Round 7 Livestream

This Thursday, April 30, another Play Your Way livestream event will take place, starting 4 P.M. PDT. The most voted build was the "Meteor Apocapylse" Wizard, but the player could not take part in the stream, so we will be seeing the "Gong Mode" Monk runner-up. The chances of us getting new information on what they are working on and what's next are slim, but we can hope, right?

Our stalwart Monk runner-up was available, so we'll be grabbing our Daibos and punching our way to victory! Here are the details: For this stream, I'll be joined by Davlok#1847, game designer Don Vu, and special guest and YouTuber Meathead Mikhail as we tackle Torment VI and Greater Rifts with a mixed party of classes! I'll be showcasing the spicy Sriracha-inspired Monk build Davlok submitted while Don will represent the Wizard vote with some bubbly Delsere's action.  If you don't want to miss us the moment we go live, then follow us on Twitch so you know exactly when the action begins!

GR Progress Globes

An interesting discussion happened today on the topic of Progress Globes. Some players feel like the progression should be tied in to actually killing the elites, without making the player go out of his way to pick-up the globes. The response was that during internal testing, it felt somewhat unrewarding to constantly kill enemies and not have them drop anything - specially the harder ones. Read below.

That's a fair question.

During the initial development of Patch 2.1.0, we experimented with a variety of different designs for Greater Rifts. For example, in one such design, loot dropped throughout the Greater Rift. This was eventually changed and we removed said loot from everything but the Rift Guardian (so that the focus can be on killing things).

At one point, we actually tested a version of Greater Rifts where nothing dropped at all—not even progression orbs (and instead had progression somewhat baked into Champions and Elites, like you noted). Based on feedback, though, that scenario felt strangely unrewarding to almost everyone who played it, especially when killing the more challenging monsters.

We feel the current design provides a nice visual reward for playing through Greater Rifts, and helps satisfy that desire to actually "pick" something up (that final loot-splosion when you slay the Rift Guardian notwithstanding). While we don't have any current plans to change how progression orbs work, it is a great question, so I'm glad you brought it up. :)

Sometimes they get lost if you kill them around certain things. Like lava and or mobs that fly off the actual map....
Is there any way to change how they're tossed out/received? The only real flaw in the system is the time lost while scrambling to pick them up. Also it can be a real pain when they fall in the radius of a molten explosion, or other still-active elite effects.
The problem is when you're in a room and the orbs drop on 3 opposite corners and you end up running around to pick up orbs vs making progression on the map. Some elites drop them in a small radius and there's those that throw them across screen. That's what needs to be fixed

Ah, I've seen this happen, too. Basically, you're saying that when you kill an Elite or Champion pack, the resulting progress orbs can fly off in different directions, which can be frustrating if they end up being very far apart or being hidden behind other objects.

That's definitely feedback worth passing on. Thanks!

Connectivity Issues

It seems like all the reports on connectivity issues were not unfounded. While the forum post itself wasn't updated, their official twitter posted that the issues should be solved - so if you are still encountering unusual connection issues, let them know about it.

Yet Another UE DH

Based on wudijo's testing and spreadsheet we recently featured, Rhykker has put up a video guide for what he claims to be the strongest DH build for 2.2. It is quite similar to AOD's build featured a few days ago, with a few skill and item differences - or alternatives. These few differences might spark your interest. Check it out!
