Legendary Drop Rates Thread

A couple days ago we featured a datamined spreadsheet (posted on Ilbe) with all the Legendary drop rates for Patch 2.1. Angzt has organized those drop rates in a clean and easy to check thread on our forums. Read its introduction below, or visit the full thread for all the drop rates!

Some of you might remember the old, pre-2.1 Legendary roll weight precentages thread. Since 2.1 added and changes many items, these tables were outdated but 데이터를거두는자 of the Korean forum Ilbe has since posted an updated version, which consists of multiple tables. We went ahead and made an all-in-one version with the non-Smart Loot chance added for each item!

How to read

Each table describes the drop chances for one specific item slot/type. The class-columns note the chance that a Legendary or Set item for this slot turns out to be the item specified in the row, if the item rolls Smart Loot for this class.

For example, when I'm playing Barabrian and I find or gamble a Legendary or Set helm (which happens to roll Smart Loot), the chance for it to be Andariel's Visage is 5.26%.

An empty cell means that this item does not drop as Smart Loot for that class. However, it can still drop as non-Smart Loot.

Since each item has a 15% chance to not be Smart Loot, it is entirely possible to find items on a class which does not have a value listed here. The odds for this are listed in the Non SL column. Keep in mind that there's only a 15% chance that the value there even becomes relevant!

The Weight column merely lists the value used for the internal calculations for the other odds and does not have any additional gameplay relevance.
In the Note column, we listed whether an item is exclusive to the Torment difficulty ("T"), or the first Season ("S1"). Remember that all S1 items will be obtainable in any game mode after the Season ends.

If you're not playing Seasons or on Sub-Torment difficulty, the odds listed here may not be appropriate for you. If there are items in the table you're looking at which have a note for a game mode you're not in, the drop chance for all other items increases. To calculate the new drop chance, you need to sum all the drop chances of items you can actually acquire (those without a "T" or "S1"). Now divide this number by 100. Then, you need to divide the drop chance of the item you want by this new number.

Simple Example: Let's look at Demon Hunter Cloaks. Say I'm only playing my DH on Normal difficulty right now. This means that I can't acquire Natalya's Embrace. Now, I want to know how likely it is to get Blackfeather. So, I take all the chances of the items I can acquire and add them up. That's 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 = 80. I divide 80 by 100 and get 0.8. Now, I divide the chance to get Blackfeather by this number and get 20% / 0.8 = 25%. So, my chance to get Blackfeather from a random Legendary/Set Cloak on Sub-Torment difficulties is 25%.

John Yang on Pet Survivability

John Yang made a post on the forums explaining some of the philosophies on Pet Survivability and its relation to Nephalem Rifts (and GRs). He even mentions some really interesting tweaks to pets in the near future. Check the post below!

Hey everyone. We’re in the process of doing a review of Rift Guardian abilities and extremely damaging monster abilities in regards to the amount pets take. Our philosophy on pet survivability can be summed up as follows:

Pets should be roughly as survivable as the player. There’s a lot to this statement so let me clarify a bit:
  • Pets should scale with your survivability stats. They currently scale with most of your stats but not all of them. This is being worked on.
  • Pets should derive their Toughness from yours, and if you skip out on it, your pets’ survivability should be noticeably lower as a result. On the flip side, they should be noticeably tougher if you’ve increased your own Toughness. You shouldn’t skimp on Toughness just because you have pets.
  • We don’t want pets to be invulnerable tanks. In the live environment pets are too squishy, but even after our review is done in a future patch, if your pets are still dying a lot, we want you to be looking to increase your Toughness, which will consequently increase your pets' survivability.
To work towards the first goal, Pets should take reduced damage based on how avoidable the monster attack normally is for a player. This is done instead of giving pets AI to run away from damaging attacks, which would cause them to lose out on DPS time. These monster attacks exist in a spectrum but roughly fall into 3 categories:
  • Full damage to pets - Basic melee/weak projectile attacks, not expected to be always avoided by a player.
  • Reduced damage to pets - Special attacks such as fireballs, which typically deal more damage than a basic attack, are pretty bright and visible, and can sometimes be avoided by the player. Good example are Perdition’s volley attack or Agnidox’s fireballs.
  • Drastically reduced damage to pets - Persistent AoEs for which the player is intended to move out of quickly or highly-telegraphed attacks for which the player is intended to avoid altogether. Examples are Thunderstorm monster affix, Mallet Lord’s arm attack, or Morlu meteors.
We’re not at our goal yet but are actively working towards it. Though the vast majority of monsters abilities in the game already follow these guidelines, we’ve identified a number of monsters abilities (e.g. Mallet Lord’s arm attack and some others mentioned in this thread and elsewhere) which don’t, and we will be addressing them in a future patch.

Starcraft II PTR Testing

Blizzard is going to giveaway some amazing prizes to those who help them test an upcoming Starcraft II patch in their PTR, including a pair of Blizzcon Tickets! While not directly Diablo-related, it's not uncommon for Blizzard fans to play more than one of their franchises, and maybe an event like this one is all that's needed to bring a player back. And with a prize like that on the line, I'm sure some Diablo-fans wouldn't mind participating. See the post for details!

How to Get In Accessing the Public Test Realm is easy with the Battle.net Desktop App. Once you've installed and logged into the App, select StarCraft II from your list of games. Next, click the region selection box above the Play button, choose "PTR: Heart of the Swarm" from the dropdown list, and hit Install. If you own a copy of StarCraft II but don’t see a PTR option available, you can enable PTR access by going to Battle.net Account Management and selecting the Public Test Region button under your game license. Once your installation is complete, hit Play to launch the PTR and start digging in to all of the goodies mentioned above.

Please note that the Public Test Realm can only be accessed through the Battle.net Desktop App as outlined above. Attempting to launch “StarCraft II Public Test.exe,” found in your StarCraft II installation folder will not grant entry into the PTR.

Rank #1 Seasonal DH Run

Philosophios, aka Philos on BNet, is currently ranked first on the Demon Hunter solo leaderboards on the US. He recently uploaded a Greater Rift 41 run to youtube. While he did get a little helping hand from a Conduit shrine, the run still showcases some solid positioning and resource management. Check it out!
