purple, and they disappear almost as soon as I mouse over them!

I've been running the Crypts over and over trying to find another, and mousing over anything I see before attacking so I can see the name and not accidentally kill it first.

Well, I saw that gut too a few mins ago, but he is not the only rarespawn. Basically if the mod text is something odd = rare.

I found the bastard!

Verity, you were close about the name!

I was mistaken, his name was in purple, he just glows yellow, and with how fast he disappeared all the time I never got a good look.  But I got a screenshot this time!

He had a whopping 34~ HP, and when he died he dropped nothing.  What a cheap bastard.

Seeing his name, and knowing he's one of the grave diggers, the description makes more sense to me.  It was just a very "WTF" moment when all I saw was the "Must be shovelling off" and then he'd die so fast I didn't get to see his name or anything else.

Yes, I've seen Digger O'dell several times, along with about 3-4 other special guys like him with no loot at all. When they die they just seem to disappear. There was a big skelly guy, who I got down to 50% and then he disappeared. I don't really know what is going on, and I don't know why they are there, but they sure are interesting, and hard to get a screenshot of.

I'm gonna go hunting some more of these guys, just remember that screenshots are broken in the beta right now. To capture one, put the game in windowed mode and paste the print in photoshop or the likes.

They aren't broken for me.  Pre-patch they went into my Diablo III folder, but now they are going to My Documents>Diablo III>Screenshots.

In that case, here's another new guy I found yesterday I think, that I managed to get a screenshot of.
