Rumor on D3 Team
A few days ago, there was an alleged leak on Blizzard's games statistics and development teams for current and future games, from Yahoo Finance contributor Tae Kim, who says he has an insider source. While the post had some crazy information, one caught our eye - that the Diablo 3 developer team had been entirely removed to another project. A game similar to Warframe inside the Starcraft universe, with elements from Left 4 Dead, DayZ, Smite and other MOBAs. Yes, we know how that sounds. Blizzard's official reply reassures that is not the case. Read below.

- The insider says the members of the Diablo III team have been moved to a new project set in the Starcraft universe. The game will be similar to Warframe and contain gameplay aspects from Left4Dead, DayZ, Smite, and other MOBAs. It is in early pre-production, which means late 2016 or later.

Posted Feb 2, 2015in wow you would have many gamechangings aspects, you had engine tweaks, more options, new content, very groundbreaking class changes. here? nothing noteworthy. because they don't earn money with this game. no sub fees, no RMAH fees, just box sales and i doubt that they are keeping the game afloat moneywise. they don't dedicate many resources towards this game and it makes me genuinely sad.
by the way: "[..]but I do want to make sure it’s clear that they’re not working on a secret project in the StarCraft universe." sounds to me a bit too specific, or am i reading too much into it? "no no, they are clearly NOT working on a secret project in the starcraft universe! but, uhm, you know, it is a new universe. so they aren't really working on d3 anymore."

Posted Feb 2, 2015i want the company to love their baby just as much as i do. i know i don't pay anymore, but i sold a few 250€ items in the RMAH and contributed more than i could do with a sub. but they take the only source of incoming money away and leave us with the same game it has been for two years. there is only so much fun you can have with the exact same acts, mechanics, classes and enemies.
we all know it is hard to make a good game, but come on, more content isn't witchcraft. show respect for the game you expect people to buy.

Posted Feb 2, 2015it's borderline childish when you compare it to something like this:

Of course, comparing concept art with a QA-approved wallpaper isn't entirely fair, but the point is how 'disconnected' D3's artistic inspiration was.
Sometimes I still get asked why I defend RoS so vigorously, and one argument I stick to is that D3 vanilla fails to convey a grim atmosphere despite trying very, very hard. RoS succeeds at it without even sneezing.
Aside from that, I'm excited to play Season 2. It will probably be fun for another 40-50 hours, which at the end of the day doesn't even cost an additional dime.

Posted Feb 2, 2015Either way, I'd like to point people to realize that there is a very -very- high chance that this is a baseless rumor. When someone publishes something like that and in the article itself denies the D3 part is true. It's the sole reason why this piece of news was published - because I was seeing everyone left and right (reddit, other fansites) accepting and confirming how the D3 team had been entirely scrapped, based on a crazy post like this. We still have Patch 2.2, more seasons to come, community managers - the whole notion that these would work on a "Warframe on the Starcraft universe" is just ludicrous.

Posted Feb 2, 2015The "ludicrous" part of my commentary was aimed at the D3 team being completely gutted when we know, for a fact, that they are working on more content, and when there's a pretty decent chance that D3 gets another expansion (imho).
