I visited the 2008 New York Comic Con and met Richard A. Knaak and Marco Palmieri from Pocket Books (a Simon & Schuster Division). At the booth I saw the front cover I shared a few days ago. The booth had big posters of Diablo Archive and Starcraft: The Dark Templar, Twilight (which shows Ulrezaj the Dark Archon).

The Diablo Archive Pocket Book poster showed the Diablo Logo and text for what may be considered the final front cover ready to be print. Pocket Books just sent me on request the poster image, and it seems Blizzard had no problem making it public. Thanks, Blizzard, Pocket Books, Marco Palmieri, and Richard A. Knaak.

For those interested in acquring this tome, Diablo Archive is a collection of Diablo novels containing:

Diablo: Legacy of Blood
Diablo: The Black Road
Diablo: The Kingdom of Shadow
Diablo: Demonsbane

Description

Since the beginning of time, the angelic hosts of the High Heavens and the demonic hordes of the Burning Hells have been locked in a struggle for the fate of all Creation. That war has now come to the mortal realm...and neither Man nor Demon nor Angel will be left unscathed....

LEGACY OF BLOOD: Norrec Vizharan has become a living nightmare. While on a quest for magical treasure, he discovers an artifact beyond his wildest dreams: the ancient armor of Bartuc, the legendary Warrior of Blood. But the mysterious armor is cursed, channeling a malevolent power into Norrec's tortured soul. Pursued by demons who covet the dark armor for their own purposes, Norrec must overcome a bloodlust he can scarcely control and learn the truth about his terrifying curse before he is lost to darkness forever.

THE BLACK ROAD: Darrick Lang is coming home. Years ago he left the town of Bramwell to walk the wide world as a champion of the realm. But Bramwell is not as he left it. Something dark and terrifying has ensnared the townsfolk, something very old and very patient, tangling innocents in a web of malice and profaning the very earth itself. Now that same power calls to Darrick...and his only hope may be to walk the same perilous path of damnation.

THE KINGDOM OF SHADOW: Legend speaks of a long-dead city known as Ureh, thought by many to have been a gateway to the High Heavens. It is said that every two thousand years, Ureh is reborn -- and all its lost riches are revealed to those brave enough to seek them out. Now the Vizjerai sorcerer Quov Tsin has come to witness Ureh's rebirth for himself with Kentril Dumon and his band of mercenaries in tow. But what awaits them is like nothing they imagined.

DEMONSBANE: What was to have been a victorious last stand against a demonic invasion of Blackmarch has instead become a massacre. Only Siggard remains, a warrior unable to remember the final hours of the battle. As he hunts the demon lord who butchered everything dear to him, Siggard pieces together the truth of that terrible battle...and finds that his nightmare is only beginning.

Thank you, MD.  I think I will buy that, purely for the sake of having a hardcopy of Demonsbane.

That's what finally sold me, as well (the inclusion of Demonsbane).  I was going to buy the other three separately, mostly because I will have finished the Sin War trilogy well before July 8, and I didn't want to wait that long.  But now I'm happy to do so.

The cover art is really nifty, too.

And, if things go well, I'll have a part-time job as a receiver at the bookstore by then, so I'll be one of the first to lay my hands on it (plus get a discount).

i mean really just take archive off there. and all the stuff at the bottom. and at the bottom put roman numeral 3. there you go you have a diablo box cover. lol. actually. doesnt it look like diablos coming out of a door. maybe he and his brothers found a door out of hell or the dark abyss they were banished in after there soulstones got destroyed. hmmmmmmm.   lol

I was wondering about that also. Especially since Moon of the Spider was the only one with advertisements inside Diablo II LoD.

This is very exciting. So much as been happening in diablo universe compared to a couple years ago.

Perhaps cramming five books into a trade-paper edition was deemed too costly to produce on a mass scale? (I'm just speculating.)

I'm happy with the four it contains, though.

Didn't a previous version of the cover art only reflect three books?  It seems to my memory (which may be faulty) that Demonsbane is a new addition to this edition.

This is a buy for sure.

This also eliminates Blizzard announcing a new Book @ WWI!

Demonsbane was actually among the first, if not the first book in the diablo setting.  It was released as an eBook. It is the second time it goes on printing. The first time was a archive containing a diablo, a starcraft and a warcraft book.

How much of the novels do you think the rumoured movie will incorporate? or do you think that it will be a completely new story line?

Judging by what usually happens with movies, I'm guessing they would just create their own storyline.  Or, if they do use one of the novels, they would likely choose The Sin War because it sets the grounds for what the whole Diablo universe is based on.
