A Lot of Paragon 2.0 Clarifications
Paragon 2.0 is still one of the hottest topics on the official forums and Travis Day popped up again to add a few words on the concept. In the meantime Lylirra made several clarifications on the topic in the thread that was started last week.

(Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

I think I added a sufficient number of caveats to my previous post, but let me go ahead and reiterate: Paragon 2.0 is still very much in development, and nothing is set in stone at this point. The system will likely undergo several changes (based on testing and feedback) before it ships.

So, on that note. For those of you who've voiced a dislike of the Paragon 2.0 mechanics quoted below, what kind of functionality would you prefer to see instead? (And most importantly, why would you prefer that functionality over the one currently being considered?)

- What category a Paragon Point can be spent in will be determined by what Paragon level you earn. Paragon level 1 gives you a point to spend in "Core Stat," Paragon level 2 gives you a point to in "Offensive," Paragon level 3 gives you a point to spend in "Defensive," and Paragon level 4 gives you a point to spend in "Utility" (or "Adventure"). Each Paragon level past that follows the same pattern.

- All categories other than Core Stats (DEX, INT, STR, VIT) have a cap on the number of points that can be allocated to them, which also means there is a cap to the total number of points that 3 of the 4 categories can have. At present, this means if you reach Shared Paragon 800, you will have maxed the number of points that can be allocated to the Offensive, Defensive, and Utility categories and all future Paragon levels you earn will grant you a point in the Core Stat category instead.
While simply saying "yes, I like this" or "no, I don't like this" is totally legit feedback, digging a little bit deeper into the details helps us get a better feel for what kind of experience you're really looking for.

Thanks!

including the low level characters who have not even reached lvl 60?
suppose my account's shared paragon level IS 100.
Does even the level 30 character get 100 paragon Points to spend???
Under current design, yes. Using your example, if your account's Shared Paragon level is 100, all Normal characters on your account would have access to 100 Paragon points, even if they're not at max level (i.e. sub-60).

Again, all subject to change prior to ship, etc etc. :)

Also, some more information from Travis. I'll be sure to add it to the compiled list in just a bit:

Paragon experience is only earned when you are playing a character who is max level. If you are level 60 and paragon 100, when the expansion launches you will continue earning paragon experience in the new system. Once you have the expansion enabled your experience earned will take you from level 60-70 at which point it will again be added to your paragon level instead of character level.
For clarity (since I saw some confusion in the other thread):

- After Paragon 2.0 goes live, if you are level 60 and do not have the expansion enabled on your account, you will continue to earn Paragon experience in the new system. This is because you are still technically at the level cap.

- However, if you are level 60 and decide to enable the expansion on your account, you will stop earning Paragon experience. This is because the expansion increases the level cap to 70. Once you reach level 70, you will start to accrue Paragon experience again from where you left off.

So, basically: Only max-level characters will be able to earn Paragon experience. If you don't have the expansion, max-level = 60. If you have the expansion, max-level = 70. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

Yep Blizzard knows people will not buy their expansion based on how terrible D3 was overall. So they decide to hype it up with removing the AH before the release of RoS so that people will think well they are removing the AH maybe ill give it another shot. So they cash out on bigger sales for the expansion then they re-add the auction house about a month later once people have bought the game
While I can respect a good conspiracy when I see one, I'm going to shut this one down. We have no plans to add either the gold or real-money auction house back into the game after they are removed. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

No New Followers in RoS
When D2 exp. LoD released, new mercenaries added to the game, the barbarians. Why don't we get new follower on RoS? A dps type, two-hander melee follower would fit pretty well imo. What do you think?
We have no plans to introduce any new followers in Reaper of Souls. Instead, we will be delving deeper into the existing followers, and we'll find out more about their personal motivations in their expanded story lines.(Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

RMAH Error Being Worked On
anyone else not receiving payout from RMAH for transaction since the 17th? seems to be a recurring/same old problem for the RMAH, likely to be caused by the maintenance on the 17th.
Hi all, just wanted to drop in and let you know that we are aware of this issue and it is currently being investigated. Although I don't have much more to share right at this moment, I will continue to update the thread as information becomes available.

