Elemental Damage Explained

Such Stronk made a video in which he explains a few important aspects of stacking bonus Elemental Damage. It basically shows that, while +% Elemental Damage does not have direct diminishing returns, the last few items added to your character have less of an impact on your damage as the first ones. It is also showed how this relates to +% Damage to Elites and +% Skill Bonuses. See the video for the full details!

UEE Behind the Scenes

The official Playstation channel uploaded a few behind the scenes videos with the developers talking about some UEE features. The production value is quite high, and overall it's an interesting look into some developer thoughts about Diablo on the new generation of consoles.

Deadset Gaming's Sanctuary Talk

Deadset Gaming released two more Sunday Sanctuary Talk videos, where he talks about a specific subject of the Diablo lore. The first is about the creation of Diablo's universe, whereas the second is about The Eternal Conflict. Watch them below!

Lizard Squad Caught?

Remember these guys? Who in the past two or so weeks were DDoSing game servers and related services like BNet, Twitch, League of Legends. Well, it appears things are looking a bit grim for them, as some bits of their personal info has been leaked by Activist Revolution, and their own Twitter feed reported that some members were caught. Whether they were actually caught by authorities or not, it appears they have stopped their activities for now and people can play their hardcore characters without worrying too much.

There is no diminishing return on how "effective" elemental damage is when compared to itself as the video states. It is just as effective as the rest of your elemental damage, percent by percent. The only diminishing return is in total increase, not effectiveness. The only time there is a diminishing return on increase is if you are lacking elemental/elite/skill bonuses compared to each OTHER. Using sheet/tooltip dps as a crutch will just mislead you.

Don't look too much into the semantics of the video guys, just take from it that subsequent bonuses add slightly less than the first few (and therefore, if you have to choose between 20% elite damage and an extra 20% elemental damage when you already have +60% elemental, the elite is probably more valuable).

I can't believe after so many months of Reaper, people still don't understand stacking damage affixes. Do they still teach maths at school?

In some games, mechanics like these are affected by Diminishing Returns. It's not a matter of math, it's a matter of how the developers choose to code and implement a certain mechanic. They could also be multiplicative, instead of additive as they are - so say, subsequent elemental dmg bonuses could multiply the previous ones or count the base (non elemental) damage as well instead of simply being added to them, if the devs so decided when designing the affix.

Much simpler way to describe the elemental damage is that you add up all your +% to a given element, then multiply the damage by that value. That's how all the stats work, even your primary stat. You get the most benefit when you balance your different multipliers against each other because a stat is additive with itself, but multiplicative with other stats.

OK, but the question is, why isn't your damage just 1.4 x (Baseline) why is it equated like 1.4/1.2??

Congratulations , you are an affix scholar!! Sorry we don't have any cookies for you, realize that a lot of people might not have been playing since day 1, on the other hand some that have might not have had or known the resources to find out this info, until now, as you know the official site guide isn't the greatest at giving details about this game. What about those that are strictly console?? Think b4 you type.
