Blue Posts Round-Up
Nevalistis made two posts on the official forums. The first, more important, confirms what we expected: Patch 2.4 is likely to be released on Tuesday, during usual maintenance, unless a technical problem happens. The second is how the Kanai's Cube icons on the PTR are currently its final iteration.

This leaves a window of possible patch dates; sometime between Season 4 ending and Season 5 beginning. We also, typically, deploy patches on Tuesdays (for North America). However, deployment dates can suddenly shift, including down to the last minute. Technology can be a fickle mistress, and unforeseen circumstances can arise.
This is why we don't provide firm patch release dates. However, we know a lot of players want to plan their time around new content or the start of the new Season. Announcing a more firm Season date is a way to meet in the middle. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)
On Cube Icons
The current cube icons look like this:
www.dh-deluxe.de/files/images/ptr2-4/cube-icons.jpg
top, regular diamond: effect that cannot be cubed (like Hellfire)
middle, empty diamond: effect not cubed yet
bottom, filled diamond: effect already cubedThis is, indeed, the latest iteration of this feature. After some player feedback that our original version of this feature was difficult to read (and difficult to tell the difference between the cubed or not cubed indicators), our artists agreed and we opted for the clearer and more simplified version you see in Hebalon's screenshot above. What Class Should You Play?
Rhykker made a video talking about what class you should play once Patch 2.4 is released and Season 5 starts. Obviously each player should play whatever sounds the most fun for them, but for those in doubt about it, the video is quite enlightening!
Well that was a completely unhelpful video.
Choosing a class based off the current PTR leaderboards is so misleading to the majority of players. The differences at the top aren't likely to affect most of them, nor are what they can clear indicative of the sort of specific gear, playstyle, and luck in fishing needed compared to others. This patch more than any other patch really does allow you to pick any class and any relatively balanced build and do well.
What people will let you into groups with to play is a whole 'nother story, of course, since that's based off public perception.
he says " solo player barb, wiz, crusaders are best in leaderboards"
last time i checked every solo leaderboard is within the same class, thus
there IS NO BETTER class playing solo on leaderboards..
There is however might be better classes for farming.
EX: WD might be best for solo key farming because of speed. ETC ETC..
The video is horrible because it's rhykker. Hes a noob making videos for other noobs. Game has been out how long now, and he managed to only get Paragon 600s. Shoots any credibility he has down the drain.
Any big streamer should be at a minimum of P900. It shows he/she has the hours played, and has the capacity of high tier gameplay, which results in higher tier builds and videos. He clearly spends more time making videos than he does playing the game. Anyone can come on this website and take a build and make a vid on it with a bit of your own spin on it.
This is why I find streamers like Quinn, Chainer, Mikhail, Debo, Anthony, Jmacc to be more credible because they are in the top tiers of gameplay, with the builds and gear to show for it.
Barbarian: will always be needed due to the group Ignore pain buff (50% dmg reduction is huge), zdps can group mobs, provide health globes debuff targets and of course provide dmg reduction
Wizard: great group play via twisters, highest dmg potential it seems out of all classes// great at solo as well.
DH: similar to the wizard, dhs will be needed for groups and solo play
Crusader: not really needed as much for groups, still has potential for a slot in groups but it really depends on whether WD is better.
WD: tons of group buffs, not many doing solo play, its difficult to see if HT will lag players in group, if it does WDs might be out for groups unless they go dart doc.
my answer would be Wiz>DH>BARB>WD=CRUS for the best classes.
monk is dogshit since they nerfed static into garbage, TR cold builds need a ton of rng for 13 perf ancient items. i wouldnt bother.
Okay now without disagreeing with what you said (since I'm sure you know way more about high end content than me)
How many of the people who need to be told what to play do you think any of that will actually effect? The sort of players who can even consider 13 perf ancient items tend not to need to be told what to do with them. I'd be willing to bet that none of the people coming to the site screaming "omg what is best this season what do i play" are ever going to get p1000 or gr80, nor are they going to do rifts with the mentality of fish for the right composition and then carefully group and herd enemies up. They'll just go into whatever rift and murder everything in sight (which is what I do, because it's fun.)
The thing is this means they can pretty much play anything and get the same sorts of results that they would with anything else, because all the classes are so balanced at a mid level now.
It'd be great if we could highlight just how many options there are now for average players, instead of trying to herd them all into a top level meta that should never really affect them or their midrange groups (but will, because the experts told them it did.)
I don't even know what season journey is lol.
I started to write up a super long reply to this, but it got to the point where I decided to turn it into a thread:
http://www.diablofans.com/forums/diablo-iii-general-forums/diablo-iii-general-discussion/142795-what-do-i-play-in-2-4-summary here's a summary using several different metrics. If you think it's garbage, feel free to say so and suggest how it would be improved.
Yea, I wish he would've said something about how this could totally change between now and the release, and is dependent on personal playstyle before misleading players.......
Now I really don't have a problem with someone using and/or making a video about a build they didn't create, but the guy acts like he did all the work.
To answer your question, I would say at minimum 800. At least have your paragon tabs finished if you're going to make videos entitled "pro tricks" ffs. Rhykker talks about leaderboards and high level Grifts etc..., he's never seen the leaderboard, and if he's been in a high level Grift he was carried. Anyone has the right to open their mouths, but what Rhykker does is fake the funk. He's as casual as they come fronting as a pro with the 2000% drop buff.
Here's how this video should've gone: Hi kiddos, play what you want and have fun, until next time this is Rhykker.... Or, just recap the "highlighted" builds for this season, and say pick whichever looks the most appealing noobcakes...
basically any class aside from monk is fine, monk is ok for lower grifts and TX but it gets really crappy later on
most people even casuals were doing 60-70s in 2.3, we can assume the same for 2.4, now because of that every class other than monk is quite fine for teamplay, barbs are required for ignore pain buff though. your other 3 slots are up to you. most likely will be Zbarb, DH, and a Wiz with the last slot being Wd or Crusader.
