Upcoming Hotfix – EXP from Pets in The Scorched Chapel
The Witch Doctor pet exploit that's been circling around is getting hotfixed.

Hey all,

We've seen a lot of posts about this subject, so I just wanted to confirm that a hotfix is currently in the works to address a bug that's causing player-summoned pets to grant experience when killed in the Scorched Chapel. We hope to implement the fix soon, and will provide an update to everyone once it’s live. (For clarity, hotfixes are updates we make on our end that don’t require you to download a new patch. Some hotfixes will go live the moment they are implemented, while others may require server restarts to take effect.)

In the meantime, since it’s not intended for pets summoned by players or items to grant experience, we encourage you to game responsibly and avoid exploiting this bug to gain an advantage. Not only can this potentially lead to your account being penalized (depending on the situation), but more importantly it's not really fair to your fellow players. When exploited, bugs like this can negatively impact the enjoyment of others – which is why we're working as quickly as we can to fix it, and why we'd appreciate your help in keeping the effects of the bug as minimal as possible until it’s resolved.

This issue was originally reported on our forums during 1.0.7 PTR testing; however, we unfortunately missed the reports before patch 1.0.7 was released, and as a result the bug went live. So, a big thank you not only to the players who reported the bug initially by posting, but also to those who helped bring it to our attention by contacting our Hacks team.

On that note, if you're not sure how to report a bug or exploit, here's a quick recap: While not every report will receive a response, we sincerely appreciate everyone’s help in keeping us informed of possible issues as they arise.

Wyatt Cheng on Arcane Torrent
A few things about Wizards' skill Arcane Torrent seem to not be clear to some players and Wyatt Cheng made some detailed clarifications on them on Reddit today.

It's per weapon attack period, which is the same for all skills that are in this vein whether it be Tempest Rush, Whirlwind, Disintegrate, Rapid Fire, or what have you.
So, if you have a 2.0 attack speed, then your weapon attack period is 0.5 seconds, so you are doing X% weapon damage every 0.5 seconds.
This is analogous to a more standard attack such as Magic Missile or Bash, which also list their damages as per weapon attack period. It just tends to be more obvious that is what's happening in those cases because your character animates over the course of the attack period to provide clear delineation points.

Could you explain how it works specifically with Arcane Torrent and a 1.0 attack speed one?
Arcane Torrent baseline says it does 210% weapon damage. This means it does 210% weapon damage for every attack period of your weapon.
If your weapon has a 1.0 attack speed, then it means your weapon goes through one attack period every second. Therefore your attack period is 1.0 seconds, and you'll do 210% weapon damage every 1.0 seconds or 210% weapon damage per second.
If your weapon has a 1.4 attack speed, then it means your weapon goes through 1.4 attack periods every second. Therefore your attack period is 0.714 seconds, and you'll do 210% weapon damage every 0.714 seconds or 294% weapon damage per second. (Reddit)

Aesthetically, What is Your Favorite Armor Set?

If the relative strength of your armor was not a concern, and you could freely don your hero with whatever armor you wished for maximum visual satisfaction, we want to know: In terms of pure aesthetics, what is your favorite armor set in Diablo III?

Still No Release Date for 1.0.8
Development of patch 1.0.8 is well under way, but it includes far more than just mob density changes. If you're curious about all the details, you can find the latest PTR patch notes for patch 1.0.8 here.

We highly encourage players to take part in the patch 1.0.8 PTR and offer us their constructive feedback and bug reports so that we can make patch 1.0.8 the best possible patch it can be before it goes live. That said, we don't have a release date announced for the patch yet, but we're working on it just as quickly as we can. :) (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

680% Magic Find Cap in 1.0.8
The current Magic Find cap is still a mystery for many players and Vaeflare clarified today that right now it's 625%, but in Patch 1.0.8 it's increased to 680% through various gameplay changes.

Originally Posted by Blizzard (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

Currently in patch 1.0.7, the hard cap on Magic Find is 625% (300% soft cap + 75% NV stacks + 250% MP 10 on Inferno).

Starting in patch 1.0.8 however, the Magic Find bonus from shrines will be able to exceed the “soft cap” of 300% that players can achieve from a combination of their own gear and their follower’s gear. In patch 1.0.8 we’re also adding a buff to multiplayer games called “Strength in Numbers” which allows for a 10% bonus to Magic Find, Gold Find, and experience per additional player in a multiplayer game, up to a maximum of 30% in a four-player game. The Magic Find and Gold find bonuses of this multiplayer feature can exceed their respective 300% cap as well.

So after patch 1.0.8, if you have 300% Magic Find from your gear and your followers, have 5 stacks of NV (+75% MF), are playing on Inferno at MP10 (+250% MF), have a Fortune Shrine buff active (+25% MF), AND are playing a four player multiplayer game (+30% MF), you can hit the maximum of a 680% bonus to Magic Find. Shiny!

Keep in mind that this cap will be lower for if you aren’t playing on Inferno and/or aren’t using Monster Power level 10, etc.

Inspiring Presence Back to 2%
Barbarians' passive skill Inspiring Presence got buffed to 4% in the current PTR, but evidently it's going back  down to 2% since players report it makes every kind of life regeneration obsolete.

Originally Posted by Blizzard (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

In a future PTR build, it will return 2% of your maximum Life per second instead of 4%. This is being done to keep it in line with other Life regeneration skills.

Waller Affix Complaints
A group of members on the official forums report a supposed bug with waller affix champions. According to the claims, sometimes the wallers would spawn 4 walls where the player gets stuck for a quite crucial amount of time.

Thanks so much for your reports. At the moment, our QA team is having difficulty reproducing this bug internally, so we have a small request.

If you're still running into situations where Waller monsters are spawning their walls right on top of your characters, we would really appreciate a list of steps that you took to get this bug to occur or a video that shows when and where this happens. (While we're super thankful for the reports and screenshots you've submitted thus far, we just need some additional details to figure out what's going on.)

For clarity: Waller champions will sometimes spawn multiple walls in a tight formation near a player, which can limit mobility. This is not a bug. However, if a single Waller wall is spawned right on top of a character, causing it to be unable to move, then that's a bug and we would like to know more about these situations.

Thank you!

Still Nothing Concrete for 1.0.9
Although there are a lot of wishlists and suggestions for the next patch, like MrMonstrosity's Dream Patch Notes we posted recently, there is still nothing definite coming from Blizzard regarding the future patches. Blue posters do want to read your wishlists though, so keep those coming! We've already seen some suggestions being implemented almost momentarily.

Is it okay if we make a wish list for the patch 1.09 ?
Of course :-)

Any such wish list from you guys will be interesting to read for sure, but please keep in mind that we cannot make any promises that your wishes may come true. Obviously we are interested in hearing what you guys would like to see next, even if it is something that has been mentioned many times before.

Diablo 3 as a First Person Shooter?
An interesting topic was brought up on the official forums where user Scaart asks what Diablo would look like as a First Person Shooter. Vaneras gives his view on the topic.

If we follow this amusing train of thought, and hypothetically speak of turning Diablo III into a shooter, wouldn't the game be better suited as a third person shooter rather than a first person one?

Just imagine WW spec in first person view, awesome!
Yup, that would be a rather messy experience from a first person perspective indeed, but maybe it would not be so bad from a third person perspective :-)

Archon Inferno's Disintegrate Build
Archon Inferno has released a new video explaining a few great skill choices for a Disintegrate build, that will become viable come 1.0.8. He also mentions some examples for Ray of Frost, which in his opinion still needs a slight buff.
