I said "a bigger challenge" and you automatically translated it into "no challenge if you don't do the achievement"...

I think the way the ladder characters compared to non-ladder characters is good.

Of course bots ruin the race itself but that's another issue, one that Blizzard hopefully will deal with in time for D3. This is afaik not that common in hc where I play.

I think there should be more ladder resets. The fun part in the game is not being shuttled to act 5 hell and leech to level 70 then exp to level 95.
I think the fun part in the game is starting from the beginning, trying new characters/builds, playing the game following the storyline (by that I mean doing the quests) and making due with the items you find/trade. by then you actually become happy when you find decent items and don't just throw another shako, enigma etc on the mule account.

New ladder reset bimontly or every three months would be really good in my opinion. Let those who want to hoard riches like a dragon play non-ladder :)

For people to compete in a experience ladder, your 'opponents' must not have a too big head start. If they are one week ahead you have no chance of winning. This is why monthly (or longer) resets wouldn't work well. You would have to start exactly in the beginning or you have no chance at winning. This can be translated into Blizzard forcing us to play on day X or you won't have another chance for another month, how fun is that?

It's simply not fun !! lol I work, I have friends, I have a life... I don't have the time to do that so it's mean I'll never have chance to participate to ladder !! It's supposed to work fine in that way ?

And all stop to talk about Bots, yes it's a problem in d2 but what said that d3 will have bots ??? blizzard will take care about that...

I want the ladder to be the same as in D2, only cap the maximum length to one year, and never shorter than 3 months, and always add a patch that rebalance and remove all new bots and cheats. I always play on ladder, because some more rune words, that i never find runes for :) but I prefer the ladder anyway, I usually stop at lvl 90 and make new chars, you dont have to compete and try to win the ladder, it is fun to be on the ladder anyway. But the bots kills the economy ofc.

Just a question. Do you want the long ladders because of a ladder reason, or because you don't want to lose your stuff, because that is a different thing. You can have permanent characters and new ladders at the same time. Because it looks as if you are completely uninterested in the ladder.

Completely is a strong word, can you explain how why you thint that?

Like most players on the ladder, i know from start that i cant win and be the first to 99. I have a life and I dont use dupes or hacks or bots so I cant win.

I play the ladder because of some reasons:

* a few more drops are available
* some more rune words to dream about
* a much better economy at the start, before the bots destoys it, but still way better than oustide the ladder where dupes have been for years i guess.

Does all else play ladder to be first to 99? My guess is no.

I think it is best if most of your playing is done on non-ladder and your newly created characters are a part of that weeks (and months) ladder, but are tossed back to non-ladder afterwards (like in a reset). Your weekly ladder characters would only be able to trade with other ladder characters for the first week, to keep it fair for everyone (and simulate the first week of a ladder reset). The monthly ladder would allow trading with non-ladder characters and have the purpose of letting you get to lvl 99.

It would of course be a choice to create a ladder character, and you can move to non-ladder (correction - the monthly ladder) at any time if you don't think you have a chance and wants to get into the real economy.

Not only would you compete for leveling speed in each separate weekly ladder, but you would also have an overall ladder so you can see who holds the leveling record. It would be reset with the non-ladder (or complete) reset (which is the complete wipe and clean of the economy, not very frequent).

Just saying that you don't have to start thinking about items and economy when you hear the word 'ladder'. The ladder is the highscore of something, nothing else (unless you make it that way).

Right, So I hope Blizzard will innovate the ladder to bring that more attractive and not only compare players with the time we play (exp/lv). I expect more than 1 superficial stat like level.

I'd like to keep the old level based ladder. But we could have tabs for different criterias. In softcore.. least deaths or what not. That could courage people to die less.
