Does anyone else notice the absolutely game breaking relationship between The Guardian's Path and Beacon of Ytar passive skills? Just saying... Everything is just so synchronous about this char.
I am going to play the monk first class, and this is why: while looking over this compilation of skills and passives that are currently Thread here known I noticed the synergy between all of the Monk's passives in comparison to the other chars. They just pale. Everything the Monk does is in some way tied to another part, which if built properly, can make for a VERY OP build by comparison.
I dont think that Beacon of Ytar will break anything. The Spirit Cost for Seven Sided Strike and Wave of Light is 50 without and 75 with the passive. So you can only use them 2 times because the standard max Spirit is 200... maybe with very high spirit regen/ max spirit from endgame items you can "spam" it but I doubt that.
Runes will modify as well as gear affixes... these will cause spamming of skill. Properly combining the right gear with the right runes here will make the monk quite spammable indeed.
75 spirit is VERY spammable once we get higher lvl and get more Spirit/s or per hit item effects. Yes monks will be nearly invincible in pve since you're invulnerable for the duration of Seven Sided Strike.
Ok I get what your saying now. I see what you're trying to say but this is the basic synopsis of this class. The monk abilities are tied in as 'combos' and is to fill the 'rogue' archetype. But what about the Wizard skill 'Archon' mixed with 'Prodigy' or 'Arcane Dynamo'. To me that mix of power seems a little much as well.
Bottom line; I think you underestimate the power of the other classes.

It will also be game breaking in PVP as well, once we know what kind of cooldowns will be implemented for each skill. No other char has that capability really. They just have "increase rate of x" and "decrease rate of X" type passives.

I love speculation, but this sentence is stated as a fact. Either you have been working at Blizzard for a while and playing the game, or you made this up.
We can guess, but we have simply not seen what mechanisms Blizzard will use to balance the classes. I do not forsee +Spirit on kill, etc. affixes growing out of control.

Have you seen beta testers at a mere lvl 8-10 playing? I saw this guy fighting Leoric and he was literally spamming his Breath of Heaven. It costs 75 Spirit, the same as the no-cd Seven Sided Strike. This is only low level. Spirit generation scales MASSIVELY with atk speed and Spirit/s stats. And we already know that there are many ways to increase your spirit gen with runes.
Math wise, an average DWing monk will hit twice per second. This guy I'm watching right now has 1.88 attacks per second on his char sheet. That's 6x2 per second so 12 spirit per second. This is all BASE atk speed and spirit regen btw. It takes only 6.25 seconds to build back the 75 spirit you just spent on Seven Sided Strike. It should not be hard at all to lower that number down to as low as 3s. So you sit in Seven Sided Strike all invulnerable then you pop out and hit something for 3 seconds. Back to god mode you go. How is that not spammable?
Remember though, we're not discussing how this maximizes the dmg you do. The whole point of spamming Seven Sided Strike is the fact (as far as we've seen) that you're invincible for the duration. Now slap on a rune that increases the amount of attacks in there, and you have an OP char.
If you Rune/Gear everything to generate more Spirit just to be able to spam Seven Sided Strike you have to sacrafice other Stats. Also we dont know if you are invincible during Seven Sided Strike (it looks like that right now...). Right now with the lowlvl Chars every Strike from a Combo generates 6(!!) Spirit. We dont know how high it scales with lvl and how high you can push it through gear without sacraficing to much dmgstats. Also the few Strikes you have to do to generate Spirit would leve you vulnerable if you dont have defensivstats.
So I wouldnt jump the gun and wait how it pans out.
I am really not speaking to the possibility that the monk may in fact be unkillable. I am simply saying that his passives work in a way far superior than that of the other classes. More connective tissue if you will. The other classes seem to have powerful but interdependently operational skills that simply enhance what they are all already doing. The monks passive, however, seem to be engaging the idea of specific builds with specific gear more so than any other class. When this happens this generally means some kind of very powerful cycling of resource and damage can occur.
Oh and btw guys, let's not forget about Lashing Kick with no CD and only costing 37.5 spirit AND you can put a rune on it to make it STUN every time you use it. Balanced.
Ironically though, I planned on playing monk as my first char but after seeing how useless 2h staffs are, I'm probably switching to Barb after all.
Isn't that what beta testing is for? I certainly wouldn't want to wait well into release then tell Blizzard "oh I think my class might be overpowered."
I think Lashing Tail Kick only gets a Chance to Stun... thats not 100%^^ But you can spam it so yeah... maybe.
Alabaster Rune - Scorpion Sting
Instead of knocking enemies back, affected enemies are stunned for X seconds.
Does that hit multiple enemies or just one? If it hits one, then big deal. I'm sure most bosses are going to be immune stun which then makes it a minor CC for trash if it only hits one target.

Playing Diablo since 97. I know nothing and having nothing good to say, I be a troll.
Guess we'll have to wait till release, if its a large area then OP for sure; although it could be like D2 and in higher difficulty modes stuns/chills are reduced and thus will balance it self out by inferno. A 1 second stun may not be worth the effort. So many possibilities!

Everyone DOES realize that 7-Sided Strike will have a CD right?
...Right?
No, no it's cool... Don't worry about it. I'm sure someone will realize eventually...
Beacon of Ytar
lvl 30 The cooldown on your Lashing Tail Kick, Seven-Sided Strike and Wave of Light abilities is removed, but their Spirit cost is increased by 50%.
Please read carefully.

Are you implying that the Monk is OP?
