The monster is made of hardened obsidian, forged through the centuries in the burning depths of Hell.
Lore
Through the centuries, the Heavens have combated Hell's forces with mankind caught in the fumes of its sacred war. With the sprawl of industrialization across Sanctuary, so came an ominous decline. Destroying Sanctuary by obtaining its resources and altering its life forms, Hell had already wrecked humanity and Heaven alike. Mankind survived on the fringe of destruction through its shadowed years, their civilization having peaked only years following its humble beginnings. What lay ahead promised bleakness, primitive survival, and safeguarded knowledge housed within the wreckage of Hell's wake. It seemed humanity was placed back on its foundations; simple luxuries such as magic or even a soupy bath would be kept sacred in the years ahead.
I write this at a time of most dire need, though that need may not be satisfied. Hell has had its underlings in production long before mankind graced (or plundered) Sanctuary. I speak of what I saw, in the horror of the twilight, deep within the treacherous depths of Hell. I know not of how I arrived here, but what I have seen will surely pierce horror into the minds of our people. If I am to somehow ascend through Hell and arrive to Sanctuary with this knowledge, preparatory offenses and defenses will have to be composed. Men and Heaven do not know of what Hell is brewing, and I write this trembling in fear of being caught in the sight of such maleficent creatures. They afoul the very Hellish air of this earthen kingdom, and destroy any sanctity that might be discovered here. I have seen how they are bred; from the volcanic activity in the lakes of flame, they are raised forth by some sort of gremlin's spells and all of the hardened obsidian seals together to form a beast of massive proportions. Their shrill and stony screams echo throughout the caverns here and I know that avoiding them in my trek out of the igneous walls here will be impossible.
The ground itself quakes with their coming, and the lumbering of their mass is unmistakable; I have never witnessed anything akin. Their talons are as obsidian blades; sharp enough to pierce even the thickest of armor. Brute strength can not destroy these beasts; some other method must be employed. My quill is drying of ink, and I only have a limited amount of time left to write...the better question seems to be how my quill and parchment traveled with me? I only hope that I can escape and see the light of Sanctuary once more...even if it isn't the Sanctuary that the Heavens intended so many foggy years ago.

The obsidian beast has extremely high defenses, a gargantuan health pool, and overzealous strength. There are several ways to penetrate this mighty foe's formidable force. What it makes up for in high defenses and physical strength, it lacks in speed due to its lumbering mass. The beast is weak against agile foes which abuse range to their advantage. This is why the beast has a head ramming charge, in which the hardened igneous rock on its forehead pierces strong armor and throws back any that would stand in its way. The charge is very fast, so any brave soul willing to fight this creature must dodge its attack or surely they will perish.
The beast must also have a very strong cleaving attacking; using its obsidian scalpel claws, the flesh of any man will be ripped instantaneously from an overbearing swipe. If that doesn't get the job done, the beast can stomp on the ground, causing all foes outside of range to be stunned for a couple of seconds. It is not advised to lure the beast out and have allies hit it from behind, for its armored tail is consistently swinging back and forth like a hardened whip.
The beasts will trample around in tiny packs, maybe consisting of two or three for balance purposes. These sinful beasts are meant to be some of the strongest opponents discovered in Hell, so there surely couldn't be too many or the heroes journey would be nigh impossible.

Deadlyhazard, Wacom offers a range of graphic tablets called Wacom Bamboo. I think they are quite affordable, I definitely recommend getting one if you are interested! However they have quite an outdated technology, if that bothers you at all.
I've only been doing this for about 2 years now, I wish I had started earlier but unfortunately I didn't have the privilege... I push myself to practice twice as hard to make up for it. It's never too late to chase your dreams.

Yeah good luck!
I want an Aiptek SlimTablet 600U but have no money, I have wanted graphic tablet since the 90s. LoL. I gave up drawing long time ago.
I really want a Wacom Cintiq, but I've never even had $2000 before.
I've been sketching on pencil and paper since I was a kid. This contest has made it apparent that I need to learn how to make finished-looking drawings before I can do anything with them.
Don't let the technology blind you. The tablet is cool and all but don't let the wow factor give you any misconceptions. Anybody who is truly good with a tablet has spent most of their life on paper and probably still do. Yes you can do a lot with a tablet but there are also things you can't do with it. The base for any good artist is with pencil and paper.

PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
Hellforge Zombie has been found deep into the void of Hell, not really a zombie but possessed by a dark cloud that takes control of the corpse and over time it can change its form into something more demonic.

I figured a tablet would be very nice just because it would allow the coloring of a sketch. Otherwise I'd have to get paint or fine colored pencils.

May my song still bellow as your winds, Goddess, as I sing of our heroine's journey across the Plains of Despair:
How her arrows in their multitudes struck down the advancing Balrogs; How her valkyrie buried her spear in the vile Stygian Hags!
...
Pray, Goddess - send us your thunder now, that our daughters might not hear of the Envy Demons:
Those tortured souls, wretched among the wretched, their piercing screams and flame-eye lanterns haunting our heroine to her end-days!

Envy Demons, truly wretched among the wretched on the lower plains of Hell, are formed from the souls of men who were consumed by their jealous lust for wealth or status while alive. Their tormentors on the lower plains have punished them by removing the Demon's eyes and encasing them [the eyes] in a fiery lantern, that a searing pain might accompany their covetous gazes for all eternity. The Envy Demons wander the plains carrying their burning lantern-eyes, endlessly searching for the objects they desire. More than anything, though, they covet life - which they hope to steal from the living!
They move with unnatural speed as they hurl themselves at their target, their piercing cries drawing the lantern-gazes of the other nearby demons - and they too soon join the fray.
But the worst is yet to come! For the screams of an Envy Demon summon their tormentor, sent to destroy the recently discovered object that the Demons so desire. Despair, Envy Demons! Your jealousy shall never be sated!
[I don't want to do a monster BOGOF, so I'll leave the many other creative folks on this board to determine what the summoned monster might be!]
Mechanics:
Coming, as I would imagine, at the end of the game, the Envy Demons are meant to introduce an element of almost Zelda-like strategy into the D3 experience. Since their eye lanterns will only allow them to see over a relatively narrow arc (20 degrees?), and over a relatively short distance (5 meters?), one strategy for dealing with Envy Demons might be to avoid them entirely. Attacking them at range would only serve to draw their attention to you immediately, so, absent one-shotting, ranged attacking might not work. Avoiding monsters? I know, I know: Not very Diablo. But hey - you could always attack them, and draw their attention + the attention of all nearby Envy Demons + summon their tormentor! Being swarmed by demons, + a big baddie on the way? That sounds like Diablo! A tactical approach that might work: stun them from behind, then kill them. Mechanically, this would require envy demons be weak against whatever forms of stun (or other crowd control) exist in the game; making them weak against attacks from behind might also make sense. Ideally, it should be possible for a moderately-well equipped player at that stage in the game to kill a stunned Envy Demon from behind before the stun wears off.
The creature would look like a skin-less, eye-less human carrying around a directional lantern with a large, fiery, eye in it. The 'light' from the lantern would give the player a very clear sense of how far, and over what arc, the gaze extended. Upon death, the creature would collapse, and the lantern would fall to the ground, shatter, and explode.

Let me know what you guys think! Perhaps it's a bit half-baked, but I do think it would be fun to have to employ more than just a very basic target-prioritization strategy in Diablo 3! Any of you have ideas/thoughts along similar lines?
