http://us.battle.net...gQfS!abX!ZaZaZZ

Let me begin with the fact that I am aware any and all of these skills shown so far can change. Also I do not know how many actual points we will get. However, I am so bored waiting for Blizzcon and 1.13 patch that I decided to come up with this build.

When D3 was announced I went over to the website and looked at the map among many things. I noticed the small island to the North named Xiansai. I was hoping that we would get some agile quick melee class. One that was ninja or assassin like. To my dismay the character we got from Xiansai was the Wizard. Don't get me wrong, the Wizard is cool I have just never really been into pure casting classes (I have a level 80 Shadow Priest and I constantly wish I could be in the mess of the fight) it is just not my style. So I still want to play the Wizard class but don't want to be a caster. I looked closer at the Wizard's skill tree and found a few skills I could use to make my own ninja class. This is a build based off of getting the Wizard into the heart of the battle relying on melee more than magic. I know a lot of people will be like "Why don't you just play the Barb?" To me, looks make the character (why I chose Shadow Priest on WoW, awesome looking in shadow form) and I want to look small and agile.

This build relies on spectral blades and melee for its damage. It also uses health gain, improved defense, and evasive abilities to stay IN the fight.

All skills are taken from here: http://www.shacknews...ticle.x?id=1020
It uses mostly conjure with some Arcane and 1-2 storm spells. I don't know how many points we will get so all of these skills might not be viable but I have added all of them for now.

Tier 1

Lightning Speed - gives you more damage (storm)

* Rank 0/15
* Increases the casting speed by 3%

Efficient Magics - allows you to spam spells easier (arcane)

* Rank 0/15
* Lowers the mana cost of all spells by 3%.

Spectral Blade - main attack (conjure)

* Rank 0/1
* Mana Cost: 7
* Summons a spectral blade that strikes each enemy in front of the Wizard 3 times causing 1-5 physical damage with each hit.

Damage Resistant - raise defense so you can be IN the fight (arcane)

* Rank 0/15
* Increases armor by 5% and all resistances by 4%

Weapon Mastery - increase melee (conjure)

* Rank 0/15
* Increase physical damage done by all weapons by 15%.

Tier 2

Static Charge (storm)

* Rank 0/15
* Converts 5% of all damage taken into mana

Wave of Force - helpful when overburdened (arcane)

* Rank 0/1
* Mana Cost: 25
* Project a wave of force outwards, repelling enemies and projectiles and dealing 1-8 damage.

Arcane Armor - using stone skin for defense (arcane)

* Rank 0/15
* While your Storm Armor, Stone Skin or Temporal Armor spells are active, your armor is increased by 20%.

Stone Skin - main form of defense to fight up close (conjure)

* Rank 0/1
* Mana Cost: 12
* Shield yourself with rock and stone, absorbing 30 damage. Lasts 8 seconds.
* Cooldown: 15 seconds.

Mirror Image - ninja type spell (conjure)

* Rank 0/1
* Mana Cost: 18
* Create an illusionary duplicate of yourself that lasts for 8 seconds.

Conjured Health - help mirror and gives you more health (conjure)

* Rank 0/15
* Increases total health by 8% and the health of your conjured images by 12%.

Tier 3

Lethal Energy - increases melee damage (storm)

* Rank 0/15
* Increases the chance to score critical hits with melee and psell attacks by 5%.

Slow Time - cool ninja-like spell (arcane)

* Rank 0/1
* Mana Cost: 20
* Warp space and time, slowing nearby monsters and projectiles.
* Enemy attack cooldown increase: 1 second(s)

Conjuring Duration - boosting stone armor for defense (conjure)

* Rank 0/15
* Increases the duration of your Stone Skin and Acid cloud spells by 1 second and the duration of your mirror image images by 2 seconds.

Improved Spectral Blade - increases main spell (conjure)

* Rank 0/15
* Increases the damage of Spectral Blade by 14%.

Tier 4

Temporal Armor - helpful when overburdened (arcane)

* Rank 0/1
* Mana Cost: Unknown
* Surrounds the wizard in a protective shell that stops all damage from an attack every 6 seconds. The shell dissipates after absorbing 12 attacks

Teleport - of course (arcane)

* Rank 0/1
* Mana Cost: 23
* Teleport to the selected location up to 40 feet away

Runic Might - should be awesome (arcane)

* Rank 0/15
* Increases the effect of all runes

Magic Weapon - increase weapon damage

* Rank 0/1
* Mana Cost: 10
* Imbue your weapon with magical energy granting it increased damage.

Slowing Strikes - ninja-like spell (conjure)

* Rank 0/15
* Enemies damaged by your melee attacks, Spectral Blade or Magic Weapon have their movement speed reduced by 30% and their attack speed reduced by 20% for 4 seconds.

Armor Piercing - increases melee damage (conjure)

* Rank 0/15
* Conjured and physical damage decreases the armor of armored enemies.

Here is the basic outline of the tactics:
First you cast stone skin
then you teleport into the middle of the monsters
then you cast mirror image
wave force to push the monsters away
cast slow time bubble
then go after the monster with spectral blade and melee while your mirrors fight as well

YEs its pretty cool that's what blizzard meant when they said diversity should come with theskills not the attribute.

The only problem is the weapons and armor youll be able to use will never be as strong cuz of the stats...
but well see how they handle that

i suspect weapons and armour will have level req rather than str or dex req.

I like that idea a lot.  And hopefully reform is right.  Although I don't really see them making a wizard be able to wear plate mail as easily as being the correct level, but she at least might be able to wear stronger armors that in conjunction with stone skin and those other spells will be enough to let this class melee

well, I don't really think the "ninja" build should get the best armor. Instead the build focuses more on an evasive defense like a "ninja". That's why I added slowtime, force push, and teleport for defensive reasons.

This build might not even be viable in game. I just thought it would be a fun and different way to play the wizard

I believe skills like Hydra and Poison Cloud are very good for melee wizard. Those skill are able to damage the enemies even while you're using your melee attacks or the spectral blades, allowing you to stack DPS skills unlike general active damag spells.

"In time the hissing of her sanity

Faded out her voice and soiled her name

And like marked pages in a diary

Everything seemed clean that is unstained

The incoherent talk of ordinary days

Why would we really need to live?

Decide what is clear and what's within a haze

What you should take and what to give" - Opeth

True but I chose not to add them because it takes away from the true essence of the "ninja" build. This build is not made to be the highest DPS, it is just a way of taking a caster class and making it not so casterie, Spectral blade is the only offensive casting spell and it is close range and has a blade..

Here is how it goes:
stone skin
teleport right into the middle of them
mirror image
slow time
spam spectral blade
force push when the close back in.
Rinse repeat

well, you are not really. You would be using spectral blade quite a bit since it is your main offensive abilities.

stone skin, teleport, slowtime, mirror image, spectral blade, force push.

that's six spells for that one strategy. you are only given 7 quick slots including the tab option. Not to mention we are all use to 1-2 skills from D2 right now anyway.

keep in mind the defense of this class is based on evasion. so most of the time that is where your focus , and in my opinion, where the fun comes from.

Plus all of this is based in theory so...

So quick question... Have any of the makers or anyone said anything about respecs? I hope it's not like D2, if you screw up you either live with it or make a new toon.

Off topic: respecs have been mentioned. Jay Wilson said they plan on including "some way" to change skills.

On topic: ninja kill FTW
