If your friend list disappeared sometime in the last 24 hours, don't panic! A weird bug was reported by a lot of players who claim the list seems empty when it isn't. Araxom took it upon himself to report to the teams responsible and evidently a few hours ago the bug was fixed.

Hi Kain, I just cache killed the account which doesn't harm data and may resolve this. The information for BNet friends transmits through one of the several ports that Blizzard utilizes to communicate game data, so there's a chance that maybe one or more of the ports listed in this support article are blocked.
Please check that out and if you continue to have any issues with this go ahead and let us know through a support ticket so that we can continue to troubleshoot this with you. Thanks

Interesting, okay well I'll keep my eyes out in case we get a flood of other reports, but so far this is the first I've run into this kind of issue today. If you reach out to us directly through the support portal that I linked, you'll be able to live chat with us through 6p PDT and from there we can try some other steps to hopefully get this worked out. Hacking Is Possible With Any Password
I am a Communications Industry Solution Specialist working for Oracle with a in Ph.D Information Science and Technology from Syracuse University.
And I got hacked.
Let me preface this by saying I do not use an authenticator, but I shouldn't need to.
I have a randomly generated password that is 17 characters long, that cannot be bruteforced. I run all the games I play in an isolated VMWare environment on my standalone "Gaming" computer which does not even even have an internet browser installed. Each game I play has its own specialized password and every week I generate a new password for each game account.
On top of that, in this extremely controlled environment I have (which I use for my purposes of my job when I remain at home), my network is controlled by a 2975 Cisco Catalyst Series Layer 2 switch. Every port except the one's needed for the specific game are opened and closed at launch time of that respected game. For example Diablo III will open up ports 6112-6119 when I launch the game. All other requests of any nature on any port or attempted on any port are logged and analyzed. Naturally, no intrusions have been detected. I might as well mention for my weekly password changes I spin off an RHEL EC2 instance on AWS and make all my changes with CURL requests that are encrypted with a 128bit RC4 cypher.
The only way I could possibly ever get hacked is if your servers have a vulnerability. Please don't tell me I need an authenticator.

Posted Jun 29, 2013The post by the "Communications Industry Solution Specialist" is a troll post. Every sentence is full of crap, it was dissected already when this got posted the first time.
"I don't have an authenticator" should be enough to stop reading. But even if you go on: 17 character password - but B.Net password can only have 16 characters max. (Did you even know that B.Net password are not case-sensitive?)
Not to mention all the crap in the end that says nothing about how secure he keeps his passwords, if he stores his password in a non-encrypted key chain or writes it on a napkin and his 15 year old brother just steals it... no encryption or VM in the world can help against that. (And before you say "a security guy would never do that" think again - a security guy would use an authenticator in the first place.)

Posted Jun 29, 2013Hm... nope. Just stop typing after 16 letters, it won't make a difference. I just tried it out, the password field doesn't even take more than 16 letters as input. No idea why you think it has a 20 char limit... maybe different region (I'm EU)? You can also see the 8-16 letter rule here (screenshot taken 2 minutes ago).