Thank you for your patience in the meantime! (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

I don't think I like the shared paragon feature...to me paragon is also an indicator of how much time and effort I put into that character and that's why I love the no cap feature, but starting a new character that I might delete after 2 hours and have him have the same paragon level as my main is kinda meh.

I get the whole "it will encourage you to start new characters more easily" but honestly I don't think it will, I don't think I know of anyone that wanted to start a new char and didn't because he would need to gain all paragon levels from the start...but that's just me.

Well, I never leveled a wizard for 6+ months because my main was already 100 and I didn't want to spend 0-70 paragon getting nearly no drops :P So there's me!

I think I get where both of you are coming from. On one hand I love the MF/GF of paragon 100, but I also don't want to make a new character if I've already got 500 Paragon levels with my main(s). The real reason is likely due to the fact that we have no skill trees anymore, nothing to experiment with and see if it would work better than the last time I played that class.

what bothers me, what happens with accounts that have number of characters, each with paragon levels, but none of them with para100? Even in summ of plevels not 100.
also i don't understand - only levels shared? Or what you pick (which abilities\perks you pick) are separate choices for all characters? Because you know, if you have 10 characters (12 with addon) you probably dont need every spare point spent towards 1-2 stats, while you playing characters with 3 different main stats (also you probably dont need str if you play dex\int based characters same ammount of time.)

I think this is a great move for blizzard. The gain of benefits on your lower lvl characters will be great, and allow more attempts at great characters. I personally hate having to switch between gear sets and skills to farm/uber, so this paired with the new loot will open up great chances for me to have multiple mains that are good at doing what they do. All of this coming from a casual player, that doesn't have the time to sit and grind out huge amounts of gold/gear/experience.

English most likely isn't his/her primary language so it's understandable. To answer your questions 2gutpik, it doesn't matter what paragon level they are, it all adds up across your characters. Say I have a level 50, 33, 2, and 12. When Paragon 2.0 comes out, these will combine to be 97 (50+33+2+12). Each character you have for that game mode (Normal or Hardcore) will have 97 points so you won't have to choose who gets what points. Example, I have five characters, each one will have 97 paragon points.

that's wrong, the experience will combine, not the levels. so 4 pLevel 25 characters is not the same as 1 pLevel 100.

the final lvl would be something like 70 max in para 2.0 so 70 points, means 17 points in each category

You are absolutely incorrect. Its not based on levels, but instead, off of experience. In reality you'd probably end up at like paragon 70.

I was using it as a simple example. No one knows what the conversion will be until Blizzard decides what it will be, and even then that is subject to change in future patches. The question that was at hand was what will happen with paragon levels and how that affects a player's characters.

Well the only thing for sure is that they certainly won't be just adding the levels together...not trying to be rude...just saying. There are several accounts that already have 10 level 100's and to max the non-core stats Blizz has stated in blue posts that will take level 800. They won't want people to be maxed right when Paragon 2.0 launches.

The combined paragon levels doesn't work this way, and if it does it needs to be changed. If you have 4 characters at para50, 33, 2, and 12, you don't get to be para97 when RoS launches. It simply combines the total experience gained, not the number of level you're at. It's far easier to get 4 characters to para25 each than it is to have one character to para100.

Like I've said before it was a simple example to address his concerns about how his characters will be affected by paragon 2.0. Do I need to add a disclaimer to examples that they in no way reflect what the end result will be?

I kind of like how the points rotate to each category. If we had complete freedom then, although I would like to put some points in movement speed or pickup radius it would always feel like an overall loss since I would be passing up on more damage (which, at least today, is always king).

And? You make choices, that's what life is about. Them forcing a certain selection at a certain level is dumb. So what if I want to stick all my points in movement speed at first? Why should Blizzard care?

It's a lot like the removal of talent trees in WoW. It's been replaced with a bunch of false choices. Everyone knows where you are going to put that point. So why bother letting us assign it at all? Choices, but no real choices at all. And that's why Blizzard games are becoming sucky - they've taken away your ability to make real choices.
  • #20 lorien1973
I think they should do a character wipe when the expansion releases. Unless they plan to balance the game around toons doing 15 million DPS.
