XFire Slips WWI Game Announcement? 683 Comments

Update (3pm): The XFire WWI page has been edited, removing the Game Announcement part. For those skeptic, I took a screenshot before it got edited. I learned to take screenshots after Legendary Pictures pulled a similar stunt (removing and editing Diablo from the Films Under Development section).

- If you are wondering, I contacted my XFire liaison around noon. No response as of 3pm.
- Also one of my Blizzard liaisons. Blizzard has not made any press releases concerning a Game Announcement.

Original Story
XFire either accidentally posted there would be a Game Announcement based on the rumors sprung from DiabloFans.com and Blizzplanet, or they know something and oops ... slipped it. Did XFire confirm there will be a game announcement?

As usual, I will communicate with my XFire and Blizzard contacts for a comment to clarify this new rumor. Stay tuned for updates.

At this point, this is still considered a rumor -- keep that in mind. Blizzard has not made any official announcements concerning a a game announcement at the Blizzard Worldwide Invitationals.

No way its an accident, i cant believe a company like xfire would post anything like that without the permission of blizzard.

news travels fast it seems these days with diabloii.net and shacknews reporting on this too its definatly a good day to be a hopefull d3 fan were just waiting on md now to see if his source can confirm anything but its a fantastic lead imo :D

It may also be used just to promote the site with a rush of anticipation. Need I remind everyone of the Diablo Banner we had, and all the sites and Magazines reaction to our page, thinking we knew something definite? ;)

A bit of reassurance is good, but I wish it had come from blizzard itself. Although Xfire is probably in cahoots with blizzard, seeing as how a lot of their users play blizz games. I bet they ran it past some corporate officials in blizzard's head office before they posted it.

we're all hoping that it's Diablo III.

But what I'm curious about is that if this is a mistake about posting something that they have been told to keep quite, will they take it down or will they keep it up.

If they take it down then it is Diablo III if they don't then they did it on purpose and it is Diablo III.

Interesting...I do believe that this is a slip up on xfire's part... However, if they were to take it down now wouldn't that just cause people to ask more questions?

I don't know if things are getting crazy or hysterical, but either way if we're going to get a confirmation that a game will be annouced at the WWI it should be before the end of next week.

Awesome find MD; things just keep looking more and more our way. Can't wait to hear that confirmation and I agree either way it points to an announcement. Thought I am reminded of that one time...was it gamespot? Somewhere posted D3 in the background for E3 or some event a while back?? But with everything that's going on this is hard to deny...and hell I don't want to deny it. Bring on WWI.

yeah no doubt, but in my eyes this is just the icing on the cake because i was already 99.9% sure a game was going to be announced at WWI. Now it just needs to be D3 :)
