I am very proud of the Diablo franchise and what the team was able to accomplish with Diablo III. As a gamer I have enjoyed the game and played for many, many nights with friends and family. I’m not, however, going to use that as an excuse. The Diablo community deserves an even better game from Blizzard and we are committed to improving it. We have a talented team in place and have no intention of stopping work on Diablo III until it is the best game in the franchise.
I’m the only person in this thread who has actually worked with Jay. I hired Jay to head up the Diablo project and had the pleasure of getting to work with him, both in building the team and designing the game. He has great design instincts and has added so much to the franchise with his feel for visceral combat, boss battles, and an unparalleled knack for making it fun to smash bad guys. I’ve worked with many, many designers at Blizzard and Jay is one of the best. He has a great career at Blizzard ahead of him and I guarantee that you will enjoy Jay’s game designs in future Blizzard games.
If you love Diablo as much as we do, then please continue to let us know how you feel we can improve the game. If you still feel the need to dish out blame, then I would prefer you direct it at me. I was the executive producer on the project; I hired Jay and I gave him advice and direction throughout the development process. I was ultimately responsible for the game we released and take full responsibility for the quality of the result.

Dyes for Legendary Items
Legendary items will finally be able painted! For now, only with the vanishing dye though!

We hope this change will be available for testing on the PTR in a future build, but that may not possible. We’ll keep you updated.
I'm sure adding color to every legendary skin would take time. Vanishing dye at least would be a lot easier to do which is why it would be able to make it into 1.07. They will do color in the long run though I'm sure.
We’re definitely working on making all dyes work for Legendary items. It’s not a quick-fix, though; as Fearophobias surmised, our artists actually need to go back and redo the textures on all the Legendaries in order to make them dye-compatible.
Since we know this process will take some time, we wanted to make sure that players could at least use Vanishing Dye for now (it was the most-requested dye for Legendaries that we’ve seen to date).

Hellfire Rings to be Salvageable in 1.0.7
After some time and discussions the Hellfire Rings will now be salvageable into normal Legendary materials.

Here's an earlier response I provided on the topic of Hellfire Rings > demonic organs. The reasoning still holds true:

We've definitely discussed the possibility of allowing Hellfire Rings to salvage into component pieces, and have debated your feedback quite heavily as a part of that process. While we understand why players would like Hellfire Rings to salvage into demonic organs (or even Keywarden keys), we don't think that's the right way to go right now since it would essentially let you skip some encounters completely. It's something we may revisit in the future, though, once the event has been around for a longer period of time.

They have not listened or chose to ignore the majority of it, where as on other parts they have listened...The game also relies far too heavily on items and without items the character you make is utter garbage...
If Rob is proud of what they did then something must be seriously wrong at Blizzard... Too much iteration imo with no clear direction.
R.I.P Cain, Last of the Horadrim to be killed by a butterfly...lol
We'll see where this leads for D3 in the coming months. Will be an interesting time, perhaps.
Maybe their higher-ups are getting out of touch, or too busy, or too big of a company, or too much aim at "grandmas can play". Battle.net 2.0's been critiqued for years now (since SC2's beta), and yet no Blizz game or expac appears to improve it much (rather they just keep compounding things on, rather than making the core experience more social, etc). I feel like Blizzard has lost its original company vision maybe since around 2007 onwards? And yet, things like D3's combat are so fun, but it needed more interesting item-hunt and itemization to surround it... but they failed to see how Diablo 2 tiers its items and stats etc...
Oh well, hoping for the best
Mists of Pandaria begs to differ.
Other than that you could be totally right.
And now 1.07 is introducing stuff Brevik said they should have introduced in the first place. Hmmm...
So in simplier terms, Wilson has full authority over D3. Rob has full authority over Wilson in a supervisory role.
We can thus safely blame Wilson for all the D3 launch problems. Rob's part is more on how well he supervised Wilson.
Yep. All the technical launch problems are blamed on a designer.

Yea...because a kung fu panda hunting pokemon is extremely original... I never seen either character or game play (pokemon battles) any whereeeeee at all.
Doesn't matter if you and me like it or not. It brought back subscribers and the majority of the audience approves of it. It's a step in the right direction after Cataclysm.
lol well yeah most of them do. It's a casual game for garbage casuals to have evrything handed to them. So yeah they are gonna like it. That expansion was the reason alone why I left wow a year before even before it came out. Cataclysm was good when it came out but leave it to blizzard to nerf the game down to in to stupid mode for the casuals and we went south with it as usual. FL any one ? Let's not forget how they beat the dead horse with that patch alone with the nerfs for garbage casuals.
Forgive me, I would also agree with you in laying the blame on you in some quantity as is the case in any profession in any kind of business for hiring an incompetent individual. Additionally, There is pride and there is foolish pride Mr. Pardo. There is nothing to be proud of in this game.
It is very kind of you to make this post in support of your colleague and friend however. I sincerely hope you have understood what the people desire from this game from the various feedback threads you see everyday and will make improvements in the game towards them from now on.
i think i did something like this before patch 1.0.4 came out
hope they learn from this "PR" damage diablo 3 cause
Ah I don't know about much about MoP so I can't speak for that; I quit WoW one day in 2007 and never came back lol. But it was a great experience.
It's a bit early to be happy about MoP. I'd wait for the next conference call before saying that. It is a very tiresome game to me, I left after two months. I never left any other expansion before a full year (full content cycle). It is the same argument as with Diablo 3: sure, sure, it sold more than ten million, but it's not a game that would be as successful without the brands Diablo and Blizzard on it.
