Closed Beta and PTR Hotfixes, Load Testing Underway, New and Changed Set Item Bonuses

Upcoming Closed Beta Hotfixes

The first hotfixes for the Closed Beta are coming in. There were some issues that were causing the servers to crash. No more!

Some of the hotfixes below will go live the moment they are implemented while others may require the restart of the game to go into effect. Please keep in mind that some issues cannot be addressed without a client-side patch. Also note that changes to certain abilities will not be reflected in its tooltip until a patch is issued.

[UPCOMING HOTFIXES]

No upcoming hotfixes to report at this time.

[LIVE HOTFIXES]

General:

  • Hellfire plans no longer cost Blood Shards and should now cost gold.
  • Monster density in Act I has been adjusted.
  • An issue where crafting certain items caused the server to crashed has been resolved.
  • Resolved an issue where the proc from Odyn Son could proc from itself.
  • Lorath Nahr no longer has a vendor list.

Monk:

  • Serenity - Tranquility: An error will no longer occur when a player takes damage while Serenity - Tranquility is active.

Upcoming PTR Hotfixes

PTR hotfixes are also on the way and while most of them are the same as Beta there are some exclusive for the crowd that isn't able to test the expansion. An example is the dreaded level 61 gear, unusable by players.

  • Items above level 60 will no longer drop for players on the PTR.
  • Players can now gain Paragon levels on the PTR
  • Please note: Experience gained for paragon levels will not be reflected in the XP bar. When you gain a Paragon experience level, you will see a toast notification and the level-up explosion. In addition, the Paragon experience UI button appears, allowing players to spend their Paragon points. This is currently the only way to access the Paragon points UI. We are aware of this issue, and it will require a patch to fully resolve.

Monk:

  • Serenity - Tranquility: An error will no longer occur when a player takes damage while Serenity - Tranquility is active.

Load Testing Underway

This weekend will be Load Test Weekend. This means that Blizzard will be testing their server stability and queuing system, which would sadly make testing time pretty hard for the people that want to try out the Beta. Better have server issues now instead of during launch though!

We’re currently performing load testing on the both the Reaper of Souls Closed Beta and Patch 2.0.1 PTR. Testing began yesterday evening and will continue through Sunday, December 15.

For those who may be unfamiliar with what load testing is, it basically means that we’re artificially limiting the number of players who can be logged into the game at any given time as well as the amount of hardware game data can be stored and run on. The goal of this testing is to put our queuing system and game servers under heavy load so that we can perform server optimizations and make sure that said services perform as smoothly as possible for when patch 2.0.1 and Reaper of Souls launch.

Please note that, due the increased load on our queuing system and games servers, you may experience periods of high latency, disconnects, or long queue times while playing on the Patch 2.0.1 PTR and Closed Beta. While this is completely normal, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

Thank you to everyone currently playing the PTR and Closed Beta! Your efforts and patience will help us tune the game for optimum performance.

They changed the final set bonus for Tal Rasha's, but the other ones are still the same, and still dumb. Why do I have to have 4 pieces to have a damage boost to my cold spells, but only need 2 pieces to have the exact same boost to my fire spells? It doesn't make any sense!

Mokey King set is kind of Wu-Kong style from LoL.

Oh wow, cooldown reduction for Rain of Vengeance as a 5 set piece bonus. I'm sold.

And i agree with Maka. They really need to stop pushing those Tal'Rasha bonuses; just put flat int and all Wizards will be happy.

Yes, I'm sure LoL is where they got that from. Not the original chinese legend or the other dozen movies/anime/video games that have used that character.

    Well...
In order for it to not to be like this, they would have to do something like this:
2pc: Fire, Cold, Lightning deal 5% more damage
    3pc: something new and creative
    4pc: something new and creative
5pc: Meteors fall from the sky
So in comparison with the other class sets Wizards would get more bonuses.

    About the other sets:
Does "Enables all Archon runes" mean that when if I activate Archon, I will have all the runes active simultaneously?

Doesn't change the fact that it makes no sense.

Many things don't make sense. Prime example: Monks run around with weapons in order to use their fists.

All Archon runes at once sounds awesome! =)

As for Tal Rasha's, I think the bonus is fine because Wizard is being redesigned to get lots of choice of elements among their spells. Plus, the lvl70 passive, which makes enemies more vulnerable to all damage the more elements the Wizard has attacked with, it really sinergizes with Tal Rasha's set.

Looks like there will be at least 2 major Wizard builds - Frost-Fire-Lightning Elementalist build with Tal Rasha set and Arcane weapon and also an Arcanist build, that focuses on Arcane damage that buffs itself plus super-charged Archon with Arcane Wraps set.
