Blues Read Everything
Part of the job for a Community Manager is to also scour the depths of the social networks and forums.

Part of our job is to "surf the web," as it were, but it's not in the way you might think at first. While off the clock we roam around the fringes of the internet just like anyone else, when we're on the clock, it's important for us to keep up-to-date about a variety of topics that pertain to our communities. Therefore, we sort of "surf the web" in a targeted fashion, seeing what fan sites are saying, popular blogs and news sites, articles, our Reddit communities, and the forums on various other sites. We do that because it's important to keep a pulse on the community all over the web, and that includes the many vibrant communities outside of our traditional Blizzard forums and blogs.

For instance, one of my responsibilities is also manning our Diablo Twitter and Facebook accounts where players from around the world come to interact with us on yet another medium. It may very well be that certain players don't use these social media outlets, but I try to ensure that I get some time to interact on there as well.

As for Bashiok, he transitioned over to the World of Warcraft community team last year, so you no longer need to hold him accountable for posting here on the Diablo III forums. Instead, you have an Archangel, Khazra, and Fallen Hound to keep you company. ;)

  • No Auction House
  • Self found party trades are O.K.
  • No vendor items
  • Crafting is ok, but only use self found materials

Console or PC?
I have a few family members that only play games on Xbox 360, and I'm glad that I'll be able to play Diablo III with them rather than just talk about it. I'll always primarily play on my PC, but this will definitely have it's time and place too.

For those of you who are going to get a console version, do you think you'll play more on consoles or pc? (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

Loroese's Arcane Mines Guide
One of the great Wizards on our forum Loroese has made a great guide for an Arcane Mines Wizard build. It focuses on using the Arcane Mines rune for Arcane Torrent and is great for coop play, but is also a viable solo build.

Loroese has made sure to include the pros and cons of the build, plus some information on gearing. He has provided a few videos, one of which you can see below. Check out his guide and don't be shy to drop him some feedback!

"Blues Read Everything" I doubt it seriously. I have put so many ideas on the official forums but never gotten respons. I know they cant answer "everything" but those ideas they took and put into the game would be nice to get a thumbs up on, and they really should put manpower on the EU forum, it's kinda dead.

I don't get the weird concern folks have on those forums about whether or not their post was read and taken to the game dev by the CMs. Just play the game or don't.

Every build is viable as long as you have a CM wiz :)

It's nice to think that Someone Somewhere is taking your ideas and opinions seriously, but I think too many people fail to see it from Blizzard's point of view. For us, it's one person talking to (hopefully) some random Blizzard employee who go assigned that particular thread to watch. It's an exercise in communication.

For them it's a matter of collating thousands of disparate opinions and filtering them through their own limitations and goals. It's an exercise in statistics and project management... neither of which are well-understood by the vast bulk of the community (who regularly mix up project managers with devs with CMs, and who think 'add more devs' is always a good idea).

What don't you get about them not being able to respond to everything, or even most things?

Do you not consider a book read until you write a book report on it or call the author up and tell them you liked it?

There are TONS of posts, they couldn't possibly respond to everything, even if they wanted to. They shouldn't want or have to though anyway. Most of the time there's just not much to say or share.

It's feedback, not a discussion (most of the time). Most of the information is compiled and then relayed via the CMs in a meeting.

Exactly. Not sure why though, it's pretty easy to understand. They read, they take it into account.

It must be an ego thing to want a blue to respond to you. Every single post does not need to or even should be valifdated with a response. It's not practical and it wouldn't change anything anyway.

Maybe it would make people happy if there was an icon near threads that shows that a blue clicked on it to read it.

But then people would just say, "they didn't really read it, they are just paying someone to click on all the threads!"

    Good idea!

And they have responded plenty of people coming with similar or same ideas as I gave them months before, thats whats so annoying.
