If anythings going to be the death of a Diablo 3 news community, it will be Diablo 3 itself. Diablofans.com will never get as much attention as the actual game

That is possible, yes. But I think it's more likely people will be creating tons of threads to be discussing their progress, or items they found, or their character builds so far.

The site is "dying" because the initial hype of the last summer and the build-up from January to the summer is over (at least, for me, that's when the hype started- with the patch hints and the early ladder reset hints which all came true eventually). Basically, it's just going back to it's former state- a time when it wasn't being flooded by spammers with idiotic one-sentence theories that have already been said a million times.

Really though. This site was smaller before D3 was announced and i guess it was easy to communicate with each other then because we all knew each other well. But now i dont know 90% of the total members who come online.

Numbers had little to do with it. There was a time when people used full sentences. People actually tried to make their points easy to understand, and not just spamming a bunch of acronyms and jargon that half the people here do not understand. That made it easy to understand.

Then the horde of new comers came and rampaged this site with their nonsensical ill thought out posts, and bringing with them a tide of WTFs and OMGs. This place was never the same again. I am one of the few members of old, though I doubt a few thousands ROFLcopters and LOLlerskates will turn people away in droves, but I cannot deny the possibility it has something to do with it, no matter how small a part.

This place is doing ok. you want to see a dead site go to starcrafttwo.com.

Did TwilightRealm leave again? seems like I haven't seen him since he last replied to this thread.

First off I want to say that as a new member,I enjoy most of the posts that go up.  Yes some are a little nonsensical, however there is still alot of good content here.  I think that the only thing to do is continue to inspire good conversations//forums, and the site will grow, and be as fun (or not as fun) as the members make it...

I would say that was a good rant- no flame, direct or indirect, no targeting anyone... It really wasn't a rant. It was just a good point.

I've been going on forums for ages. It's always the same process.

Ok. Look at the Midway forums. Before the release of MK:A, they used to get 2000 posts a day at minimum. After the hype died down..they were getting 50 a day maximum. After MK Vs. DC was announced, activity sparked up again.

Diablofans.com is no different. It's built on a game, not on interaction within the community, which you should develop if you want a more thriving, and active forum.

Before the announcement we got the same traffic we do right now. I see no problem with that, it weeds out the real members from the fake ones. This has been discussed to death, lol. For us select few members- who rank in less than 100- we make this an active community. For most nearly everyone else, it's just a place to join, post twice, and never log back in again. Is there anything wrong with that? I don't think so. Most of the people who exhibit such behavior do not have posting quality, anyway.

Some of the population of this site has been here since this was a very small community with no daily updates on D3 related news. All we used to do was chat about each other and ROLEPLAY.

Now everything's changed you know. There are daily updates on D3 related news but now only a few people like to chat about each other and i can't see no one role playing.

The role playing kinda fizzle and died, probably because the original participators don't really do it anymore, and new people (like me) who don't know jack shit about it, try it, and uber fail it, thus ruining the whole experience. Oh mortality.
